Using Real Amethyst in Miniature Art

My friend, Jeremiah from @LightsCameraAnts gave me a suggestion to make a cave diorama using real geodes or crystals. I thought that was a great idea so I went a rock store, bought some amethysts, and that's what I built this week.
Go check out @LightsCameraAnts and follow along as he builds an ant habitat using real amethysts as well!

I really like how there isn’t a featured monster in this build- the oversized crystals, the generally isolated/claustrophobic vibe of the miners in such a contained, unexplored space, and the suggested depth of the cave (as well as what might live within it 👀) make it sort of contextually eerie as opposed to highlighting a specific threat. Fantastic work as always!! Can’t wait to see what you do next!!

To me, at least, the entire cave almost seems like the monster that’s swallowing the miners

The little lantern is absolutely adorable, and contributes so much to the immersion in this scene. What a fun build!

Agreed! I am amazed at how bright that teeny-tiny led was. Even with studio lighting you could see its glow on the miners and the surrounding amethyst. Until the final shots I was thinkimg he needed to backlight the crystals or some way to get more light/glow into the diorama.
Using the amethyst crystals was so creative, and when the crystals reflect the light from the lantern, it looked so good. It's similar to the amethyst geodes in Minecraft.
🔥🔥🔥 The dry brushing on the rocks looks amazing and I love the lantern light reflection on the crystals! Also “plaster recessing gum line”. 😂😂😂 Love it!
This turned out amazing! Plus, I'm pretty sure just having it on display it has the added effect of rebalancing your energies.

The light of the flashlight makes my heart flutter🤤😄
Man! That was awesome! The lantern was definitely a nice touch! The “teeth” on the top and bottom look really cool as well, almost as if the cave has a mouth.
Yes yes yes always a nice Sunday treat
Just amazing how the whole scale changes once you put the humans in! And the lighting is just sooo nice.

Just one more lantern would light up the rest of the cave beautifully.

Yeah, that's something that could not be achieved when I was a kid during the 70s. At that time, the tiniest lighting solutions were incandescent "grain of wheat" and "grain of rice" bulbs that would have been almost half the size of the figurines used here.
Absolutely stunning! This thumbnail really caught my eye, the real amethysts really add a kinda magical sense too it as well as make it pop. Makes me feel like I’m inside that cave myself, gazing in awe at the huge crystals around me. The warm light supplied by the lantern really compliments the amethysts too. Great job, can’t wait to see the rest of the Wild Imaginary West series, it’s been awesome so far, keeps getting better and better!
I'd love to see more of like underground theme of the wild west

It is one of the most wonderful creations I have ever seen
I really enjoy how you managed to make the cave itself seem monstrous without needing a monster
I'm just... wow. Seriously blown away by how good this turned out. With all the bits and pieces I wasn't sure you'd get them to look so seamless. And that little lantern makes the crystals glow so nicely.
just woke up and was happy you uploaded. starting my day with a good vibe :)
This is completely amazing. It turned out beautiful. The illuminated lantern is the cherry on top.
It’s fun watching you experiment with new materials. I wouldn’t have thought of ever using amethyst in a build!
I would love to see a GIANT mineshaft diorama that connects your previous mining builds and makes it feel like a connected vein.

Always love a new Boylei video
Looks so good, was waiting for some red eyes to appear in the darkness.......
This is such a fantastic build! I was just thinking about making a crystalline diorama yesterday, but it never occurred to me to use real crystals. The little lamp light refracting around the cave looks stunning.
The way that he described some of the rocks as the gums around the teeth makes me imagine that the "cave" is actually the mouth of an amethyst giant. Be a really interesting creature to incounter in the wild imaginary west.

