UTAH BDR...You won't believe this!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In May 2019 we set out to do the UTAH BDR. I had just been to Moab and southern Utah a in March and the weather was amazing. Leave it to us to hit record snow and rain on our BDR trip in late May!

Awesome journey through the gnarliest bits of the UTBDR! Unfortunately that Utah weather will win if it wants to. No shame in calling it... the trails north would have been impassible in a 4x4 with all the mud. Still... the Lockhart Basin is no joke! Well done through there!!!

I was in Moab May 14/15 2019 on my Tiger 800, just touring on tarmac. I hit Monument Valley on the 16th and winds started picking up. Checked the weather and tore down my camp and bolted to the warmth of a hotel in Flagstaff for a couple days while it poured, clearly the storm that caught you guys. Well done for riding it out.

Thank you and thank you!! Had a dirt bike when I was young (20) and rode the woods, strip mine and coal fields of Tuscaloosa and Brookwood Counties (AL) with a dear friend. That was 49 years ago. Over the years, I've driven motorcycles of all types - all owned by friends. It's been a dream of mine to take a cross country motorcycle trip since I was 13. Unless something remarkable happens, videos like yours are as close as I''ll ever get. Vicarious though they are, your videos are a treasure and better than any production from the Film Factory. There is an unseen uncool group of us out here who value your work more than you know. P.S. I don't claim your riding skills for one second. Day after tomorrow, my butt will unscrinch from watching your descent from the top of that hill.

Thanks for the kind words. Its comments like that that make the video process worth it. The whole point of me making these videos isnt to make the tiny bit of money youtube offers but to allow those as you said live through the experience as if they were there too and hopefully one day get out and do trip like this. I hop you are wrong when you say you will most likely never get out on a trip across the country. One think Ive learned, When there is a will, there is always a way! Just go for it!

Simply THE Best UTBDR video I have seen yet!!! Awesome job. Been through all those section at least 3 times and this video does the best job of capturing the moments of any! Wow. We were there literally a week later, and had 85 deg and sweltering through Lockhart. Saw a couple of comments calling it Lockhard, and YES, it is. While this video is about as good as it gets, the riding is actually harder than this video portrays. These guys are rock stars!!!

Nothing really shows how difficult that southern approach to Moab is like this. Great job guys. I did this with the family in the Tacoma except we moved much..much slower. Lol, you obviously don't watch many videos. Have you seen the videos the BDR group puts out by Noren Films?? They created this shit! Give them credit where it's due

@@GratefulOverlander Absolutely. Credit to all parties. I am a BDR rider, past member, and supporter. Kind of know sterling. All good. I probably watch a couple hours of KZread a night.

AA+ video. Last July me and buddy blundered onto Lockhart from Monticello. We were on DR650 and Honda 650L loaded doing the TAT. We made it to top of canyon at dark. Out of water we pushed on arriving Moab 3:00am. Thanks to this awesome video I now can see what we rode. It’s no joke!

We did Lockhart reverse from your trip last October and one thing we didn’t get was the trail footage. I am so glad to see yours. We had four Tacomas, an 80 series land cruiser, a guy part time riding a Yamaha 250, and a Jeep Cherokee. That ledge in the intro cost the Jeep a CV. We winched up 2 Tacos and the Jeep, and pushed the bike up. That trail is brutal I can’t imagine riding it either way!

+Flyanb for sure. I’ve ridin it both directions a few times and the opposite direction is definitely the harder route. There are two sections, the one you mentioned about the CV and another one about a mile after that that are damn near impossible if you don’t hit it just right. Thanks for watching

Wow brothers....nicely done!! That makes the WABDR look like stroll through park with an ice cream cone. I'd love to ride it but man that is way past my pay grade on tech skill with my GS offroad. Maybe someday. ;-) Anyways man, awesome. Keep up the great videos! -cheers-

Who would thumb down this video , makes zero sense . Probably jealous they weren't there . Some amazing country that Utah . Never been but one day soon hopefully . I can totally see the benefit of those Flex Bars . Trail so sketchy the drone turned around and tried to escape , haha .

Hardworking American hahaha that’s funny right there. The flex bars do help for sure. As far as the thumbs down goes. I ignore it lol. Shoot, KZread considers any interaction a positive so even the thumbs down helps me out. Jokes on them 😂

Amazing - awesome scenery and great riding. Some of the terrain you were negotiating had my palms all sweaty😁... impressive how you dealt with it, especially on pretty heavily laden bikes. I was engrossed from the minute you turned off the tarmac.

We ran Lockhart over Hurrah Pass, same direction you did. We had a 950 Adventure with us, but the other 4 of us were on lighter DS bikes. The guy on the 950 was waxed when we finished! Had a Yamaha break the crank gear and lock up halfway through! Spend several hours at the intersection just after you come out of the hard shit in the canyon decent. Finally got back to the hostel about midnight...fun shit, I’d do it again! Maybe not on my Twin though, but maybe! Enjoying the vids brother!! 🤘🏼

Biker Sasquatch thanks for watching. I’ve ran this section the opposite direction 4 other times out of Moab, but never this way. This way was definitely easier than trying to ride up everything lol. I’m a bit psycho though, and love the challenge. Safe riding, and looks out for more videos to come 👍🏻

I’ve driven Lockhart Basin in my modified jeep. Can’t imagine trying to do it on a motorcycle. To bad you have to focus on the road ahead of you and miss the Colorado River and all the beauty of Canyonlands.
