@@Nachmed It used to be called "split screen", but as long as the camera and lights are never, EVER disturbed and you don't mess with the scaling and positioning of the shots, you can do this easily by cropping the shots in any competent video editor like Premiere or DaVinci.

I recently switched from Cura which I've been using for over a year to PrusaSlicer 2.3 because of this video and on my 1st print I saw the best print quality I ever had. The main improvement I see is that the layer lines are so much more consistent and seams seem to disappear! I'm using a heavily modified Creality CR-20. This is a big step for me in print quality. Thanks so much for the video Thomas and the work done by the Prusa team!!

This is the slicer i been using since I got my Ender 3 V2. I have been using the profile prusaslicer already had for the pro and upped the Perimeter print speed to 60mm/s. I see you are a big fan of the V2 so when you get your files crazy tuned, do you mind posting them ?? ?

Pretty sure he didn't read this. It's understandable. Channel's significantly smaller get enough comments to make content creators disable notifications. Maybe one day he'll accidentally read your comment and reply.

Aaaa brother! Now I can finally use my ender 3 pro! I had problems with the first layer all the time (magnetic bed) and now with Prusaslicer it is a pleasure to be able to squeeze this machine to the fullest, in the first test the impression came out perfect! Thank you! I was using Slic3r by the Repetier-Host and I was feeling "behind" the others, this motivated me try something different, looks like doing all in the same software is much better, also, I was used to the older Slic3r, so it is very friendly.

I've gotten some incredible results after switching to PrusaSlicer for my custom built coreXY. I don't know what kind of black magic is going on behind the scenes, but I'm thankful for it. The variable layer height tool is absolutely genius, as well as the organization of the settings. Print, filament, and printer settings is so much more intuitive. I run PrusaSlicer on Linux Mint, and it even works with the dark mode theme. The OctoPrint connection is also incredibly helpful. I'm loving it!!!

At the beginning of the year I did pretty much exactly what you just presented for my Artillery Sidewinder X1. It works way better for me than Cura because I prefer the PS-workflow (also I achieved better printing quality). For the pre-print G-CODE I recommend waiting for the bed temperature before starting G29.

Thanks for the video! I switched from Cura to Prusa Slicer about one month ago and since then I kept using PrusaSlicer. The only reason to switch back to Cura from Time to Time are the Tree Supports. In most cases they are way better than the standard supports. I would love to see that integrated in PrusaSlicer

Thanks for this guide! I followed it carefully, but found that although I was getting good "squish" on my first layer, it was still full of gaps between lines. I brought the Extrusion Width -> First Layer back to 0.75mm which has completely rectified the issue. This was on an Anycubic Mega X.

This is THE best video you ever made! its so great I would download it and save it on my NAS for future generations, (I hope that the fact prusa will take over all sclicers now - will force simplify 3d to release an update soon)

Great video overall. Just remember wipe while retracting + lift Z adds quite a bit of time to tall, narrow prints, unless in vase mode where they don't apply. I go with only lift Z to save time. They still look nice, if you print one object at a time.

I was totally done with Prusa (uninstalled and everything) today trying to get the settings down for my Tenlog IDEX. But your video totally saved the day and im happily printing with colors and all now😭🙌💙💙

I've recently installed the new PrusaSlicer for my custom printer. I had some changes/issues I needed to sort through with the latest Reprap Firmware on Duet 2. There was a new Reprap option that didn't work for me, I had to go back to the old Reprap option in PrusaSlicer. Thanks for telling me about background processing! Didn't know that existed.

Prusa Slicer is a pretty nice upgrade for my Replicator 2X. I found somebody who had made some FFCP profiles for it, I've done some improvements to them and adjustment to the rep2x, and they work pretty nice! A bit slower print speeds inherited from the ffcp by default than what I was previously running in Cura, but lack of failures makes up for it, and I can gradually inch them up.

Really smart of Prusa... get more non Prusa printers natively supported and bring the users a step closer to the own environment. I‘ll take it. Already have my eye on an MK3s, but currently still quite happy with my heavily modded i3MS from Anycubic. Happy to see I can now easily try out the Prusa Slicer. Pretty sure this tips the scale towards a MK3s soon though :)

Just tried this on my Anycubic i3 Mega using the provided profile in the slicer. Haven't touched the printer in a year. Just leveled the bed used new, dry pla and WOW. Prusaslicer yields INSANELY good prints at VERY high speeds.

Why do I get the idea that your getting me to set this up for my dolly clone ;-) Prusa knows what they are doing! Merry Christmas, an I promise I will transition from Cura soon... I just know where everything is I want!

I know this is kind of off-topic but I just wanted to say, holy shit your lighting and camera setup is so good. It's like eyecandy compared to 99% of other youtubers - even the huge names that I have mad respect for, like 3D Printing Nerd, Maker's Muse, Teaching Tech, etc - they have great setups but yours in comparison seems like a polished professional corporation's setup. Absolutely flawless and the usage of 60FPS for even the most basic facecam feed makes a truly phenomenal difference when it comes to the quality. tl;dr this looks and feels like a professionally-produced tutorial/walkthrough recorded by a film crew rather than a youtuber.

