    Hi Christy! I have an idea for your Viking bkgrnd; an old world type of map?either bkgrnd paper or stamp? I have the very old Stampin'Up! 4x5 stamp of an old world map, doesn't help being we aren't neighbors but an idea...as well as the Lawn Fawn Ahoy Matey ship, etc?!

    @christygetscrafty you're welcome! I also thought about the MFT Party Like a Pirate set but also realized the ships are pirate, not Viking ships! I just always trust my card recipients to use lots of imagination🤭!I enjoy watching/listening to your tutorials and I do mostly cutesy and have lots of Lawn Fawn, MFT, Hello Bluebird and Lots of Darcie's (from way back) and Whipper Snappers but the last two have NO dies so I shy away from those! Not much fussy cutting for this old gal anymore! Take care and I look forward to seeing your creations❤️

    I love your card, it is so happy and cheerful!! I love seeing and hearing your brain in action. How you vocalize your thought process and why thinks work versus why they don't is really helpful. Those critters are so cute. You colored them so happy and bright, I love them. The background is beautiful, your coloring is so amazing. I totally agree that your card is super cute as is and doesn't need any further embellishments. I didn't know that you couldn't use retired stamp sets for design teams. The reasons make sense but is it that way for all of the design teams or just Hello Bluebird? I always wondered why so few card designers don't use more of the really cute stamp sets that have been discontinued and now I know. Thank you for sharing that. Your king looks like it could be a perfect boys card that could work for anytime of the year. That birdie brown unicorn girl is one of my favorites and I would love to see you do another video with a card you make with her. She is super cute and the patterned paper you found was amazing. I was hoping you would show us how you finished that card with her. If you don't do a video showing how you finished a card with her, you should definitely show us her finished card, anyway, because she is so sweet and you always make amazing cards. Thank you for doing this series, it is one of my favorites and is usually the way I make cards because trying to plan out most of my cards would be impractical because I have a large family and not much time for cardmaking. Unlike you, I am not very creative so I rely on you and others like you, to inspire me and give me ideas on how to use what I have. Even if I am not inspired to make a card just like yours, you give me ideas for what I can do with what I have. I am no queen of patterned papers like you are but you help me see the potential in how to use what I have. Thank you for your channel and for sharing your talents and creativity with us. You are such a gem. Speaking of gems, your Gemma is beautiful and I loved watching her and your husband(?) Playing with her. Such a happy moment to catch on video. Have a wonderful week and thank you for all you do. Lots of love and big hugs to my dearest crafty friend!

    Thank you so much, Rose! 🥰 Yes, that is the case for all stamp companies, at least with the several I’ve worked with. Once a stamp set is retired, we designers are asked not to use it. The company is a business, after all. They need to make money to stay in business and promoting sets that can’t be purchased doesn’t help them in any way. I DID make a card with that Birdie Brown girl already, so I can’t make a video showcasing it, but I will share a photo! I’d actually taken it to work already to sell, but I saw your comment in time so I grabbed it back out of the basket so I can snap a pic first.😊 I’m glad you enjoyed my video of Gemma and my husband and I at the beach yesterday! It’s so rare that I get to enjoy any part of the weekend, since I work all day Saturday, do my grocery shopping Saturday evening, church Sunday morning and then brainstorming ideas and blog posts, links, etc for the rest of Sunday afternoon and evening every week, but somehow I managed to finish early enough yesterday to enjoy an evening walk on the beach and it was so nice! Too nice not to share.💕 Have a great week, my friend!

    Hi Christy! Since your on many design teams do you ever feel pressured to complete the required card commitment? If so, How do you go about handling the pressure? If not, how do you keep on task? 😊

  • @christygetscrafty

    @christygetscrafty

    It can be overwhelming to meet the design team commitments, so I try to limit myself to only two at a time now. I’ve been asked many times to join other design teams, and as much as I would love to work with them, I do know my limits after so many years of card making. So yes, I do feel the pressure all the time, but I don’t get overwhelmed by it often because I don’t take on more than I physically have time for. I keep a separate calendar for filming and design team commitments and I fill it in as soon as I get my assignments and also mark off the days that I’m working at my job, etc, so I know what days are left, if anything. So if I get asked to guest design with someone, I can check my calendar and see if there are any dates where I can fit that in or not. That’s what I would recommend to anyone considering joining a design team or multiple design teams. It’s not fun anymore if you get burned out, so know what you are able to do, and don’t say yes to anything beyond that. I hope that helps! Let me know if I should make a video on this or if you have more questions!☺️

    Any advice on selling cards? I've had them in a couple of small shops and both went under due to not enough business. Online maybe? Where? Any advice would be most appreciated. You all know after putting a small fortune into all the things then you find yourself going.. what am i doing here... lol.

    I wish I had better advice for you. I've never tried selling any of my cards online, as I worry the cost of shipping them safely is almost equal to the card itself and that people wouldn't be interested in paying so much. I just keep a small basket next to the register at my workplace. I keep it stocked with 15 cards at a time, and I sell them for $5 each. My boss keeps a dollar, so I make $4. Not exactly enough to mitigate the cost of supplies, but it does feel nice to know that people enjoy my work enough to purchase them sometimes. I sell between 1-4 cards per month typically, so like I said, I might not be the best person to ask. Maybe try one of the card making groups on Facebook? I know there are people who sell at craft fairs and Etsy and places like that, I've just never tried that myself.
