Viktor's the king of trash-talking, though the Lycan Lucian is not far behind.

So Viktor three hours after awaking from hybernation is strong enough to dispatch a Lycan with his bear hands, and Amelia just gets run through with no resistance. She's as old if not older than Viktor, she should be equally as strong, if not stronger. They did her dirty.

Viktor was a hungarian landlord with many lands and quite a big army and Amelia was one of his generals if not the main general. But Viktor was the first vampire made directly from Markus thus becoming the first vampire created and second only to Markus. Amelia instead was created by Viktor, meaning she was the first of the second generation but with each new vampire turned the bloodline became slightly diluted thus the next vampire was a bit weaker than his creator. Amelia was not on par with Viktor in terms of strength but yes, they did her very dirty. An elder like her should not be overpowered that easily by low tier lycans.

Amelia was at the end of her 100 years cycle of rule and was preparing to hibernate hence she was weaker than usual plus they were ambushed.

I think what explained this (in part) was there was a moment remember when Viktor says that the coven had grown weak and decadent? I read that as....she more or less gave up on her warrior days and based on her attire and appearance one could assume she turned in the sword. That was what I had gleaned from the film. But I do also agree too. It's weird

I don't like how she was taken out offscreen but TBH even if being an Elder made her physically stronger than them, the Lycans had the advantage of surprise *and* UV rounds. Viktor would have went down easily to UV rounds too but instead Raze tried to physically overpower him.

A movie focusing on the elders perhaps in there early days before the hibernation cycle would have been pretty awesome to see, perhaps the focus on containing william and his ilk with the ending leading up to the opening of Underworld Evolution where they captured william.

Let’s be honest here, I don’t think anybody including the ones who work on the first film thought it would become a popular franchise Lol. I’m sure if they knew then they would’ve saved her for a future movie, and also kept Viktor alive as well

Amelia and Viktor couldn't have been Markus's first progeny. When Markus approached a dying Viktor with his offer of immortality he had to be reasonably confident that the process would work, and how to do it. Therefore there must be vampires older than Viktor out there somewhere.

Marcus was all the proof Viktor needed. There were obviously tales of an immortal throughout his kingdom for a while before Viktor was on his death bed. Also Viktor didn't seek out Marcus, Marcus sought out Viktor to help control the growing werewolf population from his brother William. Marcus wanted an army of already trained vampire soldiers and Viktors kingdom filled that role easily. So yes, they were definitely the first progeny. Viktor was at least. Amelia was a bit later.

I didn't like the fact that they allowed Amelia to be killed off by some werewolf underlings. I mean, come on. She's an elder. Her death should have been epic. If this was in the book, it would have been okay to revise her demise just for the sake of cinematic joy. Her death was lackluster, and besides how she looked in that dress, it should have been scrapped.

@@JamesKlass79 Right! Made me feel like the production was lazy and though it wouldn't hurt the movie, which it didn't. But one more bad ass scene in the movie wouldn't have hurt either. Then Victor wakes up and all he has to do is grab their jaw and twist. I'm like ain't that some bullshit. They cheated us out of an Amelia rampage, because how else could she be one of the 3 coven leaders if she can't dispatch a couple werewolf assassins. They think we're dumb or something. But whatever. We got what we got, and it's still a masterpiece of a Vamp flick.

In part because Viktor brained the Lycan Singe with a closed fist, causing Singe's blood to drip into Markus's hibernation chamber and making Markus immune to the sunlight's effects.

