Using a Chris Gregory Hoof Knife

Ойын-сауық

Cody and I demonstrate our methods of using the Chris Gregory Hoof Knife by Mora Frost. We both have slightly different methods to achieve a good clean sole. This is just a guide for those that are trying to take their shoeing to the next level.

Love watching this father and son relationship every time they are on screen. You can tell how deep their fondness for each other runs.

Would you be willing to do a video on sharpening? I'm a dental hygienist. I sharpen instruments daily. For some reason, I'm having a tough time with the hoof knives. They might just be poor quality. But a video on sharpening would be great. You guys make it look like that sole comes off like butter!

nice knife and good demonstration on how to use it, but leave those long bars? why? they put way to much pressure and the deep crevaces trapping muck , the heels too should be even with the base of the frog for even pressure. they are so long here.

So is it relieving to a horse to have this grooming done? I don't know jack about horses. I'm five foot five inches fully grown, so I'm a bit intimidated by horses. My gramps always had a field of breeding horses, different breeds for different things. He hated us kids though, and wouldn't bother explaining anything to us. I'm a blacksmith that also flips burgers. I guess that's why he hates me. He's jealous of my prowess! 😂 Seriously though, do the horses look forward to this type of hoof trimming? I bet they love it! I love the feeling of freshly clipped and washed hands. My fingernails grow really fast, and I'm always splitting them on carbon stock. Anyone want to buy a handmade and beautiful knife for $75? 1095 carbon steel drop point hunter, folded to 3200+ layers, and lightly etched to show the layers. This is not a cheap pattern welded crap blade. This is a 19 hour craft that will last for 300 years without oil.

MooCowMoo Cow when horses have their feet trimmed like they do, it's like us trimming our nails. It makes them feel better, I think.

Your hands are in the way and you’re filming in shadow so it’s hard to see anything and hard to hear you between the wind on the mic and the guy pounding in the background. Frustrating video to try and watch and listen to.
