Use 5V RGB Fans on 12V Motherboard with DEEPCOOL RGB CONVERTER
Ғылым және технология
In this video, we are using the DeepCool 5V to 12V RGB Transfer Hub to be able to use 5V 3pin Fans on 12V B450 Motherboard.
We are using the Deepcool RGB Converter on the PC COOLER Corona RGB Fans, Moonlight Series. I was able to sync up all my 5V 3pin fans on 12V 4pin ASUS B450 F Gaming motherboard, alongside my Gkill TridentZ RGB Ram. Great combination when everything is all synced up. I’ll show you all the cool effects I’m able to do by using this DeepCool Gamerstorm RGB Transfer Hub. Actually, I'm gonna show you 2 ways to do it, with the included PC Cooler RGB controller and with the DeepCool RGB Converter.

I thought I was going to have to live with that friggin controller for my fans - cycling between only a couple of light modes while my ram, mobo and gpu have all the fun. Thanks for highlighting how to hook this up. Now, i'll be able to "like" my fans as well.
Thank you so much for this! You've just solved my problem in a clear and concise way. I've been banging my head against a wall trying to figure this out
Nice video! I think you might be one of the only people I could find that actually showed how to install it instead of just talking about it for 15 minutes. Thank you!

Thank you! What's the fun in just talking about anything? Let's see it! Throw in some macro shots too so we can actually see what's going on. Boom.
Absolutely agree with Marcos. Your video was the most user friendly and thorough I've seen on this product. Confident now that I won't fry any 5v fans on my 12v rgb headers. Thanks and good luck on your future videos!
Just what I needed!!! Was about to buy a whole new board.. saved me$$$$$
Straightforward and helpful. Cant wait for my build. Subbed!
finally ... a vid on how to do this ...thank u so much i cant believe no one has a vid .. (least i havent found one ) u made it super easy to understand .. thanks again
Really nice video, exactly what i searched for, thanks!
Thanks for doing this video. I'm installing this hub for RGB needs with Deepcool cf120 fans and the Deepcool matrexx 55 case. I wasn't sure of wiring orientation but this fixed that.
Thanks man, exactly what I'm searching for! This is life-saving. 😀😁
Best one out there. Fast, Clear, no nonsense
Ita exactly what I wanted to see from deepcool converter, thanks a lot!)
This is so detailed, thank you v much, picking up today!
Great video. I had all of the stuff but not the knowledge to make it work, thanks a ton.
thanks for this video. i watched a sea, not se, an ocean of videos that shows only basic connection 3pin to 4pin mobo. and that was it. i needed more and i saw it here. thankis!
Building a new PC after 4 years and going back to this video again. Very informative. Not to mention we have the same mobo (which I am reusing) so I'm in luck. 😁
Hey thanks! This video helped me a lot and your explanation is clear.
Really really helpful video! Thank you for this!
Wow great review , clever options .
Thanks this was life saving.
this device must be one of the most useful things ever made, nice video, you have my exact same problem 3 pins fans with 4 pins motherboard and this device seems to solve this problem, keep the good work !

Thank you for this video I am gonna try to get this converter soon and was scared it may be the wrong thing but I think it’ll be the correct thing. Hopefully I can make my fans work otherwise I bought 6 rgb fans that will be regular
Good review! Considering that it worked well with the PC Cooler Corona 3in1 Kit, would you know if it will work with PC Cooler FRGB Halo 3in1 Kit?

Nice set of RGB lights for the price. I ended using the mini controller, unfortunately my motherboard doesn't support rgb control. Wonder what the lifespan will be regarding the lights.
Hello Ray, great video, with the second method can you have the Rainbow effect as in the first method ?
thank you bro
wow, i just knew that there's this thing out there.. Danggg I was too late to know it..
Gonna try this fix for a Arctic AIO lighting setup that didn't work with the MB 3 pin connector. Thanks for the videol
Hello. Can I also use this for my fans and aio? Both has 5v 3pin and my mobo is 4 pin (rog strix b450 f gaming). Thanks for the vid. It's very informative.
Muy bien explicado💪
Thank you for the vid, was actually really helpful, I have the same issue 3 pin 5 volts vs 4 pings 12v in my mother board XD One questions this converter have 2 port for 5 volst 3 pings or just the one ?
@RayValencia
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Victor. Thanks! It has (2) 5V connectors but one of them is a dedicated 5V 3pin Gigabyte connection, The other is a Asus/MSI 5V 3pin connection. You can use a splitter out of that port like I did too. The other side has (2) 12V 4pin Connections for Asus, MSI, Gigabyte.

How did it work out for you bud?
I like your video, it's very helpful. But is there a product similar to deepcool? I've searched the online shop in my country but all the shops are empty Thanks
I found this converter but was confused what its use would be with only one 5V connector (I currently have 5 cables that need connecting). Didn't think of the fact that splitter cables exist :'D thanks!
Want to thank you for your great and helpful explaining during this video

I have an Aorus anti-sag bracket and I can't light it so I ordered this converter for like 8 dollars. Hope it would work once it arrives.
This video really helped me. Thanks a lot brother. Also please tell me how many argb fans can we connect through with this converter. (Like 3-4 case fans ARGB & 2-3 ARGB AIO FANS?)