To be an elder Amelia got killed real easy by the lycans. I thought that was strange

@@405boy4 Victor was originally a "Strict" ruling military commander as a warlord (human). And ruled with Iron Hand, he was strong, brutal and violent. He was transformed into one of the Elders Death Dealer vampires by Marcus Corvinus bitten by a bat. He loved his daughter Sonja. But when he found out she was pregnant with his lycan slave Lucian corvinus, who he kept as a pet. He had no choice. He had a Phobia of mixed blood Lycan/vampire blood mix. His own thinking that William Corvinus (Marcus's twin brother) was bitten by a wolf was an uncontrollable beast, because William could never change into human form again. Therefore, he decided together with Amelia, that William should be locked up far away from Marcus for all eternity. He kept part of the key to William's prison inside his body so Marcus couldn't get his hands on it. Sonja wore the other part around her neck. Victor humanly killed Selene's family. Selene's father built William's prison. When it came to Selene, he didn't have the heart to kill her, because her face reminded him of his beloved daughter Sonja. He gave Selene vampire powers instead and raised her as a daughter. Selene became a Great and strong vampire warrior. Sonja was sentenced to full public execution by The light of the sun. Lucian was forced to watch his Sonja burn to ashes. But Victor made a big mistake. He underestimated Lucian Corvinus' Muscle powers. In full rage, Lucian used the full moon to transform himself into Lycan form. He struggled free from the chains and escaped. And acquired a werewolf army, (Lycans he found in a cave in the forest). He spoke to them and they understood him. He, them and his Lycan friends (the other Lycan slaves of Victor) went to revenge war against Victor. Victor was weakened by the Sunlight and Lucian stabbed victor in the mouth with his sword. Victor was put in the hibernation chamber. And it was only a drop of blood from the Elders that could wake him up. But Selene broke that rule. And Victor's Psychopath mindset told Selene that when Amelia and the Council arrived she would be judged like Sonja. But Sonja escaped and managed to come clean by bringing a researcher from the Lucian lab who told everything. And Victor killed this scientist with his claws, by striking him with his hand. The blood trickled down into Marcus' sleeping chamber. And then the awakening was pushed forward. Because when the traitor Craven was going to kill Marcus, the chamber was empty. Marcus Corvinus came flying out of the brick wall in his bat hybrid form, killing Craven's crew and stabbing him with his claws that were on his wings. And he said the following to Craven: the blood memory of this poor creature exposes your treachery without any limits. Then he killed Craven. Right after he took some of Craven's blood. There he saw Selene kill Victor. And he located Selene, stabbed Michael Corvinus in several places and captured Selene and held her and drank some of her blood and found out where his brother was locked up and also located the key.

This deep dive is awesome. I learned things about Taynis and Saline that I never even thought had backstories flushed out.

I never understood how Amelia could be defeated so easily, When Viktor could kill a Lycan with his bare hands 🤷

I never understood how Amelia is this almighty vampire with a shit ton of super powers and strength yet gets bested by a few lycans in an ambush… never made sense to me

She was never a main character just a passive one to tell the story.

This was an Incredible Masterpiece Video for The Origin Video for The Vampire Elders. Viktor is My All Time Favorite Character and Antagonist’s in The Underworld Film Series. Marcus was Incredible Antagonist’s and I wish that we got a Prequel Film for Marcus and William. Amelia Truly was an Underrated Character Throughout Amelia Didn’t get a Lot Screen it was shown that Amelia was Better Leader and Person than Viktor and Marcus.

Plus Viktor was Cruel and Power Hungry - Viktor killed his Daughter out of Fear. Marcus was Sadistic and a Monster - Marcus literally Destroyed The Old World Coven out of Jealousy. Amelia Protected and Loved Her Coven and Her Son and she has been Described as The Most Noble and Benevolent out of The Three Vampire Elders.

I love how Victor and Amelia had their own child. Both children were the opposite gender of them. Victor had Sonja and of course Amelia had David. Poor Marcus did not have a child born from him and a woman. Amelia is the only one to not have a major role in any of the films. Victor is the main antagonist of the 1st movie and 3rd one. Marcus is the main antagonist of the 2nd movie. Amelia only had short screen time in the first 2 movies.

Marcus was decent till he was awakened by the Lycan blood. Plus being sick of being lied to and kept in the dark by Amelia and Viktor for centuries.

