I usually just use a small caribener on my mic holder and connect the metal clip to it, but at my last fire I noticed my mask was keying me up every time I looked down. I think I'll look into this

Unfortunately, Motorola stays don’t put the mic upside down or water cannot drain.

You can let it swing down and light ahead when crawling. Mounted right side up, you just illuminate the floor below your head. Like having headlights on your car point out front, or under your car...whichever you prefer.

You have your mic on upside down. As per the operating instructions from Motorola the orange button must be up. The way you have it each time you use the mic in that position you cover both microphone ports.

john doe I’ve worn my mic (for law enforcement) upside down for the last 13 years. My entire career. I’ve not had a single instance of covering the mic ports.

The Mic Loop they are not the same, specific techniques should be employed with these radios in a firefighting environment. Rule number 1 at 28 seconds. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nH-W0dhvicLYeKg.html

The Mic Loop you also shouldn’t centre mount these RSM’s and YES you should put it up against the voice port on the SCBA mask when transmitting. Just about everything he recommends is contrary to the manufactures advice following extensive field tests.

john doe I’m not a firefighter, so I can’t comment about how a firefighter shoulder properly wear their equipment. However, this guy is a firefighter who gave his own account about using The Mic Loop with his gear.

The Mic Loop well as you can see from the official Motorola guidance for his specific radio and microphone everything he is doing goes against what they recommend.

Ain't got time for that! What are you gonna do when your rig is about to leave you bc your on porcelain, then the fire is a block away. You gotta get all your gear on in the rig, hood, gloves etc. Messing with that strap and then pulling your mic out, clipping it in. Not gonna fly. Ditch the leather strap. Put the loop somewhere uptop where you like it. Run your cord under flap, through a buckle if need be. And leave the radio in your pocket... All you have to do then is put your coat on.. it's always there in the same place. How many times has anyone successfully changed channels, volume etc with the radio end way down behind them and stuck bc your coat his holding the case down. These leather straps are nonsense if your in a fire
