Using Self-Leveling Concrete to Fix a Bathroom Floor
I couldn't salvage the bathroom tile floor because it was crumbling, loose, and very squeaky! So I am going to fix the floor with self leveling concrete to even out all the gouges and create a stable surface for my new LVT floor. I really love that you went to blog style videos. You make me chuckle
Luv the tile. Thanks for sharing the steps you took.
Floor looks great! I did the same thing a few years ago. You did a way better job than I did with the self leveling floor. Wish I watched your video beforehand.
Outstanding video, many thanks!! I most appreciated your detailed description of sealing the edges of the floor and around closet flange with foam and caulk and THEN showing how to remove the foam and caulk (although that only was for 3 seconds and around the closet flange only). After hours of scouring YT I have not seen how to remove the edge sealers, whatever they are., which lack of knowledge has caused a lot of stress. You are very skilled and I will be using your method tomorrow on my half bathroom floor to apply self leveler.
Oh I know the feeling. I did this to my bathroom floor (a slab that sunk so it really sloped) and I was amazed too. The spray foam was a great idea. The screwing the floor down was a great tip too, I worked on another house and all the 50+ year old nails were loose. I spend hours and hours screwing down 3 rooms while the carpet was out.
My first comment here, just subbed recently and wow!...your videos are way better than a lot of DIY's out there! Your calmnesss and clear no bs demeanor coupled with your soothing voice while narrating or talking is very refreshing and enjoyable, plus I'm not afraid to admit I'm learning a thing or two from your videos and as guy I can't think of a compliment better than that 😎

It looks awesome, great job
Informative video. Good detail. Love the camera angle that aims toward the floor in question, which also makes your smile look even prettier. You have good lighting that makes you even more photogenic. Well done.
Awesome and concise instructions! Thank you!😊
You did a really good job. The floor looks great. It was feel really good everytime you want in there and see your work!
Thumb's up for singing Sandy.

Lol I definitely debated cutting that out
Melissa you’re the best. You need your own show.
I've done self leveling concrete a few times. I enjoy the process
A lot of work, so many steps prior to laying the floor. I've seen work in bathrooms over the years, that have skipped a couple of these steps and now wondering if one of my bathrooms will be a problem later down the road. Very good information. TY
It looks awesome 👍🏾 you did real good I remember laying laminate flooring around the bathroom and it’s very challenging when it comes to the toilet but I took your advice on one of your former videos when you used a bowl to help you measure the diameter 👍🏾
You're such a rockstar. Love watching your videos!
So dang impressed by you. Amazing work!
thank you for this vid. I learned so much.
Awesome work 👍
You are awesome Melissa
20 minutes to cut that vinyl tile.....excellent! I thought that was impressive. You did a great job with every stage of doing that floor; and you do a great job with everything that you try. Good job~good experience for you.
I like the gray a lot. That will still look good decades from now.
We use a “porcupine “ on our self level it’s a spiked roller, breaks the surface tension, gives a great result.
Well, Melissa, I was always impressed by your talent and beauty, but now I witnessed your beautiful singing voice!. You never cease to amaze me. Keep it up sweetheart, You're doing great things.
Amazing, again.
I wish I had to courage to do the floors of my bathroom but I can't, I know it will end up pretty bad. you are doing awesome!!!!
Thanks!
Looks great....
ty!! i am feeling same about self leveling mine & am quite nervous. 😅
Nicely done, I'm floored :)
Great video. I love the singing😂 You have many talents🥰
Cutting that tile was impressive!! I would've had to redo several times I'm sure. Great job!!

They make dust shrouds for those grinders so you can attach a vacuum. I just had to get one. Worth every penny!

Thankfully 😅 Don’t have to worry about it. Have hot water heat. And we just had a 96% efficiency combination system put in about a year ago. It not only heats the house, but supplies a just about unlimited amount of hot water. 🚿 👍 It definitely wasn’t cheap! 😅 💸🇺🇸
I’m going to show my age too and say, “awesome sauce” to your craftsmanship. lol Nice work!
LOL now I know what my face looks like after a job well done and I have impressed myself!! Great video work and awesome job!

Fantastic video! This motivated me to try self-leveling concrete for the first time (even had the same exact old bathroom tiles you did). Just a heads-up: Your link for the bluetooth headphones hearing protection is missing :). Thanks!
Good Job Happy Mother’s Day
Impressive.
Looks great. :)
Great job again 😎👍🐕🦺
Good job, like your singing voice!
Outstanding work may our Lord God continue to bless you and your family.
I always enjoy your surprise when you succeed at a new task. That smile with eyes wide open says it all.
Once again.....incredible work!....and with no make-up....can you believe that....Love it!
Awesome🥰🥰🥰
磨刀不误砍柴工!你前期准备做得非常好!
you are not just hot. You are very talented as well
Hey, Melissa, great video. One constructive comment here for your consideration. Please do consider wearing gloves of some sort to protect yourself from possible mold formations as well as virus or heavy bacterial contamination. If that stuff is going to found in a home, it will be in the bathrooms. A mask perhaps to offset airborne contaminated particulates. Again, great video!
Good stuff Melissa! Could you show how you measured for the correct size for the new window to fill the width of the rough before ordering the new one?
@WelcometotheWoodsBlog

You simply measure the space and order a window that’s an inch less all around
wish we had access to these cool products where we live
You’re great! Us women can do anything if we just do it!!!! I won’t let my husband tough anything anymore- he breaks everything or just has a blank mind………..🥴

hello welcome to the woods it's randy and i like video is cool thanks friends randy
Curious to know why you went with vinyl instead of tile. Lovely job none the less.

It’s just easier to install and maintain. Easier to replace in the future if I want something different or it gets damaged.
2 questions! I may have missed it, but did you say that if the subfloor was flat/level enough that you wouldn't need a self-leveling mud? How much did the leveler build up the floor, and after "tile" will you need a big transition into the hallway? Do the LVT vinyl tiles not need an adhesive? Do you grout them like tile?
Love the transformation! Did you pour the concrete on top of a wooden subfloor? Is it a first or upper floor BA? How did you attach the tiles?
@WelcometotheWoodsBlog
Жыл бұрын
Yes, it was a plywood subfloor on the upper floor of the house. The tiles are floating, they click together with a waterproof puzzle joinery.

Where do you buy the floor?
so you don't need cement board between the leveler and the tile?
You should sing more❤
Is it possible to do this without removing the sink and toilet
When scribing the side my the toilet on the vinyl flooring. Couldn't you have laid the piece for the toilet side upside down on the opposite side? Then scribed the back of it, cut it, and flipped it and placed it on the correct side and mark for the hole cutouts at that point? I'm just curious. Thanks for another cool video. Take care

I tried that but it wasn’t as precise as my washer because I was trying to get the tiles lined up with seams exactly in the center. So it was hard to hold the tile in the air at the length I needed if that makes sense

@@WelcometotheWoodsBlog I gotcha. That makes since. I just wondered. Anymore great work! Place looks great!
whos the dang carpenter! lmao
Was grinding the floor flat really necessary if you're gonna be using self leveler anyway?
👍
Why is this woman not on HGTV with her own show? Model good looks. Natural in front of camera. Personality and knows her stuff. Anyone out there connected to the producers?

Hi, you did an excellent job of the concrete and the tiles, ten out of ten, but please do not take up singing for your supper as I am afraid you may starve.

@@WelcometotheWoodsBlog I know!! Just a suggestion for those who are reading the comments and a lil' bit nervous Did you apply the tiles directly to the leveler or did you put cement board down first?

That sprayfoam stuff is toxic. KZreadrs need to learn a bit about the materials they recommend.
