+Double R Restorations You can adjust how close it is to your face. I like it tucked under my chin for protection. There are 4 holes and I have it the closest it can be.

Randy I have the same shield and I like it for everything except you cant wear a set of hearing muffs with it so I switch to my old shield when I using a loud tool, just don't like the ear plugs .

I like the looks of it, but I'm concerned that it might fog up in humid weather (i.e. the south). Still better than regular safety glasses, that's for sure! I would mention the need for lung protection, but I cut metal today without it too...cough :(

+farmboy30117 Have you tried some anti-fog stuff? I could see with your humidity having a problem. I wear a mask when painting and sanding paint but most other times I don't. Probably should wear one. Our dry moss is very dusty. I have never worn a dust mask then either.

Yeah, I don't wear one when baling hay either, but probably should. I've tried anti-fog stuff on glasses but only helped a little. I've ordered a similar mask from Amazon so I guess I'll find out.

hey mossman, can i make a quick suggestion to you? i would apply a layer of car wax on the face shield to help keep small particles from sticking to it and scratching it when it gets move around. also, Uvex, is a partnership with Honeywell and made in the USA! good job, can't wait for the rest of the videos of the rocker panel repair. is the boat still on the project list or has it been deleted? lol

Why did you take the guard of the grinder???? I guese you had never seen a disk fly apart.

  • @mossman381

+Dwight Mc Lean (dwight108) I am not sure what happened to the guard. This grinder is only used for cut off discs. I am guessing the guard was in the way at some point. I have never had a disc fly apart but I don't use broken or damaged ones and I make sure I don't pinch my disc while using it.

+Sir,I have heard that to often that it would ever happen to me. In my line of work,I have seen to many industrial accidents that has happen to people that had said what you had just said.

+Dwight Mc Lean (dwight108) I didn't say it will never happen to me. I said it has never happened to me. I would be naive to think an accident will never happen. I am wearing gloves and face shield. The grinder isn't in line with my face. I have had chunks of the cut off wheel come off but never completely blow apart. There is risk involved in everything you do. I appreciate the comment and your concern.

+mossman381 It should be a shop safety topic. You said a shield in your topic. this should apply to all equipment. There is a reason why their is shield or guards that are on these equipment , is to protect the person you sing the tool and anyone that happens to walk by..If you would know the speed of some grinders are running at 3500rpm. You say you are portected, do you know that piece of disk could fly any where. Maybe the next time the hold disk will blow apart. I guese taken a guard of a tabe saw or hand saw is ok as long as you are wearing gloves and a face shield is ok also.

+Dwight Mc Lean (dwight108) We didn't just take the guard off and say "guards are for babies". The guard was taken off because it wouldn't allow us to see or get in and cut something. I don't know if dad took it off or me honestly. I believe a grinder runs a lot faster than 3500rpm. The new battery powered grinders run at 7000-8000rpm and that is slower than the corded ones. The guards are all off my table saw. They just got in the way almost causing more trouble than they stop. I also had a really old chop saw that never had a guard. You have to use your head while working with equipment. They can have all kinds of guards and safety stuff and you can still get hurt. I am not attacking you and you are not offending me. I am just responding to what I think is an important comment.
