Andrew Alton’s duck/headlock combo vs Lehigh might be the best move in NCAA wrestling history. Absolute perfection

Promises made, promises kept. I am not disappointed. Great job breaking down an awesome move. It's already such a fast and slick move that being able to transition if it's countered can make you deadly. I think I even understand now why I mentioned it before. It seems an opponent who becomes reluctant to tie up will expose himself to a double leg trying to defend. Get good at both and they'll either fall as you slip behind or they'll stand straight up and let you score 4 or 5 on a double. This headlock is a great addition. Dreams of my youth. Thank you sir!

Yeah man it’s such a dangerous combination. Michael McKee is a great example of what you said about being reluctant to tie up and setting yourself up for a double leg. Watch his match against Dylan Ragusin. Everytime Ragusin touched him he hit a slide-by and when Ragusin didn’t he switched to his blast double. It was unreal

Thank you. I do it that way to communicate that the guys these moves are being hit against are also studs and how "this won't work on a good guy" won't apply.

Wow-as always great explanation/tutorial. Turning a missed 2-3 point move into a 5-6 point move-or a pin! Waaaay back-1970-ducks were more commonly done with less-much less lower body level change -1)give his head a slight push-2)it pops back 3)as you slightly lift his elbow4)slide head under-5)keep his head trapped against your shoulder with collar tie 6)lock hands torso 7)block his foot-step on it- nails him to mat 8) twist wrench him down Main advantage over knee drop is less invulnerable to those lethal front head locks you taught earlier When you duck fails-just as well positioned to do the throw you show. Defense against all low attacks-singles a low duck like this-is sooo lethal now-front head locks-all the reach overs- YIKES- defense is sooo lethal-wrestlers are sooo good now-internet changed wrestling- It has plenty to do with why USA is soooo good internationally-despite far fewer college wrestling programs- USA is best in world in FREE STYLE which is not USA emphasis- that Meyer fellow-freshman who is sooo freaking good/slick beyond belief and the white as a refrigerator fellow who beat Vito-freshmen-beating a world champion?? Great stuff as always!

This is a good move with a contingency alternative. Chain wrestling has algorithms; If opponent does A, you do B, if he does B, you do C and so on.

Setups are important, you’ve got to surprise them or it’s easier for them to counter. Sag headlocks are also a little harder to roll through. The pinch headlock is hard to roll though and sets up a more stable pinning position or an easy takedown kzread.info/dash/bejne/lm12t6iYiZjLiKw.html

the other replies are great, the other thing I'd add is weight placement when you throw/land is also important. If your weight is over them then it is easier to roll you through
