USWNT vs. France: U.S. 'resilient to any type of adversity' - Tobin Heath | Women's World Cup

Спорт

USWNT's Tobin Heath and Sam Mewis talk to ESPN FC's Julie Foudy ahead of their highly anticipated 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup quarterfinal match vs. France. Heath outlines the United States' resilience vs. Spain in the Round of 16, led by Megan Rapinoe's two goals from the penalty spot. Mewis addresses France's biggest threats and how she's trying to temper the nerves at her first World Cup.

In any previous interviews I saw, Heath is the only US player who gave the Spanish team their due respect. As unfairly as the USWNT has been treated by the US Soccer Federation, they have been treated like royalty in comparison to the way most women players & teams around the world are treated by their own countries. Spain has finally begun to step up and this team is the result. France, The Netherlands, Germany too. England's WNT coach Neville was basically told by the Football Association that he could have whatever resources he felt he needed - and that team is ascending quickly. Chile...not so much. Argentina....even less so. And still, the women on these teams play with heart and grit. Finally, women's football is beginning to find its way. A lot of this is a reaction to the US dominance, but in the poorer countries, almost all of the credit should be given to these women who continue to do whatever they need to do just to keep playing the sport.

I been a big fan of soccer for both the men and women's divisions and this tournament for the women's world championship has been the best one I have seen. It is true that compared to the men who have had 21 World Cups that the women are starting to catch up with 8 tournaments, but the level from the rest of the world is starting to show. The biggest competition for the 3 time world champions United States women team will be Europe without a question of a doubt.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the USMNT in the coming years and how they evolve with world class competition.

A Demosthenes oh goodness, look at what they’re saying! They mean they want a “clean”, not hacking or cheating game. This game has gotten terrible in the last 20 years...meaning the things that refs allow into a game is ridiculous. It used to be shoulder to shoulder contact and the stronger player won.. now players run up the backside of a dribbling player and also grab the shoulder to pull back etc etc etc.... too much cheating by players too slow or too weak has somehow become a normal part of the game and you know what?!?! It’s a damn Shame! 😔

@JMR Explorer Rumor, although she seems the type. Apparently the 'mystery girlfriend' is named Christopher

JMR Explorer Do you think they’re really together? I mean Tobin was at Christen’s naked body issue which I thought was a bit weird...ever since then I thought they might be together...

@JMR Explorer I can see Tobin as gay. Press doesn't look OR act it, though. Do digging for athletes and you'll find TONS of trips and holidays with teammates. They have a hard time getting to know anyone else. They go on holidays, and avoid each other? I don't see high odds. And if they are, and they're happy, so what?

When did people start talking like their asking a question when their making a statement. As far as the USA Womens Soccer team, all I can say is "The Emperor has no clothes"!!

Even if they lose to France, they're a talented team. They've got a questionable coach, but they've got clothes.
