LYRICS Johanna drove slowly into the city The Hudson River all filled with snow She spied the ring on His Honor's finger Oh-oh-oh A thousand years in one piece of silver She took it from his lilywhite hand Showed no fear - she'd seen the thing In the Young Men's Wing at Sloan-Kettering Look outside at the raincoats coming, say OH His Honor drove southward seeking exotica Down to the Pueblo huts of New Mexico Cut his teeth on turquoise harmonicas Oh-oh-oh I saw Johanna down in the subway She took an apartment in Washington Heights Half of the ring lies here with me But the other half's at the bottom of the sea.

A Real Gem it’s pretty confusing. It’s about a girl named Johanna who I assume lost a brother or something to cancer, and received a ring from him when she died. Hence Sloan Kettering, a cancer hospital in New York. The ring keeps reminding her of her brother and presumably cuts it in half and throws part of it in the ocean to stop the grief. The whole part focusing around “your honor” I have no idea about tho.

@ThatFilmisGnarly
Жыл бұрын
It's pretty simple. Say you want to speed up the footage by 50%. What you do is have the band perform to a version of the song that plays 50% slower than the original. Then when you speed up the footage in your editing software, the lips and dancing of the band will sync to the original (normal speed) version song.

Yea I know that took a couple days
@USAReject

@@ThatFilmisGnarlyThe music video for ‘No Surprises’ by Radiohead does something similar, albeit in the other direction. They had to speed up the portion of the video/song where Thom Yorke’s head is completely submerged underwater so that he could hold his breath long enough, then slowed down that part in post to synchronize all of the footage to the same bpm

i never new the lyrics
This was my childhood favorite song. My mother and Father would play this song and if came out when I was 4. Now I look back at it at the age of 13 with childhood nostalgia. Holy crap. Times goes by fast. Before I even went to school, we listened to this in the car all day. God damn time won't slow down and it brings a tear to my eye.

I don't know if this is a punk song or a song about punk or the title just says punk, but most punk songs are like 2 and a half minutes long

Don't worry about their popularity. It's because this song is so exclusive and not tarnished by the mainstream media that makes it not just awesome, but a masterpiece.
