+Cedric Koh No, the actors were just as awful, especially the one who played Rose. It's been years since I've finished the series, but I do recall that THE Rose had a wild and bold personality that just made her seem so unbeatable and admirable. While in this movie, we have this typical awkward and sarcastic teenager who tries and fails to act cool.

Riley The video owner has every right to disable comments if he or she does not care for opinions. He or she could even delete them if he or she finds the comments offensive. The very fact that there is a comment section right there with a box that says "Add a public comment....." practically screams to everyone to give their opinion about the video. Why else would Google go through the trouble of including a comment section in their channels and even setting the page automatically to enable the comment section with every published video? Giving and receiving feedback is one of the essential aspect of social media. If no one cared about my opinion, there would be no comment section.

+Middle Mist Really? I wonder if you're a bit jaded given you've read the books. I just watched this on Netflix, expecting to get a low budget piece of crap, but I was astonished at how good it was. The acting was good, I didn't find any of it to be particularly corny except the last kiss scene, and the actress even managed to pass that off well... I'm not someone that can stomach bad acting, so not sure what you're setting your bar at for 'corny acting'.

So many people are not happy with the direction this movie is going. But I love it! Rose is very sarcastic and humorous and I think they captured her personality perfectly.

This movie is my guilty pleasure, I can't even count how many times I watched it. I really hope they release the sequel sometime soon.

Hmm, funny how opinions are so different. I found the cast very good, actually. Of course Zoey Deutch was perfect as Rose, but I thought that Sami Gayle as Mia or Gabriel Byrne as Victor were also spot on, for example. But I especially loved Claire Foy as Ms. Karp. She transported the paranoia and fragility of the character so well! I'm undecided about Danila, though. On one point he fit very well, but still there was no magic. The one character who was really ruined, was Kirova, though. Far over the top!

Yes, that's the later character role I'm saddest about. There's several other good characters we never got, but he was the one I (and probably everyone else who's read Frostbite) wanted to see most. Also I loved Bloodlines where he was an important character, but still. Also, they couldn't do Bloodlines without the other books, because Jill doesn't appear until Shadow Kiss and she's majorly important.

There were so many things that they could've done to make this movie better, and it makes me sad because the books are SO GOOD. I really really hope they do a remake of the first book in the future (with the same cast) or do a sequel Frostbite with different screenwriters, because I love the books and I want to see them turned into GOOD movies!!

I can't believe this ! Vampire Academy is supposed to be a story about courage, sacrifice, boundless love, a whole specie in extinction due to Strigois attacks. Rose Hathaway, is a rebel, and a sexy badass, whose duty is to sacrifice herself so as vampires can live peacefully. She has nobody to care for her, no prospect to make her happy, (and yet finds humour in every situation), until she falls blindly in love with the only person she can never be with : her mentor. This is the book, this is the story of a forbidden love between two soldiers who can't find their place in a fucked up world, and the ONLY way these realisators decided to adapt it is to make it in a Gossip Girl and mean girls style; making it look like some High school of vampires showing their fangs and having blood feists. I've waited for this movie for years, and now I just want to take a jump from the nearest window.

They made it funny and not as serious as the books because people in the general public dislike the "teen serious vampire" thing. Remember how people treat twilight...? I think the directors were trying to avoid that exact same thing. It's better to laugh at yourself and recognize your own ridiculousness so that you don't allow other people to do it for you. I think it makes the movie even more awesome. Can't wait!

Ugh I just hate fans who complain all the time that the movie isn't going to be 100% like the book. Really? It's getting annoying. This is an adaptation. The trailer is funny because it has to interest wider audience and not just the fans of the book. I mean we've seen like 2min of the movie. And angsty teen movies don't work anymore. So just stop whining and go see the movie. If you don't like it you can still complain after.

Exactly. They aren't aiming the trailers towards the fans right now. They're drawing in the "outsiders" with humor. To all the people who say they don't have any of the dark aspects and that this is another Teen High School Vampire Movie, it kind of is, the first book anyway. After Vampire Academy, it's more deep and dark. Plus, people have seen a screening for the movie already and said it's pretty faithful to the book. (: HAVE HOPE YOU GUYS!

