Usually just 1hr 20 min, I fly with Ryanair Glasgow to London Stansted in 8½ hours!

Why fly with Easyjet between Glasgow and London Stansted, when you can add a little adventure for the same price? I flew with Ryanair, changing aircraft at a mystery location. It also allowed me to see how a 'green' country from the UK processes arrivals and departures during Covid-19.

Ever since Ryanair had that attitude of openly treating customers badly. I haven’t used them once. I’d rather pay a bit extra to use another airline than Ryanair. I’ve never had a problem with Jet2 and sometimes British Airways were a great price.

Ryanair and Stansted...what a combo! I flew a weekly commute with Ryanair a few years ago and found it pretty exhausting because they'd never leave you alone for more than 5 minutes. Whenever you were just about to nod off, they'd pester you again with sales of food, drinks, perfumes, lottery tickets... first the loudspeaker announcement, then another visit by cabin personnel. Cheap and punctual (which was why I used them) but fun free which is toxic if you repeat it weekly... And Stansted...well...the user ratings say it all, don't they?

In1947, I was 17 and living in Ralston and travelled with the youth club on an outing from Glasgow ( Renfrew) to Edinburgh and return the same day in a BEA DC 3. This was my first ever flight. Little did I realise that 20 years later, I would be flying a BEA Viscount on an almost identical route from Glasgow to Edinburgh and onwards to Aberdeen.

I think I may have mentioned before - if you want to call Stanstead "London" then you may as well call Berwick "Edinburgh". Stanstead is well half way to Cambridge. Anyone thinking of flight bargains, first needs to factor in the travelling costs from such an outlying area in the countryside, into the capitol.

A man after my own heart - forget the direct flight, find me a connecting flight with a long connection any day. Don't understand the 'no filming' stuff though, seems to be more prevalent these days but makes absolutely no sense at all! Great video as always Scott, and really handy to see the reality of Covid checks. I can't wait to go international again, but was waiting till all the faff was over!

Hi Steve. I was speaking to someone at Glasgow Airport recently about filming, and there is no hard and fast rule on photography or videos. As long as I don't film staff, passengers or airport infrastructure which could be seen as security-sensitive, staff are expected to turn a blind eye - as long as it's for non-commercial reasons. That's a grey area when it comes to monetised KZread videos! Having a black camcorder on the end of a selfie stick obviously attracts some attention, and so I'm just asking for trouble. A mobile phone is more discreet, but my phone quality is not up to scratch. In regards to flights I recently found a fare of £25 Glasgow to London Stansted, but in involved a 36 hour journey flying Glasgow-Krakow-Oslo-Zagreb-Stansted.... for 25 quid! Krakow required an 8 hour overnight layover at the airport, and the connection at Oslo was just 1.5 hours (too risky between low cost airlines) and there's still that wee problem called Covid and arrival/departure health requirements. I think it's still too early for these crazy adventures, but in 2022 who knows. 👍

If you buy a through fare with a connecting flight, you are often allowed a maximum of 24 hours at the connecting point before it changes from a 'connection' to a 'stopover'. European airlines are great for that, and I've managed to squeeze many mini city breaks over the years. 👍

Never been on a Ryanair flight in over 15 years, since they left us stranded in Hamburg when they cancelled our return to Glasgow flight, due to (fog) but others landed and took off, took a day and a half to get home, as Ryanair only issued us with a slip of paper telling us, to basically make your own way home, disgraceful, so a day and a half later, after a flight to Bristol and a hotel and another flight the next day to Glasgow, and £600 down, ruined a great weekend, finally got refunded about £26 as ryanair deducted fees and taxes from the flight price, so never been back and i never will fly on them again.

I flew Ryanair the first week they were in business back in the 80's. They had no planes of their own but chartered aircraft from Romania complete with pilots. They were a tight assed outfit from the get go. I remember their inflight snack was a cup of tea or coffee with a small packet of biscuits, or a soft drink without the bikkies. They ditched the Romanians after they missed the runway at Cork airport, landing on the grass instead.

Yes, and no-doubt you haven't included the costs of getting to an airport that's at least just as near to Cambridge, as it is to London (I know the area), AND then there's your end in Scotland which you'll know all about, as well. I reckon that if you were to leave Euston, your train would already be well into the Midlands, probably Manchester, by the time your plane takes off.!!! If you find Euston expensive, go from King's Cross and get a local cheap ticket from Edinburgh directly to your home station in the Glasgow area.

Quick question that I have often wondered. If you are flying from one UK airport to Heathrow, or one of the other airports around London, do you need a passport. The reason I ask is, I do not have a passport and thought on some occasion I might fly to London instead of going by some other mode of transport. Great channel by the way.

I despair with airport police and security. Do they really think that someone openly carrying around a camera like that is a security risk? If they stopped to think about it, they would realise that any would-be terrorist or other criminal would be using a tiny camera worn on their clothing or bags, that is so small that they'd never notice it. It used to be said it was a sign of getting older when police looked younger; now I think it's a sign of getting older when police are getting less and less competent.
