Using Mixed Media Supplies to Color Fabric

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Getting color on fabric doesn't have to be hard. I do love my fabric paints and my natural dyes but sometimes I just want to grab a bunch of my mixed media supplies and get some color down.
In this video I will sample some of the popular mixed media supplies on fabric and test them against water. Make sure you stick around for the end so you can see the colorful fabrics I created using my favorite mixed media supply for fabric!
Below are Amazon links to the 2 sets of Bombay inks that I love. Please know that I am an Amazon affiliate and if you purchase through my links I will receive some compensation and I thank you for that.

Thank you, thank you for testing and reporting on your colorful finds! You are a gem my dear! I only wish we lived just down the street from each other! Tee hee. Let's try this again Susan...hope you get to read this one. I just tried some of my own fabric dyeing techniques, very similar to yours, They are currently outside drying in the sun, all wadded up into balls of yummyness! It's super hot here today, and humid as well. We shall see how long these take to dry out. Loved this project, gurl friend! Thank you for all the really neet-o ideas on your channel! ;)

Thanks for this information. I was about to test things myself. I did a very detailed floral design as well as a detailed under water with turtles just to get some bleeding😢. I painted with the Derwin Ink Tense pencils that claim to be permanent. So disappointed. So onto Bombay.

All of these pieces look soooo delicious! I have many of these paints, and can’t wait to play. However, If I’m going to frame a piece of art work, do I need to be concerned about fading? If so, what would be a more permanent option? Thank you. Love this channel.

Great experimental results! What color of India [Bombay) ink did you use to get the rust shade in your final results? It looks like one could use it in lieu of boiling with rusty bits if you added some objects and bound it to dry. Maybe you could experiment and add to another video.

Thank you so much Susan, these fabrics are gorgeous. I’ve just experimented doing this exact same thing with food colouring before I came across your video. Am desperately trying to find a way of colouring fabric using the same technique but need it to be colourfast. I would like to make some slow stitch pot plant wraps. Do you have any recommendations on what I could use? 😊