Thank you to you both! It's so true! The books, which are amazing, begin at at generic high school. And with high school, there is drama. But more than that, the Waters brothers are known for their high schools dramadies (come on, take a good look at Mean Girls!) so it's going to be slightly reminiscent of that. Otherwise, taking into account all logistics the production crew had to undergo - whether it be keeping in certain scenes, adding in others, just the trailer in general - it's clear that this isn't everything. There are changes, but it doesn't affect the series as a whole. Have a little faith, see it, then complain about it all you want.

If you have read the book and do not like the trailer because it is not dark enough, or too mean girl ish, then you need to remeber that the first book is suposed to be like that. It gets darker but the first book was actually pretty much like it is played out in this trailer. I personally love this trailer!

Abbie Mannion i finished reading fiery heart yesterday. RM was right, it is a heartwrenching ending, but im looking forward to see how things recover from there, and how long it takes. it sort of mirrors what happened to rose and dimitri, and how it took 3 books before dimitri got over himself.

I saw the movie before reading the books. It is a NICE movie. Lots of humour, and a style that I'd describe as Buffy meets Harry Potter. The plot is a bit predictable, but it's based on the 1st book out of 6, so it's more like an introduction to a bigger story. It's sad that it flopped. I think they really messed up the promo, they presented as a Gossip Girl + vamps thing -_- I loved the actors they had for Rose and Dimitri. But at least we have the books (which are better indeed).

Also, I never read Twilight, couldn't get past the first chapter, if you want vampire cliché happy ending, then Twilight it is. Yes this has vampires, but why is it, when you hear vampires, people compare with Twilight, these books are much better and darker than twilight. The books were great, that I read them all in a few days, and this book deals with much more than being a vampire. And also the main character is truly a Bad-A$$, she's not weak, she's strong, and she's not perfect, she has flaws, there are darkness and lightness in her. What I loved is her journey, I suppose you say, she was a bit naive. but she became much more when the books ended. So people. yes, give the books a chance, don't slate it or call it a Twilight copy cats. IT'S NOT!!

That punch at the end though... You gotta love Rose Hathaway! Zoey is the Perfect Rose! I can't think of a single actress who could play Rose better than Zoey! She brings Rose's sassiness and pixiness to a whole new level! You simply can't help but love her!

The cast was perfect I'm really sad that movie didn't work out.

I don't understand why people didn't like this movie? yes, at first I saw this trailer and I thought "this is not like the book. it can't be. it's more on Rose's wild side." the movie sort of was, but it stayed true to the book. yeah, some things were off, but at least it didn't turn out like the caster chronicles where they fucked up the movie so badly. yeah, that's all. I didn't like it because they took away from some of the greater themes of the books, such as depression and suicide, and made it all about parties and pretty dresses. The leaving of dead animals on Lissa's bed was super creepy in the book whereas in the movie they made it a huge dramatic fanfair. I didn't like the movie because I wished it had stayed true to the themes and subtle nature of some of the things that happened. Personally, I couldn't care less about casting or plot - I just like my themes.

Lol, I thought the movie was awful and ridiculous. The girl talks too much and suddenly have sex with the teacher in some part of the movie. Cringe-worthy as well. If this is an adaptation of a book, I guess it is made for those Twilight fans.

I have not read the original books, but this looks to have much more life and energy in it than Twilight, or any of its knockoffs. Let's just hope that they didn't put all of the legitimately funny scenes in the trailer.

Loads of people seem to be complaining but I liked this trailer. WAAY better than the last one and they've included things that I actually forgot even happened. Got Rose spot on... High expectations for this!

Say what you may, after watching this film numerous times, I actually enjoyed it alot. It's cheesy and strays far from the books, but it isn't actually all that bad. So please, despite the awful advertising, take the time to watch the film :)

So I was watching this trailer, wondering what it was, when things start to look a little familiar. Next scene, I suddenly realise that this filmed this at my old school? I heard absolutely nothing about this happening lol. They're fighting right outside where I used to sleep several years ago! Pretty surreal stuff. Doesn't look a half bad movie either - deliberately not too serious, but not too sloppy/lazy either

I'll still watch it. These vampires don't sparkle...although according to the book, Moroi can only stand some sunlight, Strigoi none at all, but dhampirs are OK with sun.

They need to make Frostbite. I honestly do not care that almost three years have past. They need to make it. This book series is amazing and the movie is just as great. Please, I promise I will go watch the movie 20 times if it is a money thing because of these rich industries, I would go more times but poor people like myself can't afford to. Plus, I am a sure a lot of people will watch it as well. Just please finish the series, you can not leave us hanging like this it is not fair to the public, the fans. Thank you.

