Using Goats to Get Rid of Weeds! | Maryland Farm & Harvest

Ғылым және технология

The old rumor that goats will eat "anything" isn't really true, but they do eat a lot of different plants. That's why farmers Brian Knox Jennifer Vaccaro run Eco-Goats, where they rent out a herd of goats to clear unwanted weeds and vegetation. We follow them to a residential property in Kent County, where these four-legged landscapers clear out an overgrown space, all without heavy equipment or herbicides. We also stop by Where Pigs Fly Farm in Centreville, where Brian and Jennifer raise a variety of livestock for eggs and meat.

I had had goats in my tiny forest before. They are so clever and know how to communicate with us. Can never love any animal like goat. Thank you for sharing. A big heart filled with gratitude from Thailand.

Just keep them separated from all vehicles. My father rented a section of land to a man who stored vehicles there for his car dealership. The neighbors had about 20 or 30 goats that found a weak point in the fence line. We were driving by and saw every single one of them hanging out on the hoods, trunks, and roofs of the vehicles. I felt bad, but it was a trip to see in person.

My wife and I volunteer at a church camp in Souther Illinois. We have a goat pen on the back of the dam for our 5-1/2 acre lake because it's too steep to mow with traditional equipment. We have three full size goats (We had four until one died last summer). They do a great job of keeping the weeds in check, and have basically become my pets, or as I call them, my goatie friends. I keep treats in my side by side and let our guests feed them when they seem to be interested, which everyone seems to enjoy. The funniest part is when a kid says 'hey look, wildlife'.

They are lovely and great to get rid off weeds and blackberry plants that people have planted and then those blackberry plants do invade the land and don't produce fruits as they need a lot of water . They were brought by German immigrants here in the south of Chile and now that land is unproductive.

All creatures do prostrate to God. Al Quran Chapter 22 Verse 18 So let us give them the chance for them to live so that they may keep prostrating to Allah. Because Allah loves people who possesses compassion to understand these creatures with respect. There is no necessity to eat them, follow Nabi's SAW example, live with the abundance that Allah is giving that is wheat, dates and water. Hadith ref Sahih Muslim If there was no animals, Allah SWT would not send rain on earth. Hadith Sunan Ibn Majah Volume 4019 Even the Prophet desired to be a plant that we can pick up. Sahih Tirmizi Without those animals, the earth would not be able to replenish it's breath.
