UVA Class of 2024 Grads Bring Their Own Sunshine
On Saturday, the umbrellas came out. On Sunday, mud was underfoot. But nothing could dampen the joy of the graduates of UVA’s Class of 2024 as they walked the sodden Lawn. 7,616 degrees were awarded, 1,092 to first-generation college students. The future looks bright and will arrive soon enough but for this passionate and resilient class, the weekend was about savoring this moment, the relationships that sustained them, and wearing “the honors of Honor.”

Hello, thank you for your concern! The balloon you see depicted flying away in the video was an accidental release. The balloons not taken home by graduates are collected during the ceremony for distribution to children in the UVA Health Hospital.