After falling in love with the books years ago I immediately dismissed this movie upon viewing the teaser trailer, but now...this looks AMAZING, so happy they kept the humour from the books and Rose seems brilliant. Wish this trailer had more dimitri though, want to hear the accent :-P

THE MOVIE IS AWESOME. It hurts me to think that Twilight and Divergent can have better ratings than this movie, even though all are based of their books.

I’m so excited! I loved the books, and Julie Plec did a great job with The Vampire Diaries and seeing how she’s a huge fan of these books, I think we’ll finally have a well written adaptation. From the photos the cast is posting on their Instagrams, they look like they’re going to have great chemistry!

Finally! A vampire movie that actually looks like fun. Might be a nice reprieve from all the angsty drama shit that takes itself way too seriously. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

A lot of the comments on here are talking about how it's not as serious as the books. But from my point of view, it's actually very similar. Rose is made of sarcasm and wit and we're shown a lot of that in this trailer. I'm sure the serious parts in the book will come across more serious, but hey, they need a selling point and "serious vampire drama" doesn't really make the cut anymore.

SPOILER ALERT: Don't take this the wrong way, and allow me to explain why this movie is wrong in so many ways. Yes Rose is sarcastic, good job film makers, you know sarcasm. But rose is not as cute as the trailer makes her seem: 1:56 'everyone saw that I tried to take the high road, sort off' in the book it says: ' I punched Mia as hard as I could (please keep in note Mia is small, with shoulder length, curly black hair so idk who this girl is playing cause it sure ain't Mia)- harder, I think, than I'd even hit Jesse. ' Then it talks about Mia falling back and everyone everyone screaming. 'I swooped in after her, getting in one more good punch before someone peeled me off her'. She was tackled basically by a few guardians. So iunno where they got that "aweh omg I punched her, my mistake" because no, she doesn't give two shits about who she punched right then. I'll continue with Lissa, 0:21'uh thanks'. Wtf? Even after Lissa takes blood rose is totally fine, no she's high af after that. In the book: 'she pulled back wiping her hand across her lips as she studied me"you ok".' After this rose is ill and doesn't go "what are friends for" she admits she needs to lie down. Where's Jeremy? He lived with them in the college dorm, iunno where he is, which is fine, he was only minor important, sorry, Jeremy. When they go to the dance, showed pretty often in this trailer, she's with Lissa, in the book they're in a fight, so why is she with Lissa? Why does Mia call Lissa a blood whore at 0:57? A blood whore is a dhampir who allows moroi men, or woman, feed on them while they have sex. In all honestly I find this movie a little insulting. They're trying to make it a vampire like mean girls kinda thing. This book is much more then high school life and sex, it's a story of loyalty and dedication. Is Harry Potter just about some boy being a wizard? No, it's not. My sister hasn't even read the books and after seeing this trailer she refuses too saying it's stupid. I'm sorry if I just insulting you, embarrassed you, or/and bashed your opinion but really this movie trailer is shit. I will acknowledge that the movie isn't out yet so it might be better than the trailer; but this trailer really isn't promising.

Jasmine Alexis I just wanna say that Producers have nothing to do with the scriptwriting, acting or creative pathway chosen. All they do is fund it. The Director of this, however, also directed Mean Girls and let's be real for a second, that movie is exceptional. But I do understand where everyone is coming from. The books are darker than what the trailer is portraying, but they need a selling point and more often than not the trailer is not a true depiction of what the movie is actually like at all.

the movie was awful, I hate how they made it feel so chick-flicky when the book wasn't even like that. sure there were funny moments but it wasn't supposed to be this "typical high school movie" vibe -_- the books were SO much better.

diyanamaya absolutly !! i loved the books they were alot better i think the only charachter that really got theire role right was Rose Hathway the others were not what the book described !! i really expected alot more out of the movie !! too bad !!! maybe the second would be better ?

The way they left off this movie, there should have been a Vampire Academy 2.

Come on...Twilight doesn't even have a plot. At least this movie does. And the actors can act unlike those in Twilight.

I think some people forget that the first book took place in the Academy and that there was a lot of a Teenage Drama. All the other books jump around between the school and other places ,until after rose graduates where the book takes place in the world outside the academy so give the movie is a chance before you jump to conclusions.

So I read all the books for this movie in hs and I’m so sad they never made another movie or at least into a show

Just saw the movie in theaters and I have to say, IT WAS PRETTY FRICKIN AWESOME.

