Just took delivery of mine and WOW! The Vaer S3 Traditional is 36mm of absolute perfection! I don't know where to begin. The brushing, the sleekness, the vintage tool watch vibe with it's black/amber dial and it's flawless, high-end finish. THEN there are it's specs/features: 36mm case, 20mm lugs, screw-in case back, screw in crown, 100m WR, sapphire crystal and (best of all) QUARTZ! This is the watch many of us have waited for our whole lives: A quartz Explorer/Smiths Everest. I LOVE THIS WATCH !! Well done, Vaer.

This is the same movement that some middle tier Victorinox watches carry. While the Ronda 715 is bottom of the barrel in Swiss movement quality, reliability is solid and the price is adequate for a watch assembled in USA with Swiss parts. I think that adjusting for inflation, this watch is retailing lower than what the original Swiss Army Watches were retailing for back in the 90’s. If made in USA matters as it does to me, this watch brand deserves your support.

@gnarl12 With solar, you don't have to worry about changing the battery util it needs to be battery gives you 2-3 years life give or take. I say go for solar that my 2 cents

I have the stainless steel version of the C5. It's a great watch. I have only had it for a short time but have been impressed with it. I actually like it more the longer i have it. Thanks for the review.

For me personally, whether a watch is good quality matters more than where it was assembled. On this particular watch, they couldn't be bothered to get the second hand to line up. What more is to say about Vaer: their quartz watches are nicely finished and reasonably priced. But as soon as it comes to their automatic watches, I think they're a bit overpriced, which cannot just be explained with the price of the respective movements.

I agree Alex, that quality is paramount. For me, it's a very nice change to own one designed and assembled in the USA. I'd like to own an affordable British one at some stage as well. Thanks for watching mate 👍👍

Was there any timeline given regarding matching black hardware? I'd love to get this watch with a matching NATO strap, but the silver buckle would send me looking for a suitable 3rd party option.

The guys at Vaer told me it was due to be resolved by the end of June. However, you might want to check with their customer service team before going ahead. Thanks for watching 👍👍

I will gladly buy from North American or West European retailers or watchmakers. Chances of me purchasing directly from China are very small. This is solely based on stories of poor customer service.

Not just a matter of poor customer service for me. I will not support a country that has adverse interests to the United States. (Russia, China, etc.) China may be the manufacturing center of the world now and the quality of their products is often world class, but there are more than enough non-Communist countries making watches for me.

I'm still waiting for the watch l ordered 12 days ago. So far I'm not impressed with customer service, apparently there company is to small to take care of questions involving tracking/ETA and asking will somehow cause further delays.

I appreciate my big boys dowm south they real build amazing watches.. My only Pepsi 50 mm argon divemaster full lume dial. Orange evo 45 sunburst with a tank tread bracelet. Um. Master wing is awsome. Great customer service. I will get more but they are really nothing else on this earth. They just love good made stuff, when on my wrist and tells timeim fine but made like nothing else. I really like them. Wait for deals though sorry forgot. He marks down older watches and i got two for one. Two years ago. But i get emails from them and i love every one. Definitely American watches are very good at a good price. I cant pay that much for a watch like that. I know the difference.. I text like poo sorry

Its a great looking watch, but where it's assembled is meaningless these days, as for the price, well there are MUCH better alternatives for under HALF the price (some even MUCH less), so it's clearly not worth anywhere near it's price.

300 dollars for a quartz field watch? Unless it says Hamilton on it, absolutely not. I like what Vaer is doing, but that’s just not an attractive price.
