Great seeing you back doing regular videos again. It’s a long long time since I was at school. I think the pros in regards to school uniform is that everyone looks equal. I believe it was more to do with children from poorer backgrounds feeling different or having to compete with friends who come from wealthier homes. And the same for the parents. Parents who are on low income don’t feel pressured into competing and buying expensive clothes for their children to go to school. I should imagine it saves a lot of money.

I agree about the benefits of uniforms in terms of saving money and equalising children. I just wish they did more to promote individuality in terms of achievement and personality here. Thank you for watching!

my 3 teenage children could still show the personality by talking by creative arts in school. plus uniforms are also used to prepare a child for a world of work and also unites the school pride

Hey Sunny! Thanks for the video, great info about London schools! I am an American secondary teacher who has moved to international teaching, along the way I met a Londoner and I will be moving to London this summer on a spousal visa. I am curious, what tips do you have for someone in my shoes looking for a Secondary/GCSE/Sixth Form job? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for watching. It’s a tough road ahead, unfortunately. Plan on doing cover work until a school hires you. For now- start reading as much as you can about your subject specifications. Maybe pick a few exam boards and review what they do and require so you are familiar with them before you arrive too. Be very careful with recruiting agencies! And you will have to have fingerprints from the FBI before you can start working.

UK here. Our schools are stricter. More formal. I dont get all the dress up days and fun at high schools, American high schools seem more like a social club.

I think this is just for the purpose of comparing with high school which would be from yr10-13. Years 7-9 would be equivalent to middle school

Yes! My intent was just to outline the differences. Tough to go through every detail in a short video. There are so many!

Wait your videos haven't been showing in my subscription box for literally a year... Now they have all come up. What's wrong with KZread!! Also in the UK for GCSE and A level depending on the course it's normally something like 40% exam and 60% corse work.(every subject is different) but yes.. if you get a lower grade on your course work the exam is much more important and it's very stressful.

Thanks for adding clarity to the GCSE experience. That’s too bad the videos haven’t been sent to you. Glad you’re getting them now 😊