Judging by the comments, I would say this movie is mostly going to be for the people who read the books. I read them a couple years ago and loved the story line. I can't wait to see the movie. On a side note, I do understand why people may criticize it if they haven't read the books.

I'm not saying that it is better. I haven't even been able to watch it because it's not available in my area yet. I just commented based on the fact that many people probably don't know of the book series. I read the books a couple years ago and hoped a movie would be made from it. So naturally, I'm excited for the movie but at the same time, I have never seen a movie that is as good or especially better than the book. But still, it's a matter of opinion and I can't wait to watch it.

All movies comes from someones book. It has to be written first. BOOKS are BOOKS and MOVIES are MOVIES. All books though they may be a good read doesn't necessarily guarantees a good or great movie for everyone.

When I saw the teaser trailer I was not happy. It made me so afraid to see the movie because I loved the books so much, but this one...Perfection. Zoey Deutch is amazing for Rose and Lucy Fry seems to be a great Lissa (and this is JUST from the trailer). I can't imagine how amazing the movie will be. Very excited! Plus I'm happy with Christian (favorite character, besides Adrian) now that I've seen some snippets of him - again...extremely excited for this movie!

I absolutely love the book series, but I was extremely disappointed by the movie. The books actually have depth and meaning, and a very clever sense of humor. The movie felt like it was just ridiculing that, and it felt like the movie was aimed at a much younger age group than the books. Also, the vampires in the movie looked utterly ridiculous. Both the Moroi and the Strigoi. They just looked weird and unrealistic. It didn't look convincing at all. I also did not think that the girl playing Lissa was right for the part. She is pretty, but in the book, Lissa is described as even taller, and skinnier, fragile, almost "doll-like", because she is a Moroi. There should have been more of an obvious contrast between Rose and Lissa. The Lissa in the movie seemed too confident and outspoken compared to how Lissa was portrayed in the first book. I also felt like the movie destroyed some plot lines. For instance, in the movie, Lissa casually teases Rose about having a crush on Dimitri. But in the books, Rose keeps her crush a secret, and Lissa does not find out until the end of book 3 when Dimitri goes missing - at which point Lissa is deeply hurt from having been kept in the dark by her best friend. This is an important part of the story, and plays an integral part of book 4. But in the movie, this whole plot line has already been discarded.

+Josefin91sheltie Unfortunately, if movie creators honoured all capsule plots with their own timeline over multiple movies, fans would be perpetually disappointed when sequels don't get funding. The films have to be capable to stand alone, so - does it really matter that we never got to see that friendship tiff, versus having an integral part of Rose's story oddly ignored by her best friend for the one and only film in the storyline?

@@chelseaw9009 Of course I understand that not everything from a book can fit into a movie. Some things need to be dropped or rewritten to work better on screen. But I still believe that it’s important to have read not just the first book but the whole series before attempting to write a script, because otherwise you may accidentally change or drop details that are integral to the story. Even if the movie must be able to stand on its own, I would assume that plans to develop a sequel had developed if the first movie was a success. And details that I listed in my first answer, such as movie-Lissa’s off-hand teasing comment about Rose being into Dimitri, would have become a big problem down the line when filming the third and fourth books.

I remember when I read these books back when they came out.....I always said "They should make a movie, these books are so amazing." Now that they did years later, it looks like it wont be good :/ Hopefully im proven wrong...

Very sad, I will still go to see it no doubt, but I just have a strong feeling it won't live up to my expectations. Like i said before, i hope im proven wrong because these books were everything to me when i was younger and re reading them now is bringing back so much memories. I still love them very much, hopefully the movie i will love also.

I'm pretty sure that when Rose punches Mia, she doesn't stop until she gets pulled off of her... She's feisty, not what they're portraying her to be

I haven't read the books either but personally I LOVED the movie!! it was so cool and I loved the story and can we just talk about Christian I mean goddamn 😅. I probably will read the books eventually but I feel that it's ok for the movies to be different from the books. anyways I loved it a lot so that's all that matters.

The first book was lighthearted and funny compared to the rest. Showcasing this is a very good marketing strategy. All the other YA books that have been turned into movies have flopped, because they have all taken themselves too seriously and give off that romance teeny vibe. This is something fresh and interesting! have faith

I don't think it will because this is just their marketing strategy. If they just market it as an action romance vampire movie it won't get the new audience it'll need to move into a sequel. All they're doing is basically saying that if you love mean girls chances are you'll love this too.

