@@johnsmith-zv1lo Very interesting. I used to have a motorcoach with a 12.7 L Detroit Diesel 8v92T (all-mechanical) that made ~430hp, 1,684 N⋅m @ 1.5 bar boost. The thing was a monster on the highway. 5.5 mpg/36L/100km, 300 gal/1100L fuel tank Think about the fuel consumption on the Dakar!

These run castor 927 maxima and burn off the oil with total loss like the JLO diesel. Most of these burn 30 or 40 weight fed through the bottom and burnt in the cylinder.

That's because there's no turbo! Normally asperated engines always have a snappier throttle response.

Had one of this on a drilling rig. Didn't have enough power to run all the hydraulics + two mud pumps. Replaced it with Deutz V12 then. Even better engine is two stroke Detroit V12. Have it on another drilling rig and this engine is bulletproof and very economic.

What a beautiful beautiful pipes where that delicious smelling smoke comes out that smells sooo very good that it is heavily addictive, delicious. And because that smoke smells so good, I don't give a damn how much poison comes out. The smoke and poison is ALWAYS too little. Please another video of an hour with only that exhaust and a lot more nice smoke!!

I like the mechanical oil injection pumps these have, about a few gallons on motul 800 2 stroke oil into the oil tank is the best oil for these, silkolene pro 2 sx is just as good but not cheap.

Run castor 927 maxima 2 stroke oil, thats what i would do if i had one and then feed it into the intake, Some Deutz ran total loss from a separte oil tank anyways

@@tigro9361 yes they can. Just not exclusively. Ultimately they always need at least a little fuel to begin ignition. But they can use less liquid fuel as the woodgas supplements it's energy.

Im Czech and i say that old good Czechoslovakian Tatra is best amongst trucks. Foreign brands like Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Caterpillar, Deutz etc. can go to hell. Really, i don't care about their specifications and abilities. Bulletproof, indestructible aircooled Tatra engine runs forever. #TatraLife

They run a separate oil tank then it goes through and the oil burns off for total loss. Always use low ash oil.!i have seen 3 cylinder deutz with separate oil tank and oil metering pumps, smokes a little until as the VRO pump is mechanical though.

Deutz air cooled can be configured to run as 2 stroke or 4 stroke. I have seen 6 and 3 cyl on barge winch and generator with a separate oil tank if a few gallons, there was a few 1 gallon jugs of motul 800 2 stroke oil near them so it could be added as it ran burnt off oil,!these were the 2 stroke valved versions with mechanical oil feed metering pumps driven off the front of the deutz engine! Sounded awesome too.

No I mean this engine at idle, at 1:49 sounds exactly like the magnum v6 in my old Dodge Dakota when it was idling. My trucks engine had a little bit of a whine from the alternator when it idled. This one has a similar sounding whine but idk what’s creating it.

Newer Detroit diesel and Cummins 2 stroke have much more power, half the size and are made of much better materials, newer is better

@@jlo13800 First of all, cummins is the only engine manufacturer that still makes reliable engines. ALL the other MODERN engines are CRAP. Also this tatra engine is very durable. It can live as long as a cummins
