LONG LIVE THE MIGHTY TEXAS!!!! LONG LIVE THE LAST DREADNOUGHT!!!!!!

Yes the last dreadnought. Pretty sad, that nothing else got saved of that powerful class of ship. It would have been cool to see something like California save their ship, or Nevada, a British one would have great. But at least we have a mighty ship representing the class.

It’s really expensive to preserve the ships as they get older. USS Olympia is literally bandaged to keep water out, and the museum group can’t afford to give it a 25 year fix. I think one of the Pre-Dreadnought was preserved (USS Oregon ?), but was scrapped as it was, like Texas, collapsing at the waterline.

We should thank Admiral Nimitz (a Texan) and his famous radio address in 1946 rallying Texan schoolkids to donate their pennies and nickels to save Texas from either the scrapyard or Operation Crossroads. The Texas government refused to offer a single penny to pay for her to become a museum ship so Texan schoolkids, with the support of Nimitz himself, made sure she would be saved. A new generation of TX schoolkids did the same to raise $15M to drydock Texas in the 1980s after the TX government dragged their feet and didn't care if Texas was saved or lost. Those schoolkids are now all grown up and Texas as a result from the TX state legislature received $35M of interior repairs to the rusted/about-to-break frames holding her gigantic engines and other equipment in the lower decks and in her current drydock/pierside repairs the Texas taxpayers are paying $60M for this exterior project (this is not part of the $35M interior project of the 2010s).
How many ghosts of the men who sailed her during her remarkable career were standing at attention at her rails? Thank you, Texas, for preserving this magnificent piece of history! 🇺🇸⚓

a misty morning and a dreadnought? perfection
The ol' girl is back in her natural element and looking great. A huge WELL DONE to all who worked on her. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. This morning's fog provided a sense of drama to the event of her emerging from the dry dock. I'm old but I hope I live long enough to see the Texas fully restore and open to the public again. I want to walk the decks of this magnificent ship one more time.

She still has her 20mm galleries atop B and D turrets. 3 single 20mm cannons on each side. Except for the removal of the smaller caliber guns she is mostly unchanged from 1945. It's so cool.

Great to see her back in the water where she belongs, a very important piece of naval history, thankfully getting the TLC she deserves.
A floating piece of American History!!! I’ve toured her twice, can’t wait to see her again after the restoration!
Such a beautiful lady. The pride of Texas. I first saw her in 1965 and been back a few times. Can't wait to see her again. I wonder if any of the men who sailed her are still living. Thank you to Texas for saving her. She is one of a kind, the only one in the world. God Bless Texas.

What a majestic ship she is. Fitting to be representing Texas!
The Texas is looking fantastic, and majestic with water under her keel onec again! I'm glad we found a way to preserve this last of the dreadnoughts!
I am so glad that she has been getting the needed repairs and didn't end as scrap. Looking forward to the day when I can bring my grandkids to visit.

As a plank owner on USS TEXAS CGN 39 it warms my heart to see battleship USS TEXAS in the water again. Thanks to all who worked on her.
Last stepped on her decks in 1998. She looks great, almost ready for another 110 years for generations to walk her decks.

Magnificent ship. God bless her and all the souls that served on her.
She looks REALLY good for a young 112 years old! Those are really big guns,! Thanks for the awesome drone footage and nice music!
It is a beautiful sight. When I watched this and as I watch other videos showing the ships, planes, vehicles, and places of WW II, I am always struck by how vivid they are. I grew up watchin black and white and poor quality video and photos of WW II, it gives history and the people and things of it an other worldly feeling. It's when I see a video like this or visit the actual ship or place it reminds me that in the past they saw the world the way we see the world today, in all its beauty and depth, not the way it was recorded for posterity. That is something I think we forget, that it was real, not just words on a page, or a photo, or a grainy video, but real life just like now.
This video showcases a LOT of hard work by a lot of folks. Great to see her floating again. Quite a bit of work obviously remains, but she's getting there.
The Lady has a new cloak worthy of her service and beauty!!!
That fog added to the ethereal effect of the ship being reflected and moved. Glad you made it down in time to record this.
Wow, thank you! I was there just over a week ago. I was hoping to see this happen, so I'm glad you have captured and shown it ! It's actually a bit emotional to see it happen! it's just so amazing and exciting to see such history restored for many to see in the future 🙌
Born again! Reminds me of getting underway and leaving Norfork... perfect day to get a ship underway!