Yeshhh, I was playing with the beta versions. Ever since I switched to PrusaSlicer two weeks ago I have never looked back at Cura. God I really dislike Cura now. PrusaSlicer works so much better. Today I printed a beautiful self designed ring with layer ironing for the top layers. I can't even see a single nozzle artifact on the top layer, it's perfectly smooth!

Yup. Same. Switched over to Prusa Slicer earlier this year. I only use Cura now when I really do need Tree Supports for a specific model. 90% of my work is now done with Prusa Slicer.

I miss tree supports (for fdm not resin), but PrusaSlicer 2.3 is pretty neat and a big improvement on 2.2 :)

My printer is a home brew Repstrap. It's design is similar to a "generic" Prusa I3, IE: bed moves in Y axis, two motors lift the X axis gantry (Z axis), and the direct drive extruder and hot end moves on the gantry (x axis). Mine uses NEMA-23 motors (cheap surplus find) except for the extruder which uses a 400 step/rev NEMA-17. Hot end is a Prometheus with 0.4mm nozzle. Heated bed is a bunch of square sand resistors glued to a 1/8" thick 8"x10" aluminum plate with JB weld. It has a WhamBam flexible metal build surface held down with a magnetic sheet glued to the heated bed. I also have a inductive probe for bed leveling (still have to configure Marlin to use it) attached to the Z-MAX input. All min inputs go to standard micro switches for each axis. Standard Arduino Mega with RAMPS board, 12v power supply (ATX). Uses larger belt pulleys with 3/8" wide belt, and 8mm drive screws (z axis). Printer has under gone gradual upgrades, printing it's own parts. Now has Linear Rail for the x axis, and round linear rods and bearings for the Y. Z axis still uses ball bearing drawer slides! (replacing those with rails would involve a complete disassembly of the printer, and re-drilling new holes in the steel frame pieces. Not going to fix what isn't really broken at this time). I'm not sure what printer profile would be the best to start off with, but anything close to a generic I3 should work as a starting point, probably requiring retarding some of the speed parameters. Which is about what I ended up with on a earlier version of Prusia Slicer, with acceptable results. I always had to set the green flags to red to use any of the supplied filament and print profiles, didn't know how to make copies targeted for my printer. Will try your suggestions, thanks! BTW just loaded RC-2, the "Stable" version of 2.3 is still not out.

I started using Prusaslicer a few weeks ago. I have to check my profile against your recommendations to see if I missed anything. This slicer is much better than Simplify3D, I just cannot sum up all the features that I love in Prusaslicer. A few are: modifier meshes, much easier change in profile settings compared to S3D, start printing automatically by sending the file to Octoprint directly from Prusaslicer, spiltting up print settings, filament settings and printer settings. This also is the first program, apart from CAD programs, that makes proper use of the 3Dconnection SpaceMouse. Version 2.3 adds the paint on support which makes using custom supports very easy. At this time the 2.3 version is not yet available as official install package and only as "release candidate" (2.3.0 rc2). I guess the Prusa team is now enjoying a few well earned Christmas holidays.

PrusaSlicer has excelled by leaps and bounds over cura and Simplify3D. The infill settings are top notch

playback at 0.75 works great

looks like it's time to upgrade. The dynamic cubic infill and time estimate by feature type look SUPER useful! Oh and PursaSlicer has been my go-to slicer for a few years because it handles IDEX and multiple tools better than Cura. (Cura un-retracts the new tool at the wrong time, there are fixes but they're a lot more work than just using PrusaSlicer)

Been using 2.3 since alpha 1. It is GREAT! Paint on Z seam is a game changer! Cura and Simplify have some work to do.

How do the supports compare to Simplify3d? I have switched to Slic3r PE a while back but find myself going back to Simplify3d for anything that needs a lot of supports.

Not sure...don't use supports a lot. Never in PS.

That fish eye lens made me stare at the ender3v2 for 10x longer than i should have trying to figure out what model that is. It looks 2x as massive.

Perhaps it's time I look into PrusaSlicer... I've been using Slic3r for the 2+ years I've had my Prusa i3 Mk3 and it's done me very well. Mostly I design & print things for their mechanical properties but occasionally I print things for their aesthetic properties so I'd like more control over support and that ironing looks good.

The disappearing filament profiles was killing me; your method is far easier than editing the .ini. Thanks! PrusaSlicer is destroying S3D now so it's nice to be able to set it up for my MakerGear M3ID. The machine costs three times as much as an i3 but typically produces inferior parts. Currently the only advantage is dual material and duplication mode. Perhaps that will change with some smarter gcode.

Lay flat is nice. Simplify 3d could do that and Cura can do that too for a while now.

Glad you told me about the firmware thing, I'd hate to accidentally overwrite mine. And why did I ever bother with Cura? Just the fifteen minutes I played around with it I liked it. It seems like you have more control over each object on the build plate (like changing infill settings, and if cura can do that too then it was MUCH easier to find in this slicer) and a better layout. Even the small things like not being able to use my scroll wheel on the preview of the nozzle movement but I could on the layer view annoyed me but prusaslicer could do both. So glad I found this video because I've been putting off trying a new slicer. I guess the real test is tomorrow when I do my first print.
