About leap attack, in the gunlancer discord we have new testing that shows direct hit only affects the first hit of the first leap. It doesn't affect the low shock second leap, or the electric field damage of either of the 2 hits. This makes quick prep much more appealing and allows you to have a better rotation. The rotation part of the video was too wishy washy and not conclusive. Expecting to hit 4 skills in every bash relies on having too much attack speed which most people won't have. The general rotation used would be, with quick prep on leap attack, bash + shield bash (with rage) + thunderbolt (to account for damage luck delay) + leap attack + (shield shock 2x), then bash + shield bash + shield charge + leap attack + shield shock 2x. This is why shield shock is very useful (with cooldown tripod too, not attack speed). No shield shock would be a dps loss since you swap with auto attack, but there is still no benefit to using all 4 skills during one bash and then waiting for 8seconds unless there is a mechanic incoming where you can't dps.

This theory crafting video is so informative to actually learn the class and not just copy paste build. I really appricate it a lot. And also, ryuuu_jin please stop staring into my soul, i feel frighten.

Love these kind of guides where you don't just copy paste. Sure, some engravings like grudge 3, CR1 and barricade 3 are must haves. But as said in the video, it's all down to preference. Like if I had Cursed doll at level 2, I think it's a fine choice given it's penalty -less for blue GL, because I want my adrenaline at 3 to make up for my swift necklace.

Thanks for finally explaining why people take spirit absorption. Shield Shock will always outparse Surge Cannon for DPS if you're blue. Surge Cannon is only taken on blue for destruction and stagger.

From my understanding it's not that optimal. Usually you would use precise dagger on classes that have a lot of of crit damage. E.g final strike sorc. Gunlancers doesn't have any crit damage boosting skills and tripods so unfortunately people don't usually use it

@@moneyboyok Precise Dagger has very high efficiency at low crit rate too so for a Swiftness GL it's very strong (gives about 17% damage increase). The problem is that the second you have crit synergies in your party or if you're rocking Lost Wind 12 the damage boost of Precise goes straight in the toilet and ends up giving you around 12-15% damage.

I use hit master instead of stabilised status. The loss of DPS is basically negligible cus the only skill that has a front attack modifier on the 4 big ones is shield bash (which is also the one that does less damage out of the 4) and doing new raids on ilvl does make it tough to keep it over 80% HP ALL THE TIME. Once you get used to the raids, then that extra 2% damage overall from the shield bash damage increase (and awakenings if you actually rely on it for damage) is worth it for the min-maxing. I tried both during valtan and, personally, hit master allows me to just be a major brainless idiot who has no fear instead of a minor brainless idiot who gets scared if your shield runs and you lose those 16% extra damage from stabilised status. Hit master might be more expensive, but it is also much easier to find the proper accessories with it.

Shield Bash may be low damaging skill compared to Guardian Thunderbolt, and Shield Charge, but its CD is lower. So, the DPS of it can't be underestimated.

THANK YOU! I went spec/swift because the advantages were just better than damage ceiling. The additional CDR, move/attack speed equal to SA lv2, and more importantly being able to spam skills to bounce between phases from the nightmare set. Overall I'd rather go Swiftness and miss out on a little bit of damage.

Great video. I didn't know Swfitness in necklace was viable.

I went 2/2 entropy. Its Keen Blunt Weapon. Then I went 4/4 Hallucination. Adrenaline on the 3/4. 41.04% crit rate.

What is the best way Farm legendaries engraving books?

My main 1460 on eu west. Absolutely love this character. The only problem is his movement speed :( . I run 4x3 + 1 - grudge, cursed doll, barricade, adrenaline and combat readiness level 1. I've seen people running Precise Dagger. I would love to run Spirit Absorption, but 3 damaging engravings is not enough imo.

there's a vendor in peyto that sells a consumable wine which gives 3% movement speed buff for 20 mins. basically spirit absorb lv1 (he also sells another consumable for an atk speed +3% buff too)

@@theFlankerify Precise Dagger is almost always worse in our version of the game for blue GL because Lost Wind 12, party crit buffs and Lance of Judgment lower its value drastically. Switch Cursed Doll for SS and your build is perfect for 4x3+1.

If you have high level CD gems, Leap Attack's Quick Prep tripod (Leap Attack is used for every bash cycle), you can run out of mana as long as you are casting all skills uninterrupted even with Focus runes on Shout of Hatred and Nellasia. For example, before I got 2-set Nightmare pieces, I often ran out of mana on Deskaluda. Life got a lot better once I got 2-piece Nightmare. Now, I have full nightmare. Because Magic Addiction buff adds mana cost to all your skills, you will run out of mana rather quickly, but then Boundless MP kicks in and starts replenishing mana.

