Its not age that is catching up with Val. It's the skill of her opponents. I actually love that she's finally facing skilled opponents. Most of her past opponents were frankly nowhere near the caliber of fighter Val is and it made her look invincible. And it got boring. Her best fights were with Holly, Joanna, and Amanda- all world class and former champions. It's irritating that because she is a woman people are suggesting she is getting old and that is why she is struggling. Which is dumb. She's incredibly athletic and healthy still. She's just dealing with better opponents. I am glad to see her face adversity and have tough challenges.

Broke a minute part of a minute bone, nothing serious. Her hand got a bit, not completely, worse by the end. Then again racists always hype White people.

Watched it live and it appears that Valentina didnt put her hands on the canvas until AFTER the knees started. Seems like she was attempting to stop the knees once they started coming by intentionally putting her hands back down, a tactic that puts both the opponent and the ref in a tough spot. Was still a great fight from both athletes. They should both be proud!

There is starting to be an argument not that it's staged but that there is a narrative going on with the brass and judges/commissions, probably a ton of money exchanging hands, to help "guide" the decisions along the path ufc needs them to. If you think about the frequency of robberies in the ufc, vs all other leagues combined, its kinda blatant that something is going on. When the same judges and same refs are at all these shows, but only the ufc has high level atrocities of judging weekly, you just can't ignore that and claim its coincidence.

Math ain't adding up here. Sean strickland oustruck izzy 27-12 in round 1, 22-1 in the head, completely dominated and controlled the whole entire round. Got a knockdown and almost finished izzy - unanimous 10-9 round. Magomed Ankalaev dominated the entire round 5 with almost 5 mins ground control time, 18-0 significant strikes - Mike bell scored it 10-9 ankalaev resulted into a draw, other 2 judges scored it 10-8 ankalaev round 5. Jan had 0 significant strike in that round scored 9-10. And mike bell scored a 1:30 min turnaround by grasso a 10-8 that once again decided the draw, while the other 2 judges had it 10-9 grasso. These bullshit scores tainting fighters legacies, can't believe people are attacking shevchenko for this and doing anything they can to justify the draw. Aint no way in world grasso won last round 10-8

Obviously 10-8 is a hometown decision. UFC should stand on it.

Shevchenko & Grasso will be like Moreno & Figueredo. We definitely need a trilogy, the draw is questionable and inconclusive. Grasso was bleeding from the jabs Valentina was landing througout the fight (damage), Grasso's big moments was the knockdown, the big knees and another dirty boxing exchange against the fence. What im saying is both ladies had their moments but the decisive round was 5 and i don't think it was one sided in such a way that Grasso deserved a 10-8, Valentina made a mistake which allowed Grasso to take her back & control her for the last minute or so of the 5th round, up until that point Valentina was winning the standup exchanges in my book.

That judge is the brother of CJ Ross. His name is JC Sorr.

Fight was 3-1 in her favor going into the 5th round in a lot of peoples eyes. Jon Anik even made a comment about the champ needing to get a finish in the final round to secure a victory before the round started. Even if it were 2-2, most thought Shevchenko had done enough during the first 4 minutes of the 5th round to secure the win. The 10-8 scorecard was another gross example of Judges appeasing the UFC and scoring it how they think the UFC want the fight scored. "The UFC doesn't control the judging or have a say in judging" is a cop out response by the UFC and it's by design - they want to be removed from having any responsibility in the outcome of decisions by deferring to the judges... These judges have been around long enough to know what outcomes the UFC want in these scenarios and do their best to ensure they meet those expectations. Sports become more and more blatant with its favouritism. It's good for the sharp gamblers who take this kind of stuff into consideration though.

There were so many jabs that were wobbling Grasso! No way she won this fight. At 3:50 of round 5 she got lucky with Shevs mistake 1:50 of not so much gets her a 10-8. Common!

Venting is a strong word. She wasnt venting. She was just talking. Stop taking things out of context to spin a narrative. She is saying like it is. 10-8 was a disaster. If it was evn a 10-9 she would have won.

I hope Valentina can be around much longer. But every year in fight years is rough. Women too are unfortunately at a disadvantage because of hormones dying off. Late 30s and early 40s are those perimenopause years for lots of women. It’s super rough and your body just starts shitting all over you overnight. Injuries especially. I’ve been an athlete all my life, but my body tells me what I will and will not do now. The mind over matter doesn’t work. When your hormones are crap, it’s hell.

