"They edit in some extra crowd noise cos people are sitting on their hands watching some dull matches" Sounds like the WWE of today don't it?

...and here we are, in good ol' 2022...& Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley have taken over WWE, after Vin-Man had to leave, due to at least one "Hush-Money" scandal. (Rumors are, that there was more than just one "Hush Money Scandal")! Now, we're starting to see "Business begin to pick back up again". There's a lot of damage that Vince McMahon did to his own Company, such as hiring a "Creative Team", that could be known for being somewhat inept at writing good storylines at times. Even when they did come up with something really good, there were times when Vinny Mac would shoot it down, and even come up with his own storylines, sometimes with minutes, or even seconds, to spare, and if you deviated from the storyline even the least litt bit, then you had to face his wrath, backstage! Thankfully, those days are over. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley WILL AND ARE doing what's "Good for Business"! There's a long way to go, in order to get WWE back where they used to be, but I'm cautiously optimistic that WWE can recover and succeed!

@timmy8271b That's true. I think I should have broken that down a bit better. The actual working agreement started possibly as early as 1992 but definitely in 1993. Then the USWA officially became the developmental promotion for the WWF between 1995 and 1996 when guys like Glen Jacobs got sent down for preparation (which kinda sucked because Doomsday was one of the best gimmicks Memphis had during that period and he wasnt going to last more than a few months.)

Hard to believe that, at some point, Jerry Lawler actually sided with Bert Prentiss! Jerry also had some time, wrestling with Ronnie Gossett as his Manager, too! Jerry Lawler, at least at times, just went any which way the wind blew (So to speak). It wouldn't be a surprise to me to find out, that this whole USWA/GWF thing, was manufactured by both Wrestling Organizations, working in tandem (& in cahoots!), just to be able to raise the ratings for the USWA. We all heard Jerry Lawler talk about everything being done live (As opposed to being taped, like the Then-WWF did, back then). It also seems like that, throughout the CWA/USWA'S time of existence, whenever they needed a "Ringer", to help bolster the ratings, they'd find some of the most unlikely sources. Take Andy Kaufman, for example. He helped Jerry Lawler's Company. Jerry and Andy feuded for who knows how long...but what was never admitted back then..... Was the fact, that Jerry Lawler and Andy Kaufman were actually close friends! Remember the slap, that Jerry hit Andy with, on the Dave Letterman Show, back in the 1980s? That was actually Andy Kaufman's idea! He'd called Jerry, and told him to do that, in order to convince people that they were "Enemies". Jerry didn't want to hurt Andy...but Andy insisted on that slap! Why, you may ask? In order to help "Sell" the feud! The better "Sell job" you put on, the higher your ratings would go, the more merchandise you'd be able to sell...and, of course, the more money you'd make!

@winfir0 They were in 1996-1997, but not until then. In 1993-1995, there was a working agreement between the WWF and the USWA, but there was not an attempt to bring up rookies just for the WWF to use. That came along in late 1996 and early 1997.

@CSAlmanac Nah it started in 93. WWF brought up Men on a Mission, Well Dunn, Jeff Jarrett, Spellbinder and others from USWA.

Spellbinder, even as good as he was, didn't seem to really catch on in the Then-WWF. He wasn't there very long. I love his illusions that he used to pull, whether as a Face, or as a Heel. And-Yeah! He could definitely wrestle! I have yet, to this day, wondered why he never really caught on, in the Then-WWF. He'd of made a great WWF Champion, whether it would've been the Heavyweight Championship, or the I. C. Title, or even as a Tag-Team with someone else.
