User Testing vs Usability Testing

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I have already explained what UX Research is in one of my previous videos. Today we will focus on two of its most important methodologies: User Testing and Usability Testing.
Usability testing is a method of testing the functionality of a website, app, or other digital product by observing real users as they attempt to complete tasks through it. The users are usually observed by UX researchers, but most of the time that role would be assigned to the person directly responsible for the design, AKA - you.

    Are you using external services to conduct user testing, or you organize them by yourself? Or maybe you don't test anything? If so - let me know how it looks for you in the comments.

    Great video thank you! I was confused a bit with one thing. When explaining my method to my clients, can I say I used explorative research or would I say qualitative? Are these two basically the same? And is comparative research the same as A/B testing?

  • @KerevDesign

    @KerevDesign

    Well, explorative research can be both qualitative (you are talking to/observing people) or quantitative (you look at numbers related to industry) so I guess you can? Depends what you are actually doing behind that term, and if your customer have a clear understanding of that. As for comparative research I would say again, is a much broader term and behind it you can do a lot of things (like competitor analysis, you are still comparing something to something), so... :)

    I think you need to specify the source of the information that states "90% of all startups fail" and other statements

    I think you are the first one who actually pays attention to the information shared on the Internet. Anyway - that's a great point, in the future videos I will make sure to include those in the video itself, as for this one, I will make sure to update video description with proper sources.

    As a video editor, the "swiping" sounds are annoying because it's too many of them, and because a lot of them are too early or too late based on the on-screen animations

    Thank you, reason for many animations was to raise watchers attention. Most of the viewers due to all short form content get bored relatively fast - so in order to keep their attention creators are forced to make often changes of clips - trust me, I have over 3 years worth of data about it :)

    Would it suprise you if I told you that's one of my best perfoming videos? It very much depends from the the person watching it - and preferences. I also have less visually busy videos on the subject - try the ones regarding ux thinking process.
