@@BillEddie Reverse Mode and Mirror Mode are completely different from each other. Mirror Mode(Extra in Mario Kart 64) inverts the track. While Reverse Mode is just racing backwards. Look at Paris Promenade and Peach Gardens in the final lap for example.

Mirror mode is already in Double Dash, so Reverse Mode CAN'T be Mirror Mode.

You can technically play some tracks from the Booster pack backwards during certain laps, like in Paris Promenade and Peach’s Garden. However, no track has a mode where you do the whole thing backwards

SUPER WANT the next console kart to have a backwards mode. It's just a much more interesting Idea than mirror mode.

True but that would almost double the game's size. You take Mario Kart 9 on the next console, and say it's a "conservative" 25GB (I can't believe we live in a world where 25GB can be considered "small"), they'd have to remake every track backward, and add necessary changes in order to even make it function. It would require two seperate meshes, seperate collision data, and would also need changed out of bounds borders, checkpoints, respawn locations and all kinds of changed asset data which adds up. You can take that 25GB game and make it at LEAST 40GB- it's definitely doable but at the same time, you have to think of it from the dev team's perspective. The reason ideas like this *get* scrapped is because sometimes you just run out of time for shit in development.

@@N_manMETA11 Well Nintendo is pretty well known for giving their devs the time they need to make the game as good as it can be so I could see it happening. They're also very good at compressing their game's filesizes really well so that's a plus too. I'm not counting on this happening, just saying I'd love to see it.

There WAS a reverse-mode in a console mariokart game, although it isn’t playable anymore. Mariokart Wii had events that included a bunch of stuff like racing through tracks backwards (I played the coconut mall backwards event) and a boss battle against some super Mario Galaxy enemies!

I can’t look at or watch Mario Kart Double Dash without being reminded of that one video where someone had two Daisies and they would go back and forth saying: “Hi, I’m Daisy!” 😨

I remember back when my brother and sister were huge into Mario Kart DS, we would play locally with one cartridge, and I was upset I couldn’t play as Luigi, but my brother was stoked since Shy Guy was his favorite character (And still is)

I had Mario Kart DS since 2007, but only tried out Download Play a few months ago. Shy Guy comes in a nice rainbow of colors... It would be fun to fully race on courses in reverse. Nice stuff.

Just to clarify on one thing, the info presented on Mario Kart Wii's mission mode is extremely out of date. The remnants of mission mode were known for quite a long time in the game's files, but nobody ever looked into the missionrun folder until years later, where they used context from the game's other menus to put together what was essentially a test UI, and used data from the old MKWii tournaments to test its actual functionality. And that worked, but as said here, it was extremely bootlegged and just not fleshed out. But today, years after the fact, there are some very good, well-put-together mission distributions with finished UI, and completely custom missions, implemented in a manner that feels extremely vanilla- it'd be awesome if you could highlight that in the future!

There are some mods for MKWii that add reverse tracks. A few tweaks had to be made, such as moving the cannon on DK Mountain to the volcano instead of the bottom, but it’s otherwise dead-on

I really want both missions to return and for a reverse cc type mode. They sound super hype.

So reverse mode would also make the order of courses reversed for example: Mushroom Cup: Rainbow Road R > Bowser's Castle R > Bone-Dry Dunes R > Cloudtop Cruise R.

Technically, Mario Kart 8 (not Deluxe) had the ability to race courses backwards as part of its Battle Mode.

Mario kart Wii’s mission mode wasn’t entirely scraped but rather was only available for a limited time in a online exclusive tournament mode. It even featured its own unique battle stage, the galaxy colosseum

A mission mode in mkWii would have been interesting.

Reverse mode was in MKWii for some of those old WFC weekly challenges, however not for every track and it was only playable on a few limited weeks back in the day.

Here’s a fact: despite this is a racing game, nobody wears a seatbelt.

I hope the Mario Kart Tour skins end up in a console Mario Kart game. They had so many great designs and not putting them in the next game would be a huge mistake.

It made me feel so bad when I found out Shy Guy was the worst racer and I kept losing to my friends back in high school over DS download play.

I will never stop screaming from the roof tops they need to bring co-op racing like in Double Dash. And they need to bring back and create more of the Specialty Items in Double Dash. Like Baby Mario and Luigi’s Chomp Chain. Or Peaches hearts, that stole items. 💞 ✨

Unless you're using ctgp in mkds, in which case press select on the character select screen, it's a pretty neat feature, (It also shows a hint to hit select if shy Guy ever appears as the person on the main title screen)

Reverse tracks would be so fun 😄

Reverse Mode shouldve been added to the Booster Course pass since many BCP tracks are made with it in mind already

I actually knew all of these…thats surprising.

the first one is useful, it's happened to me before so that is why I can not choose my character.

I really hope the reverse cup (or something similar to it) appears in a mainline Mario Kart one day because it sounds a lot more interesting than Mirror Mode, in my opinion.

Fun fact: i play shy guy everytime i play mk because of the ds game, i've got it but when we played with my sister i always let her the cartridge and play maskass (it's is name in french) and oh boy i was good, even beter than with all the caracter And today when i play with my niece she always ask why i don't choose somebody else 😄

Reverse Cup is not the same es Mirror Mode. Because of the cup's name Reverse Cup, it is speculated that Reverse Cup would have the player racing on backwards tracks.This differentiates it from Mirror Mode, as Mirror Mode inverts the tracks horizontally.

As mentioned in the Short, Reverse mode is different from Mirror. Mirror flips the track, Reverse mode you drive through the track backwards. The reason we're assuming Reverse is driving backwards is because it's implemented that way in Tour and Arcade games. Hence why he mentioned it in the short.

Aaronitmar: You are wrong about Mario kart Wii scrap mission mode they where not scrap and I remember playing them legimitly with no hacks, however they where not accessable all the time they where only accessable throught online and only certain period and Nintendo release one of does mission as a competing tournament back when online was still available on the Wii. The raceing tournament that people created where called community back then to not confused them with the tournament mode of mission. The reason why people forgot about this, was because it got permanently discontinued very early way before the Wii shop channel got discontinued, and the Wii shop channel was discontinued way before the online play.

I always wished Mirror to actually be Reverse (if i had to chose between the two) Mirror is quite boring compared to Reverse Other racing game sometimes had Reverse and it was very fun !
