Thank you for being a person who has actually demonstrated the correct way to use that style of zipper foot. That same foot is included with Brother and BabyLock machines. It is a very well designed foot that rides over the zipper teeth allowing the edge of the foot to be placed along the basted seam so that the stitching line is exactly ¼” from center back on either side of the seam. Beautiful execution of the zipper.

It's fantastic. Allows you to sew from the right side so you get a clean even stitch line without your zipper wobbling too and fro!

This is a good suggestion for that type of zipper. But I use invisible zippers almost always now.
