Good evening, I have this generator now for a couple of days, the FY6900 from Feelelec; the 60 Mhz version and I was looking tonight for a solution to transmit a tone to test a radio here on the bench, so now i know how to do this, thank you very much and i wil follow your channel for more info about function generators

I got a radio that came to me without the dial pointer for the SW band. I used this idea to mark the dial string for the new pointer. I didn't use an antenna. I used BNC to alligator clipes cable un-terminated and got very strong signal.

I have often considered trying to make a CW contact using a sig gen as a TX.

Excellent video thank you! I learned how to use my generator - i did not know it could do this.

So one big question then, can you amplify the output signal to a small transistor that is connected to another transistor that is connected to a antenna and audio input to make a AM transmitter ?

I’m pretty sure MOD means “modulation”

The "Wave" function also has an FM setting, but i do not know how to control the modulation frequency on that setting. Any ideas?

Is it possible to modulate ch1 using ch2 if my signal generator doesn't have a built in modulation function. what would be a good way to mix the two outputs without shorting them and maybe damaging the generator.

I don't know anything about signal generators, so can you tell me if I want to generate a Wifi or GPS signal using a vector signal generator, will the generator put out or broadcast the signal internally or would I need an antenna?

It will transmit the signal, just extremely weak. Probably so weak you won't notice because of all the other electrical noise that's being transmitted from various devices. An antenna will definitely make the transmitted signal stronger as seen in this video.

Super cool, thank you very much, i was having trouble understanding signal generator, transmiter, reciever stuff. Hope i can found more info on your channel for absolute beginners (me hehe). I like collecting vintage stuff and i bought two RCA tube transceivers, a philips tube signal generator and a genescope (sweepcope), the thing is i dont know how to use them properly

With a HF attenuator you can connect it directly to your Receiver. But calculate your voltage before, otherwise the Receiver can bei damaged! 73

I'm using the TRAM 1185 antenna with a BNC connector and magnet mount. That one is also available with a PL-259. It's a nice simple dual band antenna. On my primary car (SUV) I have a 3/8"-24 mount for ham sticks. With that mount I use the TRAM 1184 which is the whip only. With 17" it's short enough that I can leave the antenna on while driving into the garage.

I'm using a Function Generator as a QRP HF CW transmitter at the moment & doing well on 40 metres over 800 km away at approx only 25mW (5Vpp) into a 50 OHm load (40 M GP Antenna). I am switching the TX line to key the Morse lol. I have experimented also with modulating the sine wave from a Function Generator for both AM and FM by adding an Audio Amp, & Magnets for fine tuning the mixing inductors. (That was a long time ago now though). The videos of the FM and AM modulating should be on my channel still. It was just a crazy experiment haha. 73 and Keep up the great work mate. de VK3VKe ⚡🙏⚡