Val kept making mistakes with those stupid headlock , exactly the same thing she did in the nunes rematch that cost her the belt. Alexa slipped out of the headlock due that blood on her face which she capitalized. She may have won the fifth rnd but not impressive because she capitalized on a mistake. Still Val survived the 5th rnd which is impressive too. HEart of a champ. However; there were moments when Val could have face cranked Alexa on the 3rd rnd but she didnt and her corner didnt remind her

This.... One judge had it grasso, one had it bullet. The 10-8 bullshit decided the fight as a draw.

Val won 4th round,Grasso was bleeding in this round so damage wise she lost.

..... How is almost getting finished, running the entire time, and stalling a win in the 4th. Two judges didnt give grassso the 4th thats the only robbery.

Valentina won this fight in my opinion, yeah u can't knee a person I the head when their down on the mat..the ref allowed it and that's shitty on his part..the refs wasn't doing his job and the judge seemed to b more partial to Grasso..I can't believe how these 2 fights have gone because Val has fought 2 wars with Nunes and I kno Nunes can destroy Grasso..this fight game is unpredictable

Love Grasso, but VS won the fight. Mike Bell's 10-8 for Grasso in Round 5 was just horrendous. He must have been paid off.

She is 100% correct..... The FIX was in and this taints the sport.

10-8 is ridiculous. Those knees were legal, though, and I had Grasso 1, 4, 5, with a 10-9 in 5 instead.

I don't think so. Val is better. Val is also 35. Grasso is 30. In the UFC that's a big difference. And YET. Val is still as good as she is.

Where are the spinning kicks, the reverse strikes, the face kicks, and all those flashy blows Valentina used to deliver against other opponents? With as many times as she has taken down Grasso in the two fights, why hasn't she been able to get a submission? She needs to give some credit to Grasso

She didn't say Grasso did nothing. She's just saying she still won. You need to learn the basics of the fight. The flashy spinning shiit is not for everyone or anywhere. Last time it cost her the fight. So the experts were actuallying saying she was doing the right thing to restrain herself from the flahy moves. Now you are saying she did bad because she didn't use the flashy moves? LOL.

@@Tko_Seven Those spinning kicks and punches carry tonnes of power and can win you the fight instantly. You're right in that it cost her the first fight as she tried a desperate one in the last round and lost her back, but she does look like she's lost 10 percent of her athleticism and become a bit one-dimensional.

@@ericshaun6078what is "tonnes?" LOL. stop watching anime. you obviously don't have real martial arts experience. If the opponent is not moving, spinning elbow or just regular hook both can be strong enough. Back spinning attacks are good for catching an opponent who think it's their turn to attack and surprise. Valentina slightly slower than her prime but I really think it's the Grasso's tempo and timing that just happens to be awkward for certain fighter, like Valentina. MMA math is not regular math, more like more diverse rock scissor paper. Grasso's tempo looked very consistent and continuous that made Valentina frustrated. But Objectively, Valentina still won. you can watch someone like Weasel's to precisely count all the strikes and points.

Everyone in our house said going into the 5th Grasso had to get a knockout or submission to win, as we had it 2-1-1 Val at that point. So, with that said, I want to see the punch stats myself, but until I do, or maybe count the punches in the 5th round myself would be fun, I'd guess 45-15 Val, then one sub attempt negates that? There was no takedown in the 5th. So, one sub attempt trumps the other fighters punching domination in a round? If that's true, why do we even watch anymore?

There needs to be a trilogy The Other Women Fighters can wait and be patient and stand around and look pretty

Valentina is a very great fighter however she's getting old she has too much wear and tear it's time for a younger fighter to take her place I keep saying she needs to be a police woman she's really into military and law enforcement that would suit her perfectly and also she would be one of the few women on the police force that actually wouldn't need a male officer babysitter she wouldn't have to be accommodated by a male officer...

My thoughts have not changed. There is NO ONE LIKE HER IN THE WORLD. TRUE CHAMPION.

She also got hit a lot while holding grasso she have to learn how to ground and pound because she started hitting her at first but then she just laid there on top of grasso doing nothing.

A lot respect for Valentina great fighter her Spanish is excellent and clear and should be another Trilogy with Alexa and determined who is the real Champ. Peace ✌

I cant love her any more as a fighter! I realize she doesnt sell or promote herself very well. But anyone that has followed her knows how dedicated, focused and disciplined she is, how talented she is, dispite her numbers! Also, it appears she can answer questions in any language! Incredible!

Valentina won. Even if the 5th was 10-9 Grasso Shevchenko wins.

I wish the weight that takes down have in mma judging would change. Everyone knows, commentators even mention it, fighters can “steal” the round if they get a take down at the end of rounds. If a fighter does damage and actually makes something out of take downs, then they should win the round but if the other fighter is defending well, and not allowing much damage then the judging should be on the overall round.
