Using a Hoyer Lift

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is how we use the Hoyer lift with the Padded U shaped sling. Reusable Pad shown is made by Invacare 34"x52" rather than what is stated in the video.

I Know that this video is older or however it has really helped me to see how to get my son in and out of bed with the Hoyer lift because most of the videos that you see now are of people that are actually just playing a part they don’t really have anything wrong with them. Thank you so much for this video even though it was made in 2013

Thank you for this! So much better than the official Hoyer video. It's so much better watching a real person in the sling and in a home environment (which also my situation) And thank you Margaret for allowing yourself to be videoed!

Thanks for posting this video with a real person- as a nursing student, we don't get to practice or even see techniques on actual patients- they are usually other nursing students who may assist or mannequins who don't express any feelings about technique, obviously.

Do you know if we can use it to move the patient to the commode chair?

Yes, you can. It may be difficult depending on the kind of chair.

*Though it looks a little complicated🦽 **allabout.wiki/Invacare** it is really pretty simple to use. (And easy to assemble)Position the sling carefully under person being lifted,Secure chains with S hooks pointing (of course) away from person being lifted. Short chain length on backlonger on front. Maneuver Lift over person to be lifted (can go low enough to lift from floor)EXPAND/OPEN and LOCK the base. Attach rings to either side of hoist.Person being lifted should "hug themselves" to keep hands and arms inside sling, then use the lever (kind of like jacking up a car) to raise. You can then carefully use release switch to lower personslowly to chair, or commode etc. Wish we had purchased this a long time ago.(yes you do have to purchase sling & chains separately) Still worth every penny and them some*

As someone who also uses a lift every day I AM NOT miserable because of using this method. Nowhere in the video or description does it say this is the only way to use a lift. It is how I feel most comfortable and safe after 20 years of use. It is one way to use the lift not the only way to use it. I would love to see more videos of people who actually need a lift post videos on how they do it because there are simply not enough that portray individuals who are real-life users.
