Most of these dealerships spend hundreds of dollars detailing the truck, inside and out... they can hide leaks when they pressure wash the engine to make it great. Suggestion of offered. Spend $$$ on extra dealership-only warranty. So if is a Freightliner, make sure warranty is covered by Freightliner. Se for any other Manufacturer. Gomeoyh a mechanic like this guy, took his diagnostic laptop!!!

Your a hella of a guy. The guy paid for your travel and diagnostic and you saved him a ton of Money up front.Great job. You should go on tour ,Everybody doesnt go to Cali. So Tour bro. Make Chicago your 1st stop.

Great job, Francisco. I guess I've been lucky, my first truck was an old Scheinider 2002 truck. 733,000 miles, Detroit 60 series, only did 2 super tune ups, sold it with 1 million 90k Second truck 2014 DD15 cascadia 452, 000 miles, 4 years and no problems with filter, motor, ok.

Good job good to know what to looks for when buying used truck thanks

I passed on these truck and bought the red one which is exactly the same pinstriping interior ( came from same outfit) very true about fixing or inspecting vehicle. I took out the water filter and OMG it was absolutely covered in calcium rock like particles it was NEVER changed. Also just replaced all 8 schocks ( 2 were the small cab schocks on sleeper) freightliner washes the trucks and do NOTHING else.

Wish I was knowledgeable enough to do this and not just trust the dealer before I bought my truck. It was a $30k mistake, I had that much in repairs and still not done bringing it to acceptable state. You’d think the franchise dealers would do better than the independent but you have to cover yourself from all of them. They are all in it for the money, be careful with these warranties they sell too. $6k spent on that nonsense and covered nothing. Keep up the good work Francisco and keep the videos coming, they are very helpful.

Didn’t cover any of my issues, I actually had one $700.00 bill of which $375.00 was due to an emissions part and I paid my $250.00 deductible for that part of the repair plus the other so the warranty did pitch in for something. Point being, have a professional inspect whatever you are looking at, it is worth whatever that person charges. It will save you quite a bit of headache not to mention money.

The smell of the box feels like a ceramic transformer, that smell is sign of a unhealthy DOC and SCR emissions filter. It is possible that there is a damage on it. It could work fine for couple months but eventually it will start smoking while running and the SCR will be the one causing the problem.

Thank you Francisco but most of us don't have detroit software to monitor the temps. This is why dealers need to just replace the box at 450k and add it to the price. Also changing the DEF filter because people overlook it so often. And definitely check the expansion tank for boilover and discoloration. Cracked head or blown head gasket is just as costly as that 1box. It's a lot to look out for.

@@rramirez1975 copiado..fijate que oigo muchas cosas malucas del DD 15 toda la raza dice que mil veces mejor un cummins y asi..pero hay otra gente k dicen k si salen buenos y al contrario aqui el compa paco los recomienda y que las partes son mas baratas..pero la verdad la mayoria les echa mucho..aun k el eliminarlo no esta mal..por ejemplo aqui no corremos a califas..estamos en texas..saludos!

Raul Garcia El motor en si es muy bueno. Lo que da problemas es el sistema de emisiones. Tienes que tener mucho cuidado con la presión de aceite. Dependiendo del año del motor puedes necesitar una bomba de aceite nueva. Suerte

Also, let the dealership take the hit fixing truck. If the #'s are there for you after they fix it. Then buy it. I would NOT get a discount and buy it at my own risk.

Advice to take. Buy an old truck rebuild and stay the fuck away from Cali lol.