There are few blue gunlancer's ive seen with Spirit Absorption as one of their engravings, which helps with being slow. Ofc, doing less dps, but avoiding mechs is better. G2 Vykas she do hit hard, specially when she do the landing combo, the Back-safe front-wave.

@@xsaviour755 I've tried it on Trixion, swapping my SA3 for SS3 and changing crit for swift...it is actually good, 10% less cd...*Almost* every skills cd matches perfectly xD (still having lv7 and lv6 gems)...I do less crit ofc, but the dmg is constant....I still dont have the chance to have swf/spec for vykas (no accs yet xD)

Not without losing significant DPS, it's your third highest damage skill. With Leg Galewind and Swiftness on Necklace it doesn't feel clunky at all to me, it covers more distance than walking for the same amount of time.

You see someone that is going to eat a massive hit and can't move (knocked down/cc'd/or immobilized) you can use battle field shield. I'd try and use nellesia's if it's up though, the loss of meter is a heavy downside. Note that battlefield shield only affects your party. As for specific places to use it. Vykas gate 3 typing mechanic. You can block the damage when several people fail the typing test but don't wipe. Valtan gate 2. You can block some high damage moves like the imprisonment pattern. I think you can even prevent the knock back from his counter stance, but have never been in a position to test it.

26:16 is my current build and I'm enjoying it but I'm open to get 5x3 1 and move crit to swiftness. I'll try it out!

It's an alright engraving, but you lose out on damage on shield bash and bash. Potentially swap out stabilized status with hit master if you aren't able to maintain 80% health.

My Blue GL is my favorite DPS class. 6 piece nightmare feels really good. I usually take surge cannon over shield charge. It just feels like I'm doing a lot more damage. Is shield charge actually more DPS?

Shield charge scales with spec, surge cannon doesn't. I would say shield charge does more dmg than surge cannon from 1400 spec upwards

shield charge does a lot of dmg with high spec and offers more mobility. I wouldnt drop shield charge I would follow what ATK said surge cannon can only be fit in that "free spot" he mentioned I'm not sure what other skill you're running maybe dash upper fire or fire bullet? I would run shield charge over one of them for sure.

Shield charge does a ton of damage with the level 10 tripod, as much or more than guardian thunder even. I'll sometimes take surge cannon instead of nelasia's for higher dps on "easy" content though because it does still do decent damage. An extra dps skill also makes the bash syncing issue atk discussed a lot easier to deal with.

just tested in trixion, shield charge does roughly double the damage of surge cannon for me, with half the cooldown. 2.1 million at 16s cd vs. 1.2 million at 30s cd. both level 11, no gems or other buffs, but i don't have proper surge cannon tripods, so it's not a fully fair comparison; still, it has a lot of ground to make up. the red class and combat engravings skyrocket the damage of surge cannon, but blue doesn't have these. surge cannon is worth if you have to go absolutely ham on extra stagger damage though. edit: shield charge scales hard with spec, so if you're lower ilvl surge cannon base damage is great, but shield charge should outscale it over time.

Thoughts on increase mass as long as we can land rotation in debuff window?

Im one of the people that likes Surge cannon in my blue build. Take it over Nelassias. Of course I do have a second build with shield and no cannon, but only use it with pug groups since my usual group is fine without shields and prefer higher dps. Bash rune, I prefer bleed, tested it against all the other skills and bash bleed is superior damage to pretty much everything else.

but you loose efficient crit damage that way, dont count the solo content, if you have party synergy from exam: gunslinger, glavier, etc, which is are most porpular after Zerk and sorc for like 10% more crit you still can deal crit damage effectively without losing 20% from precise dagger

actual, u can swap one of acessories for crit if u dont have gold, and work well because of the plus crit rate fill the damage losses. for me i have necklase with spec crit, and ONE ring with crit, all other are spec.

that's a very bad idea. as he explained in the video, 10 spec is 1.75% dmg. losing 180 spec on a ring is losing over 30% damage. you are far better off running 4x3 +1 and having all spec accessories than getting 5x3 and having an accessory with crit instead of spec.

@@larthur1000 critting more does not make up for losing base damage. 180 spec is 31% damage. 180 crit is something like 6.5% crit. assuming 1% is 1% damage (rough, but accurate enough for this illustration), you're losing about 21% damage overall by choosing a crit ring over spec. Let's assume you did it to get a level 3 grudge engraving maxed out, you're STILL doing less damage than if you had just gotten a spec ring and no engraving. this damage gap is only widened when you consider that it's likely not grudge but some other less engraving that you're sacrificing your spec to get.

Bad idea even if I need to sacrifice Crit always go for full spec. For example your ring would give you 5% Crit chance, that mean it's a 10% DMG increase (0,05*200(DMG Crit). But 180 spec : 20% DMG increase without the Crit RNG.