I donated to its restoration several years ago. It’s nice to see it still alive! The fresh paint looks great too!
I can't help but think of the importance of this battle ship. More so, I think of the men that served on her and have so long ago passed over into eternity. This ship had church and mass every Sunday of its active duty life. Like all ships, she had a unique personal that was established early on and carried throughout much of her life. I'm Glad to see her afload and ready for another 60-80.
That was the best thing I saw today
This put a tear in my eye. Seeing a beautiful ship in the water and out of dry dock. History in the making.
Great footage, i love it
What a wonderful piece of history preserved the right way! She's the last dreadnought, we have to keep her floating!
Hooray!!!!🤠
Thanks to those who saved this great monument for our country!
How Beautiful 🥰♥️ I so wish, they bring the Battleships Back, for they are so Beautifully Magnificent in so many ways ! ❤
She’s beautiful with her new hull plates and paint. I can’t wait to bring my grandkids for a visit and tour!
Love it! Still, much work must be done to restore this Grand Lady to her beautiful self.
It will be great when the battleship is back open. I tried to get to the ship back in 2003 to tour the ship, but I arrived after she had closed for the day and I had to continue my drive home to Florida. It looks like I can now plan a new road trip for the summer of 2025 and I will give myself plenty of time for the visit. Thanks to the state of Texas for taking such great care of this historical warship~! Shalom
Her coat of blue-grey paint looks magnificent!!! Thank you for this video!!!
At last I see the great Texas re-floting! You all did a great 👍! My warm congratulations 🎊 👏
the quality of the footage is amazing , were it not for the actual; people walking on her decks one would think this was a scale model with a high resolution camera, beautiful work! Texas has water under her keel, the last of the Dreadnoughts is alive again!
She’s looking great! I salute all those working to restore her to her former glory!!🇺🇸
Nice footage of the leak test and floating. Thanks to you and your drone for capturing this time capsule with Mr T. 👍👍😀
Incredible ship The color really makes her stand out..😊😊
Blessings to USS TEXAS and all who mended her, support her, and will maintain her. Today, she is the fastest battleship in the world. A little over 2 weeks from now it will be time for USS NEW JERSEY to be fastest!
She’s so majestic
One beautiful sight seeing her refloated again. Can't wait to visit her!
Excellent Video Presentation, As Always !! Thank You For Sharing This Incredible Journey ! Go TEXAS !!!

Visited USS Texas battleship many times. A beautiful ship.
Thank You all for your service and those who saved this beautiful piece of American history. God bless Texas. 🇺🇸
The Mighty Texas lives on!
I took the drydock tour back in June '23. As a kid, I climbed all over and seeing her from that perspective was awesome. Now that she is afloat again, I can't wait for the restoration to be complete so I can visit her again.
I've got tears in my eyes and I'm al choked up. God, she looks beautiful. Even better than her last restoration. Long live the queen.
God bless Texas!!
Our Grand Lady is afloat again.....Come On, Texas !!!
The only thing cooler than the ship floating and moving with tugs is for the ship to move with its power plant! Huzzah to everyone involved with this project. THANK YOU
The fog, the ship. Perfect
She is beautiful! Texas lives again.
So good to see her back in the water again
Awesome! The last dreadnaught.
I saw it a few days before on 3/1/2024 while the Norwegian Prima was leaving Galveston TX. Amazing!!!
Fantastic footage! The fog was an amazing setting for seeing her in the water again.
Went aboardTexas in 62 as a jr high field trip and again in 72,, at 74 now I can still visualize the experience..
The initial push back with the opposing shore and buildings, looked like a colorization of the ships and the background was black and white.... looked stunning.
A ship is not a ship it’s a vessel that can be a feeling to people who understand the ways of the heroes who worked on her USS Texas is something else to be brought back alive again long live the mighty vessel USS Texas.
Awesome. Just awesome to see this, and that people are putting some serious cash into her renovation. Here's to another 110 years of The USS Texas!
TO THE MIGHTY DREADNOUGHT USS TEXAS SAVE JOURNEY'S HOME AND GODSPEEDS AND THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HARD WORK ON THIS PROJECT
The fog makes it look even better. Like a ghost from another time. Almost scary. But absolutely gorgeous 🥰.
Gave me chills as a veteran!
I grew up literally in the shadow of the Monument and the Texas. As an elementary school student we gave, I think nickels and pennies to help get Texas placed at the Battlefield Park. Many was the field trip to roam over the ship. Great memories indeed. Also, back in the day when they removed all of the wooden decking, my father was able to get some of that discarded material and made me two shadow box frames. I have often wished that wood could talk. Thanks for sharing the news. Appreciated indeed.
Dude ! Dude ! Brought tears to my eyes ……
I love these magnificent ships. I am glad that so much effort and money is invested in their preservation.
Nice to see History restored.
Glad to see this, in 1978 my brother, daughter and I went to Battle Ground Rd., and went aboard and checked out everything you could have access to. It was great.
Dang she's looking really good. This Texan is impressed and delighted.
She lookds fantastic! Thank you for taking the time to document this!
