Utah drivers urged to avoid road rage as new law takes effect July 1

Utah officials had a clear message on the steps of the Capitol when it comes to road rage; chill out and think before you act.

I think having consequences to road rage driving should have existed before now.

No. Your vehicle is a weapon. That’s why you need to be careful and treat it as one. Not using it for unnecessary harm. Drive safe and don’t endanger yourself or others

Before social media people learned how to interact with each other and learned sometimes you had to be civil even when you didnt want to be. That is long gone now.

Stop trying to milk drivers with speeding tickets and focus and dangerous drivers. If they really cared about safety, that's what they would do. But they don't.

Agreed. Less revenue generation more eyes available for serious reckless driving.

The problem will not be solved with new laws. We need more police on the roads. It’s that simple. I’ll bet there is a proportionality between the increase in road rage and the decrease in police presence.

Should also be equal punishment for people that don’t drive the speed limit, refuse to let people pass, and or brake check people. What was his brother doing to cause the road rage? There are two sides to every story.

Road ragers are looking for someone to dare to combat them. Rarrrrdny and his girlfriend would be alive if Rarrrrdny had kept on and ignored the challenge.

We need people to be more respectful of others on the road this is what causes road rage. Most people think ," it's all about me"."I'm in a big hurry, I'm more important".

IMO, the pandemic has emotionally, mentally, and financially pushed people over the edge. Those already with poor anger control issues are more easily triggered into rages. This is no excuse, but it seems people in general are going nuts over the most minute issue, no cookies, no ketchup, no hash browns, airport nuts, drive through, highways, ball games, etc. Everyone needs to take a step back and really think through the total consequences of rage anger. I, for one, believe they need to be made an example with harsh penalties and sentences. Be kind. No one is perfect, and mistakes happen. Get to work, school, or home safely. Let calm minds prevail.

Where I live. The road rage is coming from the fact they have built 50000 houses. In the last 10 years. But they have not fixed the roads. They are going through areas with existing homes.Existing property and using imminent domain to force people to sell their land to widen the roads for Subdivisions across the street. It's crazy how a developer can combiland build houses. And then they don't have to make sure that the infrastructure will be there for the future. I do construction about 15 years ago. There was an almond. Orchard. And the landowner did not want to sell. No matter the price, the government used imminent domain, forcing that farmer to sell his land so they could run massive sewer lines and drainage lines and make an easement. And to widen the existing 2 lane roads to 4 lanes. This is. Something that the developers should have been told. Hey, you're gonna build houses. Then we're gonna need wider roads. And those houses are gonna need to drain their sewage and storm water. Which means the county is gonna need to build this infrastructure after the houses. Are built, but if you don't already have the land to widen the roads and to run that infrastructure, you should not allow the permits for the builders to build the houses. You should tell the builders. You need to pay for all the infrastructure. You're gonna have to figure all that into the house. But they don't they build the houses? The county starts to collect property taxes. Then they decide. Now let's build the road with taxpayer money. But we're going to force property owners to get rid of their property that they don't want to get rid of eminent. Domain needs to disappear. If a person does not want to sell their land they should not have to sell their land if they don't want to allow government access, they should not have to allow government access. Otherwise, why do we even have private ownership

All I need to say is get out of the left lane and stop trying to be the traffic cop. If a person wants to drive over the speed limit to pass and you are obstructing the left lane you are the one at fault! Everyday I see people get on the freeway and do a mad scramble to the left lane and then sit there going at or below the speed limit. You are breaking the law! Even worse, I followed someone on the highway in a 60 mph zone and they were going 25 mph in the left lane of a 2 lane highway, completely distracted. Driving is easy. Be courteous, stay to the right and when conditions permit go the speed limit. But most of all pay attention

Consequences have actions... this law is as useful as gun free zones and just another money grab. It's in the wording "stiffer penalties."

I think it may help if certain corporations, who borrow money to buy land and build as many poor quality townhouses and condos as possible in areas where the infrastructure cannot support it, are prevented from doing so. I won't hold my breath.
