The Facebook ads platform is constantly evolving and we need to adapt as advertisers if we want the best possible results.
Because of that I have changed my mind on a particular Facebook ads feature.
Previously I recommended that you don't use it. But we have done some more testing recently and we're seeing better results when using it.
In this video I show you what this Facebook ads feature is and how to get the most out of it with best practices.

Good work Ben. We’ve been using dynamic creative exclusively at our agency for the past 3+ years, and have learned a ton of nuances. Happy to share if you ever want to make a “dynamic creative deep dive” Here are a few tips/suggestions when it comes to dynamic creatives: 1.) You can not optimize creatives for specific placements unless you create an ad set exclusively for a specific placement. For example you can’t ensure a 9:16 video will only be shown on a reels/story placement in dynamic creative. The work around is to use a 9:16 video/image that if cropped for use in feeds, would still look good. 2.) Using more than 2 ad copies, 3 images, 2 videos and 2 headlines per dynamic creative ad leads to worse performance than staying at that combination variety 3.) More often than not Link CTR determines which creative gets more of the ad spend budget and impressions allocated towards it and not the conversion you are optimizing for 4.) Always use completely different set of creatives if running multiple ad sets using dynamic creative

I would like to see a video about how changes in adsets affect your existing engagement. Like, if you change anything on ad level, facebook usually just creates a new post and you basically lose all your likes and comments. There's an option to use existing post, but it's pretty confusing.

I wouldnt recommend changing the Ad or Adset settings after a campaign has started because 1. You loose the ability to compare historical data 2. It would reset the learning curve and could have negative impacts in performance

Hi Ben, thanks for all tge value you give out. For people like us that dont have a website, whenever i choose messaging as an option, i get a prompt saying "Ads may yield zero result". I ran the ads multiple times to see if there would be any changes but none so far. This has cost me alot of money and i am sad about it because my ads are not converting. Please what are your recommendations, really hoping to hear from you.
My biggest problem with this solution is exporting it. I created my own database to distinguish good and bad ads over time. Although you can see the breakdown of each ad, you can't really export in a good format unless you type everything manually.
Hi Ben! I've been watching your videos recently and they have helped me a lot managing the ads for our business. I have a question, though, what's your take on Facebook's standard enhancement recommendation? It brags 10% lower potential CPA but, people on reddit says otherwise. I'm tempted to apply it on my on going ads but I'm scared it might only skew the ad performance.
Thank you Ben

For those who are curious, I've experimented with this approach, and it seems to yield better results. However, it can be a bit mentally challenging to disable individual ads within Meta's dynamic creative feature, which is essentially letting Meta optimize between various ads to determine what performs best. One method to remove an "image" within an ad is to access the specific target group and delete the image from there. However, this often triggers the ad to go back into the learning phase and undergo a review. I'm not entirely certain if this is the most effective approach. If anyone else has insights on how to disable images within dynamic creative without disrupting the entire system, please feel free to share your knowledge. :). Meaning to only keep the image ads that are converting.

One interesting thing we’ve learned using dynamic creative over the years, is that if you remove low performing creatives and only keep higher performing creatives active, then the higher performing creatives start to perform worse. Our theory is on this is this: Budget spent per creative likely contributes to its performance success. Meaning, since lower performers long creatives get some ad spend budget allocated to them, the higher performing creatives get the optimal budget and therefore perform the best. Once the lower performing creatives are taken away (without being replaced with something else), meta reallocates more of the budget to spend on higher performing creatives, which can de-optimize when impressions are served and for how long, which can then decrease performance. For example, let’s say I have $5 of my $10 overall budget to spend on showing high performing creative x, and I do this between 6-9pm and I get the best results. And I spend the other $5 showing the other creatives at other time slots and they don’t perform well. If I now remove the lower performing creatives and now I have more of my overall $10 budget to spend on the higher performing creatives, it means I will now show these ads at other time slots that may not be ideal. And by doing that, I’m now decreasing the overall performance metrics of what was once my best performing creatives. I hope this makes sense? Again, pure speculation on our part, but we do see time and time again, that if you run dynamic creative for a period of time, and you find lower performing creatives and take them out, the higher performers will subsequently perform worse.
Hey Ben, thank you for your work!Do you know how to get Facebook to stop instantly blocking my new business accounts? I never launched a single ad, never even owned a Facebook, couple days ago I created everything and then my new business account was restricted, and review did not work. So I tried again, and it was restricted again. What's the matter? What did I do? Mark hates me?
Somebody, please help. I started running my first campaign for a client and I tested 4 different ad sets. They were all scheduled to begin at the same time, but it's been 24 hours and one of the ad sets still just says "scheduled". Do I shut it down and cancel the test and restart???
would you only test 1 ad format in a dct? like 3x videos
How about having the format specific to each placement? Is that possible with DCA? Or are we going to have those ugly IG stories with 4x5 images?
Ben, I guess the main disadvantage from this as opposed to multiple Ads for each creative or A/B testing is that you don't get to understand WHICH combination of creative + copy + CTA is the best performing. Or are there ways to see the performance breakdown?

