I’ve no doubt that there are clues to be gleaned from body language, it’s put in focus on police interrogations and people can obviously discern things in social encounters...but what I do doubt is that systemized archetypes are a real value and not just a way to label for convenience.

You don’t know anything about either subject. Most people that have demeaning comments about the subjects tend to know nothing about them or the theory behind why they may work. Astrology is something I’ve studied for 24 years and my father 30 years. You are looking at bio electrical fields interacting with the greater magnetosphere within the solar sphere. EM fields within fiends are imported by the greater fields and charged bodies (planets) moving through those fields shift configurations.

Grad student in therapy and geopolitics nerd here, this was an interesting talk. I think there is much practical merit to the analysis and promotion of archetypes-especially with how much our generation identifies with artistic media and characters-as well as the “crisis of ineptitude” and misery you discuss due to the mismatch of people and the things that would bring them meaning. I wonder how one could reconcile the Jungian archetypes, which have some universality but are still based in Western tradition, and the East and South Asian schools of thought you mention (with reference to Amaury de Riencourt). Archetypes can be limiting and personality/meaning-derivation is so fluid throughout life that striving to wholly embody your archetype (realize the Übermensch, etc.) would leave many people in a sort of existential limbo.

Hi Jung considered the archetypes to be our biological instincts for certain behaviour and capability’s. Our instincts in humans are weak but still there. He identified four major archetype’s and you activate them sequentially as you grow. You have four childish forms and most children access them fully. The multitude the expert described are speaalisms in the basic four. Now adults fail to activate all four adult forms and any specialisations. Here is an example your instinct is to be good at phisical activity eg walk run jump throw a spear shoot an arrow play group games and wrestling. Archetype is called the warrior in adults. Study’s show adults bad at physical activity suffer bad health and bad mental health. Make them do physical activity and you can reverse lots af illness and reverse some mental illnesses. Infact people report feeling emotional good and happier. There bodies activate genes and make new parts in the cells. It is possible you have stronger emotions and instincts between the four. Jung said you need to activate all four adult archetypes to be successful in life and not have serious problems. I get the impression that you can specialise later and get respect for that. I don’t know egniugh about eastern ideas and traditions to comment. Do you consider Jung and archetypes in therapy? Are you using the classical schools? Freud rogers Franca’s of thought in your work life? Or the modern behaviourist or positive psychology of Selgram?

Imagine a main battle tank with the archetypes of the warrior trying to be the best winner survivor and take home the prize. Having an instinct for land leadership and power. Be carful what you wish for. Lots of kings were warriors first and paid priest and schoolers to think deaply. But most warriors were happy. So a happy Tank ruling a town could be interesting 😊.

Looking too much into Jung’s archetypes have the same hazards as astrology. It often influences people to reductionism, oversimplification of personalities and stereotyping of the self and others. It has its benefits but I think the problems outweigh them.

Yea it’s strange that you only scored 110 in IQ. I’m a connoisseur of the mind, find peoples thinking processes interesting and in their variability. I scored very high in IQ but don’t feel that’s the greatest strength I have intellectually but rather openness, inventiveness and the ability to think of the abstract in a very concrete sensory way, shifting and changing as well as combining ideas across a very broad canvass of ideas. You are one of the most intelligent KZreadrs by far, the way you tackle issues and think about them is admirable and honestly I just don’t generally respect peoples mental processing capabilities much, as they are generally pretty mundane. Intelligence and what it means should be redefined.

IQ does not indicate intelligence nor does intelligence need to be redefined. The relation between IQ and intelligence is questionable and ongoing. If you are really “a connoisseur of the mind” put forth the time and effort to do research before making false correlations then praising an ignorant pseudo-intellectual.

No they clearly don't, they are just people who don't have the skill level to study psychology, anthropology or sociology etc. So they just make up their cosmology based on books from a century ago
