That must be the "100 year flood" that the infrastructure is designed to fail at. I wonder if the cost savings were worth it.

It never is but reguardless, you never know what the rath of Mother Earth will unleash on any spot on the planet. In Houston, Texas we have seen 1000 year floods happen more than once. Sadly, not being able to harness all that water for future distribution is something we need to address.

Sounds about right. I'm from Cedar Rapids Iowa, and we got our downtown flooded and completely wrecked in a 100 year flood in 2008, and there's already been a couple scares since then... And it boggles my mind that they're pouring so much money into the downtown area nowadays. Millions and millions of dollars, to make even MORE businesses than there were before... RIGHT on the river. I get that we can't be afraid to rebuild, but I'd hate to see it all get wrecked in the matter of days, which I'm afraid will happen again, way sooner than they think.
