Others have put out videos showing to use quality freezer bags and to insert 3 strips of the zip lock top and that didn't work for me as the heat melted the bags. Most times I was just tossing bags into the trash. I can't wait to try this one looks like a winner to me. Only down side is I didn't think of this method myself before tossing more money on bags made for these machines. GREAT VIDEO!

I tried this now, mine looked exactly like this for my rice. I did use the good bags that came with it though, so looking forward to trying ordinary bags. One lady said put dry food in a paper bag first fold top over then vac seal in plastic, lasts lot longer. Hope that helps. Diana

Just take a large regular Food Saver bag and put a smaller zip lock bag inside of it with your contents, vacuum the air out of the two bags without sealing and then press the zip lock bag strip to seal tight, take it out and then seal the zip lock bag that has the tight vacuum on it.

I tried this but the air wasn't removed from the inner bag. Maybe I need a stronger vacuum sealer. This will only work with handheld correct?

I’d go broke if I had to fold bags to save money. (Big hands…) •I have found the issue with sealing non-standard vacuum bags to be the balance of melting the air channel without cutting through the bag. The solution I have found that works consistently better is to use a strip of material from a $.99 plastic shower loofa. It easily provides enough air flow and melts easily. It works every time on the flimsiest bags.

Get this if you’re serious about vacuum sealing. This is the most have unit. The only tiny annoyance is not being able to lock the lid when you put it in storage that is such a tiny nitpick however, it’s almost worth not mentioning.

I just vacuumed my whole house with a set of tweezers it took a year but I didn’t need to buy an expensive vacuum cleaner!

I see this is an older video, but the idea is still good. I do usually use premade vac bags; the cost is not high, and they can be washed and reused. When they spring a leak, I save them to use strips for sealing regular heavy plastic bags. But, this technique is a good one. Remember, the plastic cannot be too light or flimsy or the sealing process will just melt through it. I am assuming the V cut is to facilitate pulling the air through the channels created by the two folds. A good method in a pinch, or if you do not have access to premade rolls or bags of vac seal. I forgot to say that if you were using this method frequently, I would sit down and make a big stack of prefolded and cut bags, all ready to go, in a stack, lightly weighed down or rolled up. Ready to go!

I have tried other gimmicks so I might as well try this one also. If something doesn't work soon I may throw my food sealer in the trash.

Point is that foil used, has to have barrier properties, moisture and gas barrier. There is no use to vacuum seal normal PE bag

U can use reg ziplock bags, cutting a slot for air removable

Easier way than folding it etc u just turn the bag to the side and seal each side to create the airlines then it will vac seal no prob

Fold 2 inches. Fold another inch. Cut a triangle triangle in the middle. Pull out a slide ruler. Calculate the cubic inches of the bag. Throw bag away. Buy regular vacuum sealer bags. What a hassle! 🤣

I tried to seal a side of beef with this method. I had to use a heavy duty 60 gallon contractor's construction garbage bag, but it worked and got the job done.

I will stick with the good bags. I mean that was the whole intention why I bought it. If I was going to use regular then I would use regular