Thanks Varun. I have tested it with 3RGB fans and 2 regular LED case fans.
hello great video!!! i also have the same setup, the rgb splitter for 3 fans are included with the DeepCool?
@RayValencia
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Petros. The splitter came with the PC Cooler fans
FOR ASROCK USERS In general Asrock MB are not supported, but in my case (BeQuiet 500DX) LEDs were blinking, after using this device I can set up static colors, only effects like breathing are not working properly. So if you face a problem with blinking leds - this may fix it.
Got the same issue with the b450F and the P400A case! Will getting the 4 pin/12V Corsair LL RGB fans with the commander solve this anyway?
Thanks for the vid. The thing is I have a ARGB hub, can I directly plug to the converter or should I use splitter cable instead? Hope to here from you soon.
@RayValencia

I have also been wondering this same question. Unfortunately, I don't have one to test this out. Does anyone know if this will work with an ARGB hub? Because although you gain a lot of functionality and effects with this method, it's not addressable.
@MrMimbz

I want to know the answer to this too. Im thinking of using 2 deepcool convertors in case argb hub+convertor does not work. Anyone else tried it out?

@@RayValencia Cool, thanks.
I am using this device since I had to replace my motherboard and didn't realize it doesn't have a 3 pin header. I don't really mind losing the functionality of changing individual colors as I always left it on blue before having to change mobo's. My problem is, I can't use any of the effects now like breathing, color cycle or any that have movement because when I set it to that it just flashes instead of smoothly transitioning. It also will not sync with my ram. I'm using mystic light 3. Do you have any idea if there is a remedy to this?
I wonder if is necessary to connect the pci e to psu if only using one fan. I would think is possible. But maybe you can answer my question. Thank you
Can you plug a fan hub into the converter and everything still works the same?
Can i change the speed of the fans with the second method?
so with the deepcool converter you can use argb effect trough software without having argb header in the mobo ? I am correct? I'm asking cause at the end I could not appreciate the argb effects well
So what were the 12 volt rgb headers initially used for? there are millions of motherboards that have them but case fans don't connect to them
at 7.08 you connect the 3 pin splitter to the top (fan & ledstrip 5 volt) of the converter or do you connect connector to the motherboard header?
So any idea if i can use this with the uni fan hub? Or am I going to need different fans
can you connect a 4 pin fan and a 3 pin fan at the hub at the same time?
will this work with the RGB of the cougar 240 aqua? the motherboard has only 4 pins and the cooling is 3 pin RGB ?
I have an MSI Motherboard and ASUS GPU (which only have 12v RGB header on the gpu itself).. I'll try to use this ASAP. Thanks!
hey so i bought the lian li 120 mm fans and my mobo doesnt have a 5v connector would this work with the lian li controller ? if i plug it in from the controller to this converter and still use the L connect software from Lian Li ?
Is it fine to use the converter and put the argb plug from the converter in a argb hub in the pc case?
Can I connect Chassis Fan (or written as CHA FAN) to the 4 pin converter connector?
Do you know if this will work with iCue? ICue can successfully control my ASUS motherboard, but I'm not sure if it will be able to detect these. Thanks!
I did exactly as you did. My msi fans are lighting up barely and i cannot synchronize them on armoury crate or msi program
If I’m connecting 8 fans would I need 2 of these converters or can I connect the fans to a rgb hub then connect the hub to the converter.
hey just a quick question - I have adressable RGB fans with 3 pin connectors when I use that converter can I use the spinning rainbow aRGB effects or can´t it do that because it gets only a 12V RGB input from the software
What version of AURA Sync did you use? It doesn't seem to work on Armoury Crate :(
great video, i got a addressable rgb converter that came with my pc but i cant control it via asus arua, think this should solve the issue? (fans that i installed are compatible with aura)

@@RayValencia is that rgb header you use the same as an jrgb header on the b450 tomahawk max?
i have 5 argb 5v 3pin fans in my case so will one of this rgb transfer hub work for all?
Do I need to have the 12v AND sata plugged in to power 5v rgb? I don't have the 12v header only a sata power connector
Guys, if you have multiple ARGB components (5v3pins) like me (I have ARGB Fans, and M.2 Heatsink), since the converter only converts 1 5v3pin connector, you can buy an ARGB hub, then connect the hub to the converter, it worked for me.

or, best advise would be get a board with argb headers lmao. Thanks, Ray Valencia!
Will this work with Lian Li SL fans? I feel like I read or heard somewhere that the Lian Li rgb doesn't work unless you use the controller it came with.
got an rgb mobo with a argb case (antec dp 501) bought the deepcool converter.. doesnt work... any solution so i could sync all my lights?
yah yours is way smoother then mine not sure why i have a flicker of colors in between the color cycle
Thanks i just want to control my fans using software so its cooler. I don't really care much for color mixes