It would be cool to imagine them mining the mouth of a dead giant
I just was scrolling and just saw a masterpiece
I love how the light hits the crystals around it, it's very pleasing
I always love the LED lights you add to your builds. They add another layer of depth that isn’t seen many times elsewhere
I wasn't sure about how it would look at the beginning, but it turned out great.
Cool diorama. The geode is a surprise base but now I'm like, "duh"...how perfect. The lantern is perfection
I absolutely love how this turned out! It's just beautiful. The glow from Beau Jo's little lantern is a perfect addition. Bravo sir. Bravo.
It’s one thing to have the skills to build these dioramas, it’s a whole other thing to have the vision to see the story and scene. Well done.
That lantern really makes this whole diarama. Looks fantastic as always.
I don't know what is more impressive, the images you envision or your ability to craft them from the ground up. These miniature pieces of art you create are amazing and the video of the creation process is fascinating.
It's always a really cathartic moment seeing the final product and how the lights work so well! Awesome piece, as always.
The added LED really adds some sparkle and depth to the cave!
Awesome blend of colors between paint and crystals 😃
Awesome build, the light from the LED lights the crystals up lovely!
This is absolutely gorgeous! I would love to see more natural rocks or metals used in your builds from time to time!
Thats awesome! Just the feeling you get from being in a cave like that, really feeds the imagination 🙂
This looks real good, with the real crystals you get a shine to it that can't be painted on. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I love watching your projects come together! Another amazing build thanks for sharing!
Very clever build. Gems great. Lighting great.
Oh, VERY good! This is beautiful... and no monsters! Those miners are soooo lucky!
You're work is really awesome . The ideas about the alternative West would make an amazing movie ! Amazing imagination and skill .
Man, this is a beautiful set! A pair of dim red lights in the darkest corner of that hollow would have added to the touch of fear of that black place.
The little light makes this. Great idea all around
That little light really made a difference with the build ... awesome job.
This is by far my favorite in the wild west series.
Such a fantastically looking place! It looks like somewhere you’d want to visit!
Wow one of the best models I have ever seen
I am blown away by how awesome this is. Nothing else inspires me the way your builds do. Thank you!
what an amazing little diorama, i want to see more people using crystals in their own personal way like what you have done
Stunning. When you dipped the piece forward and we could see the light illuminating the cavern it made me really wish you had done a few shots with the overhead light off
This is so simply but has such a dramatic impact, great job!
Very whimsical, and as always, very nicely done! I look forward to your project tutorials all week, and I'm never disappointed! Thanks for posting this!
Love this one! Incredible colors
Very cool. Great craftsmanship
The concept of this is simple but still blows my mind on how much effort you put into every project, absolutely addicted to your channel, keep it up!
That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I love the little light inside
Excellent atmospheric cave. Thank you for sharing. Learnt a new word too..."finagaling" which I intend to use at my first opportunity.
Amazingly beautiful!!! You are so creative and skillful
Really cool. The mini light reflects wonderfully !
This looks epic, I feel like it would've been cool to add a boardwalk to the diorama but thats just me

Yeah, I was thinking he should have added a ladder or bucket/pulley elevator system so that the miners could get down and pull up their finds. Nothing too extensive or it would just be another mine, but maybe something to show this is a new find that they are working. Course that could have ruined the simplisity of the diorama and taken away from the coolness of the giant amethyst cave. In the end "less is more" and I think he made the right choices...as always.
Stunning diorama with the light effect on the crystals. Very beautiful!
I’ve always loved the look of amethyst. Great job on this diorama, it all looks so cohesive
Awesome display of natural geode to boot 👍👍
You make this stuff look so easy, but it's so effective! Good job!
This is one of the Coolest dioramas I've ever seen! Love the use of real crystals! 🔮
It looks so good with the little lantern!!
What a fabulous destiny for an amethyst! Inspired and gorgeous!!😍😍👍
Pretty amazing my friend. Thanks for sharing it with us.
This turned out awesome! The addition of the little lamp is perfect, and the "teeth" in the front look great.
I love this. I think this is so far my favorite build from the Wild Imaginary West.
Fantastic. This is the kind of thing that always stood out in model train boards. A mining scene within a mountain, adding a little wonder to a spot of the diorama that was usually blank and empty. Good stuff.
Give us a tour of the Wild West so far !!
So glad that you showed it to us in the dark. It brings out that slight 'horror' of being in a place too dark.
Just beautiful
I love the museum of nature and science so much, thanks for the reminder of home ❤️
The crystals look so pretty. And of course the whole build is amazing.
So good, and the lantern is genius!
This came out SO good!! Completely blown away! 🤯🤯
Wow! This gives me Dark Crystal vibes! I love it!
That coach lantern joke made me giggle more than it should have. Love the cave. I'd forget all about my fear of the unknown if I had a chance to go spelunking there!
Another amazing build. The Imaginary Wild West is my favorite!
The way the light illuminates off the geodes in low light at the end there was astounding. Amazing build man!
♥ the little lyrics quote added in. Nice touch and strait to the feels.
I really love this piece! The colors of the crystals are very striking, and I love the creativty of arranging them into a little cave!
Love this build! Reminds me of those terrarium builds people do with little figures and animals in them. The edges with the plaster, paint, and teeth came out so well!
Gorgeous work as always. Fantastic use of creative materials.
Oh, it's beautiful.
Genuinely think this is the best one yet! The light from the miners lantern really makes this look awesome!
You blended the real crystals into the surrounding rocks so well. It all feels so nicely cohesive. And the LEDs always bring the pieces to life, especially in this case with the light bouncing off the crystals.
You made this look so simple but so amazing! If you got bored you could go back and add two tiny red leds in the back of the void, to hint that they aren't alone in their beautiful cave!

Definitely. Though tbh, I kind of liked that there was no monster. No danger--just wonder. A, "slice of life."
Wow that’s amazing. Turned out great
Absolutely amazing work!!!
You should do a tour of all your builds that you have done that would be awesome
I this is one of my favorite wild west builds. Thanks again for sharing your immense talent with us!
Recently visited the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, really cool place, also I see why you use the local landscape as inspiration for your builds. It’s beautiful.
🥰 your creations give wings to my imaginaton!!
The spooky hole in the back is perfect, it lends so much depth and makes your mind fill in what it thinks could be there. Beautiful and somehow spooky!
Wow. The scale change. The lighting. The whole concept. Just a 10/10.
