RAMBONES FESTIVAL-“RAMBONES" is a combination of the words Rambotan and Lanzones, two exotic fruits widely grown in Valencia town. Rambones Festival showcases not only the heritage and rich culture of Valencia and its people, but also one of the town's top sources of livelihood - Rambotan and Lanzones.
Rambones Festival is a celebration of bountiful harvest and thanksgiving. It is a display of faith where Valencianons express deep gratitude to their Patron Saint Nuestra Seńora De Los Desamparados, for abundance and countless blessings received.
Celebrated on the first week of October, Rambones Festival ushers in the weeklong fiesta celebration of the town which falls on the 12th of October.
Rambones Festival is celebrated through a melange of movements, display of colors (of red or dark purple to brownish-yellow), joyful dances and rhythmic drumbeats that build up to a festive cresendo. It portrays the fun and excitement of harvesting the Rambotan and Lanzones which are then placed in a woven basket. With full of gratitude and as a gesture of thanksgiving for the plentiful harvest, and prosperity, Valencianons offer their dances or "Halad Sayaw" to the town's patroness Nuestra Senora De Los Desamparados. This dance offering tradition signals start of the fiesta season wherein the Rambotan and Lanzones are the highlight of every household and are then offered to visitors who eat the sweet fruits with gusto.
