A truly magnificent Alap and Jor. The meends are stately.The shape and color of this raga comes out in layers. Nothing gimmicky about the Jor part. It truly adds to the Alap in content, style and color. Quite remarkable. Of the string instrumentalists only Imrat Khan does this with regularity. Even the Jhala does not descend into "mayhem". The raga is heard throughout the Jhala. Many thanks for this post.

if this is the first part of the even longer Kaushi Kanada from Columbia University in 1982, itt's definitely Swapan Chaudhuri. I'm comparing this to my files currently. Will post my perceptions soon (i'm a layman so no technical comparisons I'm afraid.
