Thank you for the informative video! I am thinking of maybe trying this as I have a very precarious side of my house that has a neighbors fence blocking it about 4 feet out. Can you elaborate about how you attach the bottom of the 2x4 poles and also on the top? Gonna subscribe to support your channel!

I use aluma poles. I seen the wood ones snap in half

Great video, question, my project is similar but 20 + ft high, did you just stagger several 10ft 2x4s, nailed them together (4x4) to give you the overall length needed? Anyone could answer too. Thanks

Yes you stagger the boards to what ever height you need. Definitely screw them together instead of nail. Makes for easy disassemble.

Do you have any issues lowering the jacks and them getting hung up / shaving the lumber? I bought a set of Qualcrafts and they worked great the first up and down but started to chew up the jack poles on the way down, after a half dozen trips up and down I have to physically get off the staging and lower them with a ladder. Any tips? I considered rounding the edge of the piece of square stock that grips the pole but don't want to ruin them.

Yes I have similar experiences. Ideally I don't have to go up and down too many times before I take the entire system down and move on to the next job.

I’ve never used the plywood at the top for a brace vs the metal angles that come with it, do you just cut a 3-5/8 x 3-5/8 square notch? How much do you leave on the outside edge of plywood to keep strength from the cut-out? Theoretically this would allow the pump jacks to be what ever distance away from wall that is needed?

Cool setup. What size and type of planks are you using? I like the plywood roof trick. How far are you overlapping the 2x4's?

@@maynard4026 what is max height for those pump jacks. Would they work for 40'-50'. What is max height?

@@lordbaiter6997 in theory you could take them infinitely high. I have had them as high as 35 ft. The issue is that you have to brace the vertical supports as you go up. I cross brace them with two by fours. That makes it pretty stable however you have to take the braces off as you come down. So if you're leaving them up for more than a day you will have to have a ladder to get on to the scaffolding.it's also worth mentioning that the manufacturers of these pump jacks make railing that goes up with them. I typically simply screw 2x4s to my vertical boards to keep a type of railing in the area where I'm working.

Wait all this time I thought you needed to have the foot pedal depressed as you're lowering yourself down.... That's why I'm a plumber