Amelia was far from a perfect ruler. Under her reign the Old World Coven degenerated into one big opium den with only a minority of Death Dealers still turning up to training and the Regent, Kraven, arguing that it was okay to go soft because the war was almost over. The more militant Viktor immediately recognised that the coven had grown vulnerable to Lycan aggression, and if he'd lived his first priority would have been to correct Amelia's mismanagement by ordering all coven members into boot camp.

That's kinda Viktor's fault for leaving Kraven in charge, Viktor has said so himself after his awakening. Kraven likely intentionally allowed the coven to grow decadent given what he was plotting. It's also uncertain how much influence the reigning elder has over the territory/governor of another.

Wish they would've gone a different way with series and either explored Victor's past more or found a way to bring him back. Really wanted to see more Lucian, too.

I think the most entertaining thing about Amelia is that she could have a child. Selenas child was brought up in a facility, so they used science to ensure it worked. Amelia did not have this.

One thing I hated about these movies is how they depicted Amelia to be equally powerful with the other two but was easily dispatched in the first movie.

I haven't seen this movies since its released day! Time to pay my Respect again after so many years! 🙂

Three narrators for three Elders was a nice touch.

Marcus was in my opinion the most wasted character in the series, they should have stuck to the "If either Corvinus dies, their species dies with them", plus it does not make sense to me that in this Universe older vampires are stronger than younger but Marcus is the weakest out of the 3 Elders before he became a Hybrid and even then he does not feel strong. Even tho he is the oldest person behind Alexander Corvinus, Marcus is really dumb, he is unaware of the Vampire World and Viktor/Amelia spin him around their fingers like a fool. Wasted Potential!

That whole if Marcus dies the species dies is a lie told to Viktor by Marcus so Viktor wouldn't have him killed. Marcus isn't the weakest of the 3. He is the least respected and less powerful in the sense of command over Viktor's army. He came to Viktor for help and sired him and Amelia. Viktor is looked at as the ruler because he was king over his flock. Marcus is very aware of the vampire world that he created. He is at a disadvantage because his lack of influence over his brood.

Fans of the movies often forget that Marcus had very little to no influence do to his deal with Viktor, although Viktor came up with these rules after being turned. The only other vampire that was fully aware of Marcus true identity was Amelia, but even with that knowledge this goes to show she was just as ruthless as (or even more so) than Viktor himself.

They should've create a sense of myth around Marcus. And that the villain on the second one is not Marcus. And William after hundreds of years finally able to become human form. If they implement that, this franchise would've been better.

Considering how powerful William was, definitely something to explore. The werewolves and lycans I think would heed his call over Lucien. Imagine if he drank some vampire blood and became a rabid hybrid. Didn't like how William died in UW2. It was an ass pull for Michael Corvin who literally was dead, then just came back to life again to help fight and kill off William.

​@@alanguages I think the goal with Michael was to reinforce Selines hypothesis that Michael's powers could be limitless. He wouldn't be limitlessly powerful if Marcus could kill him so easily or William could defeat him at all. Michael had to be strong enough to defeat death as well as William.

Michael coming back to life hours of being dead was a convenience, just to come back to life at the right moment for the final showdown of the movie. Deux Ex Machina moment. Killing him off again off screen was even worse in Blood Wars. He will likely come back again with a recasted actor. Honestly after UW3, everything is crap.@@SoN_oF_oDiN76

Amelia got screwed over big time. They tried fixing it some with saying David is her son but that doesn’t do her justice at all. She seemed more level headed and probably more competent than Viktor and Marcus. She had the foresight to keep her son hidden to make his claim. You didn’t see or hear of either of the other 2 thinking that far ahead. They didn’t even think decades ahead. Plus, the actress is just damn sexy too

