    Thanks for your videos. I did both sides of my LS 460 flawlessly from watching your videos. Patience is key. Do not drop any of the valve cover bolts! They are $16/bolt at the dealer. You can find an alternative at ACE for less than $2. Pay attention to details especially the little figure 8 seal and the little round ones. Use new ones from the dealer. Again, many thanks.

    Totally phenomenal to watch your video and see you take this car apart. I own a 2014 Lexus LS460 and was looking for a video to show me how to put the cover back on and especially how to put the little buttons back in that locks the cover in place. Perhaps you will show that in part 2. I can't seem to get those two things done after putting coolant in my car preparing it for a road trip to San Diego. Thanks. :)

    Did you go under the rear passenger side seat and discharge the fuel pump or did you just go straight to the engine bay and disconnect them both? I am about to do this job and I want to know if I need to discharge them first or not. Thank you

    How many miles on this ls? It appeared there was some oil on the rear plug near the firewall. Was that just from the valve cover/ plug seal? Mine was the same but I have not done the valve covers yet I'm preparing too. I was worried I have a valve guide issue.

    What about the vvti solenoid oil seals?

  • @_zach

    @_zach

    2 жыл бұрын

    Lexus tech here. Not necessary. The reason all of the other gasketing becomes an issue in the first place is because they are exposed to the exterior side of the engine where heat and other misc debris cause the seals to break down, dry out and allow for leaks, whereas those solenoid seals are neither touched for this type of job nor exposed elsewhere of the valve cover during its service life.

    Absolutely no hate on a DIY job well done, but from a professional standpoint, there are several one-time use parts that he failed to replace in this video. The feeling o-rings that were not replaced due leak over time and will inhibit properly lunrication of his camshafts, which will cause his engine to prematurely wear/fail if not addressed. This is why you pay 4.5 hours of labor at the dealership. For the experience of the specific know-how. That being said, this is a *very good* at-home DIY job and I'm not AT ALL criticizing his work, because I'm very impressed with what he was able to do. However, this was not a professional job. The producer of this video also never claims to be professional nor to do professional level work.

    @@FayeHadley You start your passive/aggressive critique of this mans (IMO, very helpful) video by saying "from a professional standpoint, blah blah blah", I gather from this statement you're a Lexus Certified Repair Technician or..... at minimum, an ASE Certified Technician, correct? I only ask because you speak so confidently about @friendnfamily9053 "failure" to replace one-time use parts... yet you fail to mention the names of the parts he failed to install. Unless, it's burried somewhere in your post between criticizing his lack of know-how, then stating that you arent criticizing him, then going on to state how his work was unprofessional yet you were impressed with it...oh lawd...my head is starting to spin, damn. AH, wait a second,....I see it!!!! SIlly ole friendnfam, you was to have replaced the 'feeling o-rings" or face premature engine failure...maybe you are a dealership tech that sounds scary. I may have to change the O-Ring on my feelings, too. Look here toots, anyone whose been on KZread for more than a day, knows when they are watching content given by a Brand Certified Tech or a DIYer out to lend a hand to the rest of his Lexus Internet DIY friends... (NFamily9053! see what I did there? that shit was funny). You tried to sound important and knowledgeable but "TO ME" only came off sounding like a hater. Actually, instead of helping us, you did us a disservice! You got me all sweaty tryina figure out what the (at least 3) one-time use parts I didnt replace are and I still cant locate the O-Rings for my feels! Uh-oh now I need a new O-ring for mah B hole cuz the nervousness is given me the bubbleguts somethin fierce and...yup, I can feel all kinda gutsa are gonna break through this old, worn out B-Hole-O-Ring that my unprofessional ass never replaced (that's what you call a 'call-back', kids) Next time keep it in your pants. It's not OK to go around being a jerk, unless you're me, being a jerk to jerks who try n make people feel bad for trying to help others. Do better EDIT: Ooh look, you are a tech! very cool (and cute, too - with all respect)...regardless, I stand by every word EDIT EDIT: All Girls Garage! Is that your show?? I've seen it more than a few times, I like the show. Feel free to roast, I still stand by my every word. :) (send me an AGG t-shirt)

    @@jordanchen881 Hi Jordan, I think it is more than just a simple drain and fill. You don't have to get the car very high, but high enough that you can have good amount of space to safely work under it, to remove the transmission bottom cover "belly" which is right under the middle of the car. Hope someone in here can describe it better!