Not really into the whole Vamp thing, but just for the comedy and fight scenes this looks like a winner. Should be a fun distraction from everyday bullshit for a few hours if nothing else, LOL.

The vibes of this trailer is not the vibes I'm getting while reading the books. This feels like, well, Mean Girls and I'm kinda expecting something like Mortal Instruments or The Covenant and heck even the vibes I'm getting when I watched Twilight. This just feels so different... But I will still watch it because I love VA.

Holly Easter You phrased that perfectly. I just hope that by Blood Promise they capture the more serious tone of the books. I do like the Rose they picked though... she can play a somber mood well I think, given the right scene.

The best thing in this movie is Zoey Deutch.

They're trying to market it as a funny, witty comedy (like Mean Girls) because every supernatural YA movie since Twilight has flopped and they are all marketed as dark supernatural romances. Insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results. WE know what this story really is but the average movie-goer who hasn't read the books has proven that they don't want to watch dark supernatural YA romances, so the distributors are trying to show off the funnier side and show that it's different from the other supernatural YA romances to have come out recently. Will the movie be good? Who knows. But it is a GOOD thing that they are doing this so that the movie will at least have a chance.

i get what your saying, but i have also read the books and the series is actually leaning much more to comedy and a kind of dark humor then romance and darkness like twilight. even though this those involve alot of romance, the main character is a teen with attitude and a good sence of humor, you have too admit that after reading the books and i actually think that's what makes the story so entertaining and fun to read, because it kind of makes the whole story and it's characters more human and relateable. i personally have nothing against twillight and i'm not trying too commpare the two at all, but i know some people will take this comment like that since i mentioned it in the comment, but that's deffinetly not what i want to do, twillight is good in its own way, but it's just not my kind of book. sorry if i spelled anything wrong, english is my second language.

Vendela Olsson I definitely agree with all of that, but if I remember correctly the first book doesn't really have any of that stuff in it. There's no politics, just high school drama. They don't know about spirit yet until the very end, so we're only just beginning to skim the surface of the amazing intricate complexity in the way the magic works, etc. The first book was almost entirely high school drama. I have hope that if they make enough money to do the rest of the series they'll capture the magic and ethics and political shenanigans, etc.

I really hope they add the jokes about Mia in there. Those were some of the most hysterical parts I read in Vampire Academy.

Yea i understand that the books had their sarcastic humor, or dark humor, but it was still action packed with a some teen romance, but it wasn't the whole mood of the book, this movie looks like I mind as well go watch all the teen movies that i tried to avoid forever. All though if I get the chance, and find a chick who is willing to go seeing it, I'll probably give it a chance.

the thing that bothers more is that shitty Twilight became such a success and VA is such a good series, but even though I think that the film will be ok, its definitely not going to have the screen success twilight had. this so not fair!!!! when I thought that VA is going to be a movie I was like" yeahh!! this going to be so huge, finally!! everyone will love it!!" but now I'm convienced that is going to be just a movie just like all the other, and not even that good. so shame, I really wanted a sequel but watching this makes me thing that this series is going to flop. I just hope Im wrong :(

yes the VA series is definitely much more mature and enjoyable than twilight and it does seem as if the movie will kill that specialness that is VA...seems as if it will also kill my .imagination how Dimitri and Adrian and Christian and Rose would look...which is why im not watching ...they look much better in my mind...lol

The Mortal Instruments was such a shit movie.. It wasn't even 5% as good as the books. I haven't read the Vampire Academy, but this movie was also very bad..

I have watched this movie so many times and I still love it

I miss those good old days of Underworld...idk how i feel about this one.

guys, just face it, the book WILL always be better than the movie, I mean if everyone could just get that, we'll live in a better world. I'm just really happy because the book deserves a movie adaptation. and btw the trailer looks pretty awesome, go rose!

No one could've had better cast than this one, except the role of lisa dragomir was not really portrayed the way it was in books. However, I still love this movie.

Guys I know everyone is saying that it's going to be rubbish (even though I feel it looks fresh and great) , but a common error in book-movie trailers these days is that they tailor the trailer to the fans (who are probably going to see the movie anyway) , this way more people will be drawn in and there's a better chance for a sequel. A sequel which then means greater character development. Maybe holding off judgement until the movie comes out might be a bit more productive. Besides this looks snappy and sexy..great fun