@bridgetekcommunications332

As an agency that exclusively uses Dynamic Creative (and have been for the last 3+ years) There seems to be a sweet spot regarding the number if creatives to use in Dynamic creative ads. We’ve found that 2 ad copies, 3 images and 2 videos and (2 headlines) routinely provide the best results. Of course it can also depend on your ad spend and performance window (meaning how long are you willing to wait to determine if your campaign is a success or not..) What we have found, however, is that any more than the above (2 ad copies, 2 videos, 3 images) cause ads to underperform over a 30 day window. We’ve also been able to determine that link CTR more often than not determines which creative meta will prioritize showing more often, and as a result, allocate more ad spend to. So it’s very well possible that a higher converting creative may get less allocated ad spend and there for impressions & reach, vs a lower converting creative that has a higher link CTR.

How does this work with the social proof you build up within one ad? Does all comments get split between all ad variations? Example: One user comments on one ad variation; Does this comment get shown on all variations?
H Ben, love your videos, really informative. I have a confusion - if we add new ads to an existing ad set, would that new ad be shown to the people who've already seen the previous ads (in that same ad set) or they would be excluded from the target audience of those new ads? Also, would you suggest creating new ad sets or new ads in the same ad set as the data of an ad set shows all ads data including the new and old ads.

What would be the reasoning behind changing the creative and duplicating the campaign? Ideally if that campaign is working then it has some good amount of data in it so I would try and optimise that further and if you need to test different offers try it out in the same campaign

The issue with this feature is that it’s only allowed to be used for 1 ad set per campaign. How would you recommend determining which ad set gets the dynamic creative feature when, like most advertisers, you have more than one ad set?
@bridgetekcommunications332
6 ай бұрын
It all depends on your ad set strategy and overall budget. If you’re using multiple ad sets to target different audience segments, then you can use dynamic creative for each ad set. However, make sure that your dynamic creatives in each ad set, are completely different from one another. We do this all the time. For example, we could have one ad set targeting audiences based on interest, another ad set targeting look-a-like audiences. Each ad set gets its own dynamic creative, and each dynamic creative gets its own set of ad copies/creatives that are completely different than the other. Hope this helps.

@@iboomayt8185 4.8 sound very bad tbh. Usually you don't want the frequency to be more than 3 over a span of a month. I'm an artist marketing my art prints, and Facebook keeps showing my ads to a lot of other artists instead of buyers. I can tell this is happening because I will look at the profiles of the people engaging with my ads and a lot of them are artists themselves. I see this as a very bad thing, since other artists are mostly clicking out of curiosity of their competition and don't have intentions to purchase. I have followed your tutorials closely and am optimizing for purchases. I tried to exclude "artist" as an occupation, but Facebook only offers the option to exclude "digital artist" without a general "artist" occupation. The only other option is to exclude the entire interest "art, artists, visual art.." ..obviously I don't want to exclude people interested in art...just people who create art themselves. Any suggestions on how to actually stop Facebook from showing my ads to so many other creators instead of buyers?

One way around that would be to run leads or sales campaign. Then, if the clicks don't convert, Facebook will learn not to show your ads to that particular audience. If that is not an option, you could try extending your target audience - there are not that many artists, compared to the size of general population. IF you are only getting clicks from content creators it may mean that your targeting is wrong.
