Uvalde 21 Murals Project: Extended Cut

"It's so important for people to come see this." An extended look at our visit to Uvalde, Texas and each of the 21 murals honoring the students and teachers who lost their lives in the tragic school shooting. Kelly meets with artist & professor Abel Ortiz and Monica Maldonado of MAS Cultura who organized the project, and surprises the group with $10,000 to help complete and preserve the project.

Yes...sobbing and promises to never forget, like Columbine and Sandy Hook right? Exactly like the past massacres right? "We can never forget" the famous words without any meaning! Everyone cried, held hand in vigils, singing songs of kumbaya, but then children are soon forgotten. Let us try and remember, when we say we can never forget, Exactly what do we mean by those words. Do we mean we love the children, but not enough to get involved in our communities to ensure their safety at school, or do we don't care that 18 year old gunmen aren't allowed access to AR-15 assult rifles to kill innocent children. Because I'm confused!! Are we just using KZread words for likes or attention, or are we telling ourselves lies to help us sleep at night. Our military fight and die for this country to protect us. Why is it impossible for citizens to pay it forward and fight in our communities to make sure our schools are safe. It's nothing our soldiers don't do for us. Citizens and youtubers expected cops to stop gunmen, stop the sell of assult rifles, make sure school doors are locked and protect your children. Everyone is looking for a handout, to leave the responsibility to the next guy, well good luck with never forgetting the children, good luck with keeping evil gunmen from targeting our children.

Kelly… thank you for sharing these beautiful murals with everyone! What a beautiful tribute for these innocent lives and their families. I pray that one day, their families can visit these murals and feel more love than loss. And also I want thank you for always showing your vulnerable true self. I believe that is just as much a beautiful tribute to the families who have had to face the most ultimate pain that a parent can face. You always keep it real.

As beautiful as this tribute is to those gone too soon when the heck is someone going to do something. How many innocent lives have to be lost before they decide its not going away. I'm so tired of hearing about some kid going into a school with a gun. If I lived anywhere in the USA I wouldn't be sending my children to school. My thoughts go out to all those who sadly lost their lives.

Idk what that feeling is but it's what connects us. Respect for life, connection between all who love, who fear, who hurt. I believe consciousness is all around and within us. Empathy is what will propel us together to the stars, maybe out there we will discover all those who we lost.