First comment i see addresses the very topic i want to discuss across ALL the Underworld movies: They DID AMELIA SO DIRTY in ALL the films. however, as we know, there can only be ONE. meaning, Kate Beckinsale is the HOTTIE badass that's kicking ass. and i'm 100% there for it. cuz I LOVE Kate Beckinsale's accent, acting prowess, and of course finding her overall in Underworld. But i would have LOVED to see more Amelia... especially if they allowed an ENTIRE movie about Lucian and Viktor's daughter (NOT played by Kate Beckinsale but another baddie from the UK) forgot her real name... they DO look similar and i'm sure they embellished it even MORE in the movie. at any rate, the thing is..... they lost Scott Speedman and with his loss, it was only a matter of time, before Underworld would end. Tragically it came to an end with Marius and the Norse Coven. Selene, at this point, is not just a "true immortal" - but also a vampire base immortal + the human immortality gene from the father of William and Marcus (which I need someone to clarify whether or not he was able to transform into that bat/humanoid form since his brother William was in a permanent allbino Lycan form forever; Ravenous and ONLY listened to Marcus. However it was "hinted" with an end of movie or credit scene of Marcus (hanging upside down in his casket) being awakened by the blood of Singe (the Lycan doctor) and through his blood he became a "hybrid" too. only a Vampire based Hybrid whereas Michael is a Lycan based hybrid. So the question is: 1) Could Marcus shapeshift into his bat-form before or only after drinking Singe's blood due to Viktor punching his face off when finding the Treason of Kraven? 2) OR Could he pull out the bat wings just like his brother William was forever a GIANT whitewolf? Anyways. Selene seems to be the ultimate form/hunter........ she's a human, then vampire base, then trained as a death dealer from medieval period up to modern tech (firearms) to sci-fi/fictional ammunition (harnessing light into ammo, specifically UV Ray Ammo + Liquid Silver Nitrate ammo) as well as silver nitrate grenades in the movie where there's a futuristic dystopian for vampires as lycans have "gone underground" but also simultaneously running the TOP / ELITES of the world. with bio-labs, experimenting on Michael, Selene and their Child. which is how later on, MARIUS got his hands on Michaels' blood from tracking him from the lab (but this makes no sense as to why michael NEVER met his daughter nor reunited with Selene and his daughter with their shared sight) which we SAW in the movie with the GIANT ROID RAGE LYCAN... when Selene/Michaels Daughter was born, Selene was able to track her down through being able to see through her eyes.... anyways... I did "enjoy" the Nordic Coven and seeing their rituals of going BEYOND "death" even for the "undead" - aka Vampires. Selene was enhanced as follows as far as i know: 1) Human 2) Vampire 3) Vampire+True HUMAN Immortality = allowing her to daywalk now (Alexander gave her this gift) 4) Realizing her father built William's prison and that's why her family was slaughtered and she spared. she was also upgraded with the passive blood from Marcus (the FIRST vampire, who ALSO became a vampire based Hybrid immortal, conversely, Michael was the first Lycan based Hybrid with transformation ONLY available to those 2) 5) Upgraded again somehow in blood wars? where she finds her daughter and she kills the GIANT lycan? OR no upgrades, she's just awakened and finds the world rules by bio-labs owned by secret lycans, while vampire covens have gone underground, humans have become puppets to lycan overlords without KNOWING and low level/unknown lycans are more akin to scavengers / starving rats = to NY Rats that get massive lol.. 6) Norse/Nordic Ice Castle Coven Vampire Clan = her LAST Upgrade that she saw other women doing by wrapping their bodies and going into the freezing waters that allowed them to pierce the veil BEYOND the veil. If that makes sense... due to the fact Selene is already an Immortal Immortal (multiplier Vampire^Human True Immortal courtesy of Alexander Corvinus), then during her fight vs Marius; she realizes that Marius is ONLY abuse to do the Lycan Hybrid transformation due to drinking VIALS of Michael's blood... but we do NOT know HOW, WHEN, or WHY he was able to defeat the TOP TIER LYCAN that is Hybrid Lycan and descendant of the first human true immortal... so iam so very lost/confused on how Marius was able to get the drop on Michael... cuz Michael is stronger than ALL OTHER LYCANS... AND VAMPIRES. and if I'm not mistaken, once Selene drank Alexander's blood, she used her power up of Immortality squared, she put her blood in Michael after he had his hand/wrist impaled as well as his spine/ribs/sternum/presumably his heart imapled but his form did NOT revert to human. We see her drop her blood into his mouth AND wounds and later we see his body disappear from the body bag as Selene goes to William's prison. Michael is ALIVE and helps Selene fight William and Marcus. 6b) The video just now said Marcus was able to always Transform but I think they're wrong because we see a SCENE where the Lycan's Doctor who is a Lycan is AWAKENED by a Lycan's blood and after that, we see his eyes go from the Vampiric bloodlusted BRIGHT BLUE to the HYBRIDIZED BLACK - solid black entire eyeball just like Michael's eyes did when HE was prevented from transforming on the full moon after Lucian bit him, and then didn't drink human blood, and his first blood was AFTER he was bitten by Selen; causing his eyes to go FULL BLACK. 6c) Selene's final upgrade in the Ice Castle Coven; she essentially does the ritual without the aid of the coven mid-fight against Marius, she slides into the freezing waters, and that presumably slows her bleeding from multiple wounds, and thus some part of this magical ritual, she's able to see beyond the beyond and now she's able to move SO FAST, she's essentially "teleporting" she's so fast. On top of her speed being exponentially boosted, she also seems to gain some kind of truesight/foresight or what's the word... see the future? idk. she's also exponentially physically stronger. and retains her ability to withstand UV rays / day time / sunlight due to Alexander. 7) Selene's life journey is so tragic... but at least she's still alive and was ultimately able to get her revenge. I would LOOOOOOOVE for another movie to show what goes on between the end of the Fight of Selene/Michael vs William/Marcus and when she's captured and wakes up in a bio-lab, apparently what WOULD HAVE TO BE 50-100+ years if not multiple centuries. I want to see the timeline between those 2 movies... but to have her family taken from her, just because Viktor was so paranoid about ANYONE feasting on her father's blood and finding out where William is imprisoned... and her "similar appearance to his original daughter" however - i believe the only, and typically MAIN reason why she was kept, was to control Marcus via William's imprisonment. the only "living" undead that know where it is, are the dead men - humans - who built it and were later killed. Not FEASTED ON (as Kraven tries to tell her in first movie by stating Viktor could never abide his own rules! and it was he that slaughtered her family not the Lycans). Keep in mind,, killing Lycans for centuries is what kept Selene going through her new-found immortality... but her MAIN purpose was NOT that she reminded Viktor of his daughter who fell in love with a Lycan (Lucian) and also got pregnant by him; but it was due to the fact, a true vampire like Marcus (which was put in the movies, thankfully), would be able to access her memories to the point of childhood over 800+ some years, perhaps 1000-1400 years during her childhood. At any rate, when Selene Woke up Viktor it was "chaotic" and not appropriately chronological. Viktor doesn't see her childhood memories of going to the building sight that would be William's prison. Cuz Marcus did NOT even know where Viktor hid him away.... I DO LIKE how people were tricked into thinking Viktor was the Elder vampire and leader of all of them, but in reality it was Marcus. securing their survival should someone kill Viktor, all vampires would be safe. but as we know Selene has become something MORE. Same w/....

