This garden refutes the idea that a garden is all about flowers. It is the opposite of a house with evergreens along the foundation with a row of petunias in front. I love the sweeps of trees and plants beside paths and streams. Utterly enchanting!

Dr. A is a wealth of knowledge ... this is a gorgeous garden ... but what an amazing, uplifting, inspirational story of a life from poverty to prosperity, not necessarily financially, but spiritually, emotionally. We should all, no matter our station in life, strive to live as this beautiful soul and to be happy in our "gardens" ... I am so thankful I found you, Jim, and your KZread - you have blessed me in so many ways - not enough words to express my gratitude ...

What an incredible garden and gardener who loves it deeply! I love that even though she had the desire and energy to plant and build the garden she also recognized and accepted Dr. A's deep knowledge and guidance to do what was best for the plants and garden itself and ultimately for her and other's enjoyment of it also! I do hope it will be possible to talk again with the owner and see her garden at other times of the year. 😀💖💖👍

What a wonderful garden!! I took a natural flora and fauna class in college where we learned to identify plants out where they grew. We learned to identify trees not only by their leaves but by their bark and other characteristics. Best class I ever took. What a beautiful, emotionally rewarding tour, Jim. I got a kick out of Dr A, his personality is fun and his knowledge of plants is evident, of course. I love his natural style of teaching that uses common sense and notices little things we all love in a garden like “walking under things,” that others might not have mentioned -these are little nuanced experiences we have in gardens and nature that we don’t often think about but they add to our enjoyment. And Ram was so lovely, with life wisdom and a beautiful spirit that brought me to tears. I wish her realization of creating beauty not only for herself but for the ecosystem could be shouted out to the world (or at least suburbia). Her recollection and horror of seeing the worms die when using the chemical pesticide should be shared with all gardeners. People just don’t think about other creatures and the ecosystem, at least for the most part. And that is killing our pollinators, birds, amphibians. It makes me sad but I am glad to see a gardener like Ram doing her part. Thank you for the inspiration and I look forward to another tour, hopefully in the spring!
