Vacuum resin infusion of Soric® XF and carbon

Ғылым және технология

This tutorial shows how a Soric® XF composite sandwich can be vacuum resin infused. The complete process is presented: dry build-up of the sandwich, preparation of the vacuum bag, degassing of the resin and infusion of the laminate. There are several epoxy resin systems suitable for vacuum resin infusion. We chose two common system and compare their performance (HP-Textiles HP-HE3000GL vs. GRM Systems LG 700).

I was impressed with your measuring vakum, ardurino? Where I could get or make it. Danke fur videoen. Interesting that resin would make bad surface.

Precise experiment. Great job. What was the weight of the resin absorption?

very nice, thank you for all your videos - can you please say how long was this infusion?

This infusion needed about 15 minutes to accomplish at an infusion length of 35 cm. I usually choose a speed of roughly 2 cm per minute (0.5 to 1 inch per minute). Speed depends, however, on the laminate thickness. Thick laminates should be infused somewhat slower to allow the resin to properly wet the fibers. Soric has a high permeability and allows somewhat higher speeds.

@@andreschavarria1450 Thank you! Next week I will do my first infusion and I hope it will work as expected - thank you for speed numbers. On vimeo you have video "Belastungsversuch Motorträger " - I din ´t understand the name of program you used to measure it - can you write here name of program and maybe the product number of the measurement unit?

Greetings. I am experiencing problems with the laminate produced by LG-700 resin. Externally, I get a beautiful result, as in your video, but after the sample breaks, fluffed brushes of dry fibers are visible on the edge. I can't figure out how to fix this flaw

It's probably too dry, either because you are not infusing enough resin or the infusion speed is too high. Check your fiber volume ratio. Full laminates should not have higher ratios than ~50%.

@@andreschavarria1450 My LG-700 fills the mold quite slowly, a 30 cm part is filled within 30 minutes with heating with a hair dryer. I don't use filling foam, just perforated XPS. Both layers of the sandwich and all the voids are filled perfectly, but the fiber bundles inside remain dry. The resin weight in the laminate layer is, of course, less than 50%

Sehr geil! Wie hast du das manometer gebaut?

Danke!