I hate that they never gave Amelia her due!!! To not explore her character did the series an injustice!!! According to vampire history when she died her whole line should have died as well. The same with the death of the other elders. They lost with that. Also, Marcus said that in the second installment.

Amelia was the perfect vampire...

Zita Görög is beautiful and should of been left alive in underworld we could get a prequel , she is mainly a model back then I was so obsessed with how beautiful she was in the prologue in underworld 2 she didn’t have much acting experience she mainly is a model that’s why her shots and scenes in the first movie have her walking like a model but I think they could do a Amelia movie prequel since it seems Kate beckinsale is done

They made Amelia seem weak in the first movie. Granted the werewolves had surprise on their side, and likely numbers as well when they attacked her train but the fact that they didn't have a solid guard there regardless to protect her, plus as 1 of the 3 founding elders she should have been able to fight off many of the werewolves. There's not really a power chart to compare but Viktor killed werewolves easily and even fought off the hybrid, with all the hybrids power. So you would think Amelia would be pretty powerful. Obviously no matter what her power is there was too many werewolves to fight off alone but they didn't even try to show her fighting. Just getting bitten and blood being taken from her helpless as she laid dying. I think it's likely they didn't necessarily have a second movie planned so they didn't delve too deeply in her character in the first movie but they could have at least showed her fighting a bit to save herself even if she died inevitably. They gave her character more of a fleshing out in the subsequent movies at least.

