Vaccine side effects are actually a good thing

Why you might feel sick after getting a Covid-19 vaccine.
Subscribe to our channel! goo.gl/0bsAjO
Every vaccine can have side effects like muscle pain, fever, or headaches; and some of the new Covid-19 vaccines are even likelier to give you those side effects than you may be used to. But the scientists who work most closely with vaccines emphasize that when a vaccination makes you feel sick, it's almost never a bad sign. And once you understand why vaccine side effects happen, you may even be happy to get that headache.

    No. It’s always harder to change someone’s opinion if they’re far on the other side. This is more for people in the middle of the vaccine-willingness spectrum to understand why they feel sick. I commonly hear people say they don’t want to get a flu shot because it “makes them sick.” This video targets those people who don’t have a full understanding of immunology and why it’s a good think if you feel this way. Getting the full illness can be more severe than side effects from a vaccine, so it’s better to take a little inconvenience now then to possibly have a larger problem in the future.

  • @klte1

    @klte1

    @@mli3793 Not quite. The virus does not stay in the body, because the mRNA is only a part of the virus itself. it never enters the nucleus of a cell, and therefore never interacts with our DNA. the m in mRNA stands for 'messenger', meaning it is just a set of instructions for our cells to create a protein piece. the mRNA is immediately destroyed afterwards. Our immune system realises that the protein piece should not be there, and triggers an immune response to create antibodies. the mRNA cannot do anything aside without a primer (something the vaccine does not have), and the protein piece created in the body is simply an antigen, which essentially is just the 'outer shell' of the virus (i.e. the target of the antibodies).

    @Projectile Live Because that's how medical trials work. You need to be able to identify what the actual effects of the treatment are, and that requires having groups that get the treatment, and groups that don't, so you can look at the data and tell the difference... and it's also important that people don't know which group an individual is in (as otherwise them may, consciously or otherwise, wind up treating people differently, leading to the data getting invalidated). It's called a "double-blind" test, and it's a well-established, and necessary, technique for trialling these things.

    I’m a nurse that works at a small community clinic. We’re starting to do walk-ins and I love it. For my more anxious patients, I love sitting down with them and taking time to explain this to them and answer their questions until they feel comfortable with their decision to either take it (or not). I don’t encourage to take or not, as I try to only stay consistent with being a point of reference only when there’s confusion. So far, no one has declined after explaining, and seeing them come back for their second dose and remembering me makes my job so much more meaningful 🙂

    Thank you doing your job, but honestly we simply do not have the data to make an informed choice. VITT, CVST is real. People have died. Yet no one talks about it, just brush it aside as collateral damage. Then there are virants that simply evade vaccine induced antibodies. Lowering efficacy to effectively 0. And finally there is breakthrough infection. Which from What I have seen can still be exacerbating. And immunity ( not sure immunity is the right word, may be protection; against severe symptoms) lasts just 6 months. I would rather social distance.

    @@00Tenrai00 your concerns are valid but even in the scenarios you mention, it's such an extremely small percentage. You can make a case for any vaccine side effects but the numbers are very small. Sure, you can study those effects and help eliminate them but to dismiss the covid vaccine because of a handful of people from tens of millions who could be adversely affected is a form of fear mongering. You probably have a better chance of being hit by a runaway semi truck than suffer an adverse reaction to a vaccine. Having said that, it's your right not to get this vaccine. But you might as well talk against getting vaccines for the regular flu, or shingles, or hepatitis, or hpv..etc, etc. There's always a risk of side effects but it's extremely low for the vast majority of people. With your logic, you might as well not drive a car because of the risk of getting into an accident - which is something more likely to happen than an adverse reaction to the covid vaccine. Just saying..

I think the best way to get through to him is by not arguing and really just talking and understanding the position he is in. You need to understand how a conspiracy theorist thinks and then find gaps in their arguments that may make them understand your point. I’m not sure how to word this, but I guess it is like you need to find a conspiracy theory to counter his conspiracy theory (not an actual conspiracy theory, just something so extreme that he would trust what you are saying, which is correct). Maybe try canceling some of his right wing news stuff if you can. Like if he gets emails or newspapers from right wing things, cancel them and try to distance him from these conspiracy theories. Also, if your mom is like you, then try to get your mom to talk some sense into your dad. Good luck kid.

    As a Respiratory Therapist with over 40 years experience this is one of the most misunderstood things about vaccines. I can't even begin to tell you how common it is for a patient to tell me they won't take the Flu vaccine because they think they always get the flu after they get the shot so what's the point, granted I'm hearing this in then ER where they have presented with the actual Flu. This needs to be aggressively explained prior to injection.

    Like my client who had both covid and vaccine said - vaccine is about 20% of what he felt during bad covid

    I got Covid 4 months ago, and got vaccine 5 days ago. Vaccine only made me sleepy and my arm sore just for 2 days. Trust me, It's not even 0.1% of what I felt with the real virus.

    really? Because some of the women I know have had horrible irregular periods and some of the worst pains after receiving this vaccine.

    This is probably the most pain I've felt. My entire body was burning hot but I was shivering and the headache was like I fell off a small building onto my head.

    Yes , i had that too mate , not giving out medical advice , people do it at their own risk , but my little brother gave me a good tip i think , on the same day you get the jab , take one weak pain killer to take the edge off it before bed and maybe take one when you get up in the morning , it helps a lot .
