Thanks. I wish I could remember from whom I learned the trick of rolling up the jib to attach and detach the pole. Makes life so easy, especially with the ring to hook to.

Thanks for the advice. I love the job ring for the pole. I'm about to go offshore and I have prepared myself with paper charts and a sextant specifically for the reason you mention. Thank you!

The brand marriage savers isn't around but the concept is. I've used something similar to tow aircraft and perform ops checks. Just look up "full duplex" headset or walkie talkie. Full duplex is key that's what always you to talk and listen at the same time

Google on "mast ring whisker pole" and you will see several choices. They seem to reserve "pad eye" for those with a flat bottom.

@@jamesconger8509 you can even add a track so you can rise and lower it change sails or roll up the sail some. The cutting board addons is genius

I don't think I can justify the jib track on my boat. I just use small jib (110%), and one vertical position seems to work fine. I've seen boats with larger jibs make very good use of the jib track though. Some get essentially a spinnaker shape out of the jib using a long pole pretty high up the mast.
