Randy (Nicolas Cage) and Julie (Deborah Foreman) fall in love, 80's style.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A satiric romantic comedy, Martha Coolidge's Valley Girl is a testimony to the short-lived Southern California '80s craze. Julie (Deborah Foreman) is a good-natured teenager following a swarm of pastel pink valley girls, who utter "gag me" at every opportunity. To her friends' dismay , Julie breaks up with her egotistical boyfriend, Tommy (Michael Bowen), while shopping at the mall. All the valley kids go to a party that night, and Tommy immediately tries to bed one of Julie's friends. Randy (Nicolas Cage), a bad boy from Hollywood, shows up and crashes the party. Open-minded Julie flirts with him before he is literally thrown out, presumably just for looking different. Smitten with Julie, Randy sneaks back into the party to talk to her again. Julie drags a whimpering valley friend with her to spend the night cruising with Randy in Hollywood. After an extended courtship, Randy is in love with Julie, and she must choose between him and Tommy, who wants her back. Her friends refuse to accept Randy, who makes many exaggerated attempts to win back her love. Finally, after she has a heartfelt talk with her dad (Frederic Forrest), love triumphs at the prom.

I was 14 when I first saw it. My bestie & I ran home from school & watched it everyday on our VHS tape. This is my favorite scene. And this is an 80s classic. I miss the 80s we did have fun, style, & great music. No social media!! We got to keep our secrets...😘😍👍❤️
OMG, this is the best. Watched that movie and thought, what an amazing movie, the soundtrack and all that was at the time. Never thought those amazing times will ever change or disappear, but the memories are always there. Great cast, great movie, and what great music in this one as pretty much all the 80s movies. Love it.
I must admit I cry hard sometimes for a decade of music that truly changed my life and the world. One after another , band after band, hit after hit. My long walks are showered with the decade of music that saved my life many times over and still does.

No doubt. Couldn’t agree with you more. I think the greatest era of music in my lifetime was from 1978 to 1983. Just think of all the great bands that came out of that five-year span. Altered images, Berlin, Depeche Mode, Echo and the Bunnymen, INXS,Journey, The Go-Go’s, psychedelic furs, the police, the Eagles, the motels, Oingo Boingo, the Plimsoll ‘s, stray cats, missing persons and the list goes on and on The way the music industry is today I doubt will ever hear that kind of music ever again😙

I started high school 1980! Miss it! I had the cutest tiny girlfriend she was a gorgeous blonde cheerleader and made me crazy when she kissed me. We never went all the way ha ha. No cell phones, almost no fat kids, playing outside, football games, malls, making mix tapes. Waiting for your favorite song on the radio so you could tape it! No porn except playboys and penthouse. I don't know how kids cope today.

I was in my early 20's when this movie came out, To me, Growing up in the 1960's and 1970's were great as a teen, Not for the music though, The 80's had some of the Greatest Music around.
If only things went that way in real life...Still a awesome classic

I get lost in a scene like this. I imagine my parents being young lovers living and dating in Los Angeles in the early 80s before I was born. Madly in love. Something about this song and all the sights. Funny how a song or a film can evoke feelings and images that are unrelated.
