Using The Prospek - Learning to Draw Basics

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video explains how I use my proportional divider as a teaching aid as I learn how to draw and replicate images in either a smaller or larger scale.
Do you want to learn how to draw? I do, and I've tried other methods. From experience, don't use a light board or a projector because they'll only teach you to copy. Copying isn't drawing. You'll thank me later.
The proportional scale divider is an affordable tool should be in every artists toolkit, so if you don't have one, I highly encourage you to locate and purchase one.
I have the link to purchase this on my website.

ALERT I uploaded this video a second time. The first time - the video frame would stop during play, audio wouldn't match video, and general FUBAR. Come to find out - this has been happening across the KZread platform for the last 24hours or so. No comment from Google or KZread on the status of the platform, but "it's not my video" is my story, and I'm sticking to it

At the time of uploading - the KZread platform is experiencing technical issues with video freezing and audio sync issues. I uploaded this video a second time thinking it might be my codec or OS - but alas.... it's youtube and a widespread problem.

A day later and KZread passed word that they fixed the upload issue. They are now fixing the thousands of videos that were uploaded and have the issue is going to take some time. I'm just going to leave this video up - and upload a second version with updated information regarding the plastic prospek took (still under $10) that I found at Jerry's Artarama.

@@saveriovarela1826 I give that a 2 on a 10 scale for troll bait. Nice attempt though. But, you should work on your insult repertoire ..... something like "Ok Boomer" may raise your score,. Writing "you are an asshole" to someone you don't know is kinda lame. It also speaks more about your own character than anything derogatory that I could write, so that's that. I hope you find a better way and have a better day. C-ya.

Get the smaller one from Jerry's Artarama unless you need the large size. I have both now, and the smaller version is not only more affordable, but doesn't need to be modified with a rubber washer to make it stick at a setting and not come lose.

I recently got the Pixiss version of the proportional divider (an identical piece of plastic also trades under several different names - YARKOR, Accurasee, and Trobing to name a few) and after seeing this video, I really wish I went with the one shown here instead. The Pixiss version is thinner and lighter, which is good, but they took it too far so it's a bit floppy and has problems with warping. Also the locking wedge design of the Pixiss version is garbage and while the Derwent's locking nut may not be perfect it's certainly going to be much better.

You’re using these ALL KINDS of WRONG LOL 😂 🤦‍♂️ if you using Proportional devisers, the ideas that should never come to mind are “somewhere in there” or “ something like that”. Your measurements should be taken both vertically AND and parallel to your proportional edges or “aspect ratio” as your calling it here. Good quality production otherwise. I see what you where going for here and if you just get the lessons down more accurately you could actually provide a quality service to the YT art scene. 🤠 see Jason Morgan’s Wildlife Art channel for a GREAT explanation on how to properly use these with a high degree of accuracy. After all that is the very reason an artist would want to utilize such a tool.

Thanks for your honest feedback and head check. =) I'm not an artist --- just trying to be better than yesterday. My caveat was, as someone learning how to draw, that my attempt at using proportional dividers was not to be precise. I do understand what you say. I'll try to do better when I retry this at some point in the future. As someone with no formal training in art - I'll try. =) I do, however, like Mark Carder's use of the tool as well. Thanks again.