I will disagree on the bash cooldown mechanic. You need the highest cooldown gem on Bash, you need that synergy ALL THE TIME . You arent playing solo most of the time , so you bash for your team and not only yourself . And if you are playing solo , then your bash will be always up , whenever your skills come out !

@@marledanimefan7186 But even with lowest Lv cooldown Gem on Bash, you will keep the synergy all the time. Bash's base cooldown is 10 seconds and the Armor Destruction tripod's effect duration is also 10 seconds. So if you can somehow use Bash immediately off cooldown, then you will still keep the Armor Destruction effect nearly 100% uptime without any CD gem for Bash. I tested with Lv 5 CD Gem for Bash, Lv 7 CD Gem for all main damage skills, except Leap Attack, which I used Lv 8 CD Gems for (I don't have Lv 9 CD Gem for Leap Attack yet, but I do have Lv 5 Quick Prep tripod). The recommended rotation works flawlessly except Leap Attack, which is sometimes still on very short CD right after Thunderbolt - this is because I don't have Lv 9 CD Gem for Leap Attack yet. Bash -> Shield Bash -> Guardian Thunderbolt -> Leap Attack -> Shield Shock or Auto Atk Bash -> Shield Bash -> Shield Charge -> Leap Attack -> Shield Shock or Auto Atk Eventually, my goal is to have Lv 7 Bash CD gem, Lv 9 all other damage skill gems, Lv 10 Leap Attack CD gem.

If you go blue and doesn't want to handle your hp bar go for hit master instead. Less efficient. Sometimes I substitute for support in Vykas hm, at that point stabilized statut is useless.

It may be difficult to manage HP above 80% while learning, but almost everyone is suboptimal with DPS when learning at first, so what have you got to lose? Your party DPS will be low and will keep wiping while learning anyways. Once you have learned the attack patterns and mechanics and have easier time keeping your HP above 80%, you have an almost unconditional 16% additional damage. The engraving is also very cheap. You can easily buy legendary books for early +12 nodes or try to get SS on accessories cuz those accessories will be cheap (No other classes use this engraving). I get that if you make a mistake and your HP falls slightly below 80%, you have to use HP potions. I have felt that pain, but I think it's well worth it. But i guess it comes down to preferences. All engravings have a condition or negative - for adrenaline, you gotta keep the stack. Keep losing the stack and adrenaline is a dead engraving. Precise Dagger lowers crit dmg and its effectiveness drops if you get Crit synergy. Spirit Absorption is a minor gain in DPS but mostly QoL. While Hit Master is low maintenance, it's only for non-positional skills - its lack of bonus for Shield Bash is not very desirable (While Shield Bash doesn't do as much damage as a skill like Thunderbolt, its CD is low, so the DPS is still pretty high). Out of these, Stabilized Status sounds like a good deal.

Im making a red one too, blue looks too braindead (i main a pally so i already have enough braindead gameplay) and also blue skills are so boring to look at for me. I love charging skills and red goes boom boom

Good video. Nevertheless, I want to greatly disagree about Spirit Absorption. It's a dogshit engraving and I have zero idea why Koreans love doing this, especially on blue GL. Increasing Attack Speed doesn't increase your DPS since your cooldown is the same. So what if you finish your attack faster? You still wait for your cooldown to come up the same time as if you don't have the attack speed. You literally hit the same amount of skills in the same widow with or without Spirit Absorption. Spirit Absorption is good for classes that need to get their animations in faster for back/head attack and move out to dodge with increased movement speed but it is still NOT a DPS engraving. MAYBE you want to argue that you can fit 1 more skill during bash window. So you sacrifice a proper damage engraving that increases your damage by 15-20% to increase the damage of ONE skill 25%?? It's a dogshit comparison. May as well take Heavy Armor instead since both give fck none for damage. And the movement speed is wasted on a class that literally stands in one place for 90% of the time. If you need to move, you have shield charge and leap attack to reposition. If you want some speed to "feel" better, just take Swiftness necklace. At least it has CDR which is an actual DPS increase, while still giving 8% speed the same as SA. CDR also has the benefit of increasing your stagger damage since stagger damage in this game is a fixed amount per skill and not affected by the actual damage. Always take Adrenaline lvl 2 since it's the strongest and most busted lvl 2 engraving in the game.

The point of taking Spirit Absorption is for the increased attack speed to fit more damage abilities inside of your Bash window, not for just generally spamming attacks.

So you use a whole lvl 3 engraving to fit skill in bash window and increase 25% damage for ONE skill, instead of taking a proper damage engraving to increase damage of ALL skill??? Take Sight Focus next time then. It's 28% damage at least and still a dogshit engraving.