Let’s not forget she was killed by Raze the 2nd most powerful Lycan and the same can be said how easily Raze was killed by Viktor and remember Raze was punching out Lycans when he was still human. They didn’t put to much thought in the first movie because there probably wasn’t a plan for a prequel.

@@Sethmotley I don't think they actually show raze as the one who killed her in the movie, unless they mention it outside the movie in some added lore info. Regardless of which lycan killed her, it wasn't because it beat her in a fight, it was just the overwhelming number of lycans helped by kraven and his cronies to set it up that was how they beat her. Judging by Viktor and Marcus, Amelia should have had no problem beating any of the lycans. Raze was beating low level young vampire soldiers at best, not legitimate old death dealers. Viktor killed him no problem with zero issue.

@@khanofkhans6546 Raze was 2nd to Lucian as far as power and he was punching out lycans when he was human so to have Viktor kill him so easily was ridiculous. Raze was there when Amelia was killed so it’s likely Raze took her out.

@@Sethmotley he was 2nd in command technically. Not necessarily 2nd in strength. In the 3rd movie it shows raze get turned with a bunch of others at the same time. It showed raze before he was a lycan fighting off a couple of lycan as a regular human. He was just a big, strong guy. Viktor beat him easily because Viktor was far older and an elder. No werewolf stood a chance against him, which is why they threw so many at amelia. Viktor even beat Michael as a hybrid during their fight pretty soundly. It was only thanks to Selene coming up behind him and cutting his head in half that Viktor was defeated. I don't recall raze ever being part of the attack on Amelia. Where does it say or show that in the movie? You don't see any non transformed lycans during the attack.

As far as I remember werewolves created by William were unable to turn back into human. This is what created the issue and why Marcus went to Viktor. Lucian, when born, was a new kind of werewolf born to a werewolf created by William. Because of his ability to turn from human to werewolf and back he was used to create new werewolves for the vampires to use as slaves.

You know, Michael was kinda pathetic. He was described as this unstoppable hybrid monster that was stronger than both fangs and lunes. Yet all he really did was get his ass kicked then rescued by Selene. Sure he killed William in Evolution but William had literally just been freed from his prison and hadn't recovered his full strength before being thrust into a fight to the death with a monster he wasn't prepared for. I'm sorry for all the Michael fans but yeah, he was kinda useless and couldn't live up to the hype he was built up for.

That timeline doesn't work with David's birth. That would mean he was older than Selene and that certainly isn't true. Viktor hadn't imprisioned William yet, so therefore hadn't killed her family and raised Selene to then turn her.

The other vamps were never going to trust Marcus over Victor, he was the unknown entity to them, they knew Victor was a successful leader and had their best interests at heart, Marcus just wanted to get rid of the werewolves and help William, he never cared for the other vamps especially after they imprisoned his brother.

Yea I don't like how they did Markus and Amelia. But, I do get while Viktor was so tough. Kinda like a Dracula, he had training and war experience before being a vamp. I wished they would've explored that, but also, Markus and Amelia to the fullest.

Strangely that initial Corvinus clan was set in 6th century, 350 years before Hungarians came to Pannonia. They could shift it a bit later, and the story would not change drastically. This way it is like the writer simply did not care.

If they didn’t skip the prequel novel Blood Enemy it’s possible that the last two movies wouldn’t have been as bad! Not to mention how much they left out of Amelia’s storyline!

I like the video but we have to remember in this universe two vampires can not have children remember Victor says this when he finds out his own daughter is pregnant from Lucian, I think she may have birth her son before being turned
