You can use a portable breast pump if you exclusively pumping, otherwise, you can pump after every breastfeeding session to empty the breasts. If you are exclusively pumping then you should pump every 3-4 hrs. Also, monitor the output.

Yes right now he started solids but till 4 months he was only on expressed breast milk then from 4-6 months he had half BF and rest too feed. Gradually we made the change. I would pump and feed and the extra I would freeze so when I had to travel we had milk for him.
