Infrared (IR) control kits include a remote keypad, IR Diode Receiver and Breakout board, together with a set of leads. You can use them to control home automation devices or any project that you make - perhaps something that's too small and fiddly to have buttons, or just more convenient to control remotely.
When used with Arduino or any other microcontroller (eg Raspberry Pi) you can easily set up your project to control lights, turning them on or off, dimming them or changing colour, audio equipment, custom made projects and just about anything that you can think of.
