This made me cry so hard because my son will never know my dad. He died back in 2018 of an overdose alone in his camper. He had seen my son here and there through the years but there were so many gaps in between that my son doesn't remember him. I have no pictures of them together. I don't have anything of them both together and it kills me because my son reminds me so much of my dad it's not even a joke. The way he is so in tune with nature and what plants provide what nutrients to the body and arrow heads and world history. You name it that kid knows it. And he is only 17. 17 years old and at the age of 4 told me he wanted to be a paleontologist. I had no clue what that was but he knew it. It's s person that studies dinosaur fossils and explains their life and stuff like that. I hate that his father never got the same opportunity mine did when it came to meeting his grandson

It do make you cry cause I was in his shoes with my dad so I know how he feel and felt but Usher stayed strong he’s phenomenal to be able to tell this story

Have we asked why the father was not in his life? I doubt any normal man-not on drugs or alcoholic, would hate their lil offsprings and want to be absent all thru. Could it be he left because of Usher/kids or the mother? What role did the mother play in why the father never wanted to be there? Was he locked up?Not so many men would leave behind a beautiful woman with his kids. It don’t add up. Momma may have had a role in all of this. A huge number of black western moms want to selfishly wear the supermom shield and title and be the only parent to the kids, believing they would be the ones the kids would worship in the future thereby perpetrating parental alienation in many forms. Now, did the mother run him off, did she sleep with the neighbor? Too many questions.. I implore sons to did up all the stories of their absent fathers from both sides to get the stories right
